There were a lot of positives about the hotel- staff was helpful and nice; room was larger than any I’ve had in NYC and included 1.5 bathrooms; room was quiet; bed was comfy. I really wanted to love this hotel, and I feel like the staff did their best to enhance my stay, but overall the hotel just seemed really dark and dated. The air was also set to not go below 68, which is a deal-breaker for me. I totally understand why a hotel would put this in place, but for me, I need it cool at night to sleep well. It’s a nice place, just not for me.

Where do I even begin? I just spent an amazing week at this hotel, and now it will be my "go to" place when visiting NYC. The entire experience was amazing, but I'll break my review down into categories. Location- You can't beat this spot. A couple of blocks south of Central Park, Times Square, yet nestled on 51st and 7th where the streets are actually super quiet compared to other spots. You are so centrally located here that you can walk quickly to anywhere. Team- From the Manager Marco, the Ops Manager Hamadi, to the countless other team members we encountered, everyone was a SUPERSTAR!!! Ask yourself this simple question. When was the last time you were engaged into a conversation with a member of housekeeping? Much less, told sincerely by housekeeping "THANK YOU for choosing to stay at our hotel." WOW!!! Every single morning when we encountered housekeeping on our floor, they greeted us. The doorman, the bellmen, the front desk team, everyone was top notch. The Room- If you can afford it, please book one of the Grand Suites. It will be well worth your money, and it's over 800sf with plenty of space to stretch out. It was like living in our own little mini-mansion for week. Super clean, modern, remodeled, and even had TWO full bathrooms. Take it from someone who travels non-stop for work, and has stayed in hotels across the globe, you should absolutely make The Michelangelo a destination on your list!!!!!! Tell them Robert sent you :)

I felt like royalty in the Grand Suite (offered at a discounted rate). People say it is expensive in the hotel but, compared to others in Times Square, it's average. It's a great location (literally round the corner from theatre distract). The man behind the counter was fairly abrupt, borderline rude, but the rest of the staff were lovely. Check in and check out was a breeze. Also worth pointing out that it felt pretty quiet there too. All in all, very happy and I would stay there again.

Thank you so much for your kind words about your stay with us in the Grand Suite! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the suite itself as well as its convenient location near Times Square. We're sorry to hear that you had a less than ideal experience with one of our team members at the front desk; please know that this is not indicative of the high level of service that we strive to provide to all of our guests. We hope you'll give us another chance to provide you with the five-star experience you deserve the next time you're in New York City.

Stayed there for three nights - booked by my friend but paid by me - not through Tripadvisor. The best that can be said is that it's an excellent location, clean, safe - for nearly a grand it should be! Then the downside: It's very expensive (morning bagels are charged at $19!). Despite the price it has no aura of luxury, the room was dark and the AC exceptionally noisy. My friend has stayed there several times before, yet his request that we have adjoining rooms was ignored and I was on another floor. The main issue however, was that they were very rude to me. With no warning, I was locked out of my room after two nights simply because administratively they didn't have my credit card on the room booking - they had my friend's. That struck me as pretty astounding (why not just buttonhole me at reception? Or better still, book me in properly, on my own credit card, at check-in!) However, when I tried to ascertain that my card alone would be on the booking and that my friend's card would not be mistakenly charged as well (a real possibility given automated billing), a man in a hotel black suit was called from behind the scenes and started shouting at me. I was astounded. I paid nearly a thousand dollars to stay at a dark and not luxurious hotel only to be locked out of my room then have a man shout at me in the lobby. This was real NYC attitude. Contemptible. And yes, this is a genuine review - not a hatchet job; and yes, it went down as I describe here - this is not a self-serving account and I am not embroidering. I believe the man who originally served me at the desk was rather ashamed of his senior's attitude for what it's worth.

This is my 5th time staying at the Michelangelo Hotel in NYC. It is an excellent boutique hotel with an Italian flavor in a great location. It is my number one hotel for business or leisure when visiting NYC. I highly recommend this hotel!

Picked this hotel due to former good reviews-so glad we did. Plus points are many but include: Location-just off Times Square-just perfect for walking to the main attractions-also subway station only 1 street down. Loads of diners, restaurants, bars in the immediate area-loads of choice. However as the hotel is in a side street, it is a little oasis in a storm! Walk inside and you are in a haven of calm! Rooms-just lovely-spotlessly clean -bed changed daily-and the most comfortable I have ever slept in!! Extremely clean and serviced by very friendly staff. Great bathroom with a powerful shower too! Staff-all were great-and really made our stay. Many of them were of long-standing and were happy to chat about how they loved working there. One staff member had worked there for over 35 years and told us about the history of the local area and the changes he had experienced over the years-really interesting-a “tour” on its own -and a good sign that the hotel inspires loyalty by retaining staff. Bar/breakfast room-this had been closed for quite a time but re-opened the week we visited. Although there are lots of choices locally it was nice to come back to the hotel after a hard day’s sightseeing and finish off the day with a relaxing drink! Didn’t have breakfast there ourselves but plenty did. Looked -and smelled good-but area is small-so on a first come, first served basis. So an excellent choice if coming to NYC-so glad we picked it and would highly recommend

We were exhausted from our red eye flight and hour and a half cab ride from JFK. They were able to get us our room early so that we could wash up and take a nap. I ordered breakfast to wake everyone from their nap and they came and set up a table in our room. The food was delicious. The staff was always there to help with the stroller or just to chat while waiting for a food delivery. This will be my hotel every time I’m in New York.

Great hotel, wonderful location. Furniture a bit old and saggy. Was very uncomfortable to sit on, in fact, slanted forward, could not enjoy sitting on the couch. Bed and room were wonderful. We had a junior suite and the extra room was worth the price. Location, Location, Location. Excellent location. Close to everything and if we wanted a taxi or Uber, not expensive. May stay again if there are more updated rooms.
