First of all, you are only 2 minutes away from Times Square, the hotel itself is a classic building that travels you through time, the Staff is fantastic and very polite, the bed feels like sleeping on a huge pillow that will ensure a good night sleep, the amenities of the room are great and the cuisine of the restaurant...

We wanted to stay overnight in New York after going to the theater and having dinner. The Algonquin seemed a good choice because of its location in the theater district, and because of its compelling history as a hangout for the famous literary giants of the 1920's. As others have mentioned the staff was very friendly. Our room was lovely,...

What a pleasant respite this hotel is in a very tourist popular area of NYC. Although this is a boutique hotel, it is quite amazing. Jenny, Christine, and Laura were very welcoming and hospitable at the front/concierege desk. Doormen/Bellmen Eddie, Jermaine, and Jimmy were helpful and proactive. Food and Beverage manager, Jeffrey, was very understanding and accommodating about a fellow...

My family stayed one night on Christmas Eve. I was expecting they might provide a complimentary The New Yorker for the customer, and they did!! Not to mention the The New Yorker posters in the corridor, ranging from 1925 to 1926, the first two years of the magazine, and it was said that Harold Ross secured the funding for the...

My family (my husband and I, along with our 2 college-age kids) stayed two nights at the Algonquin Hotel in the Edna Ferber Suite and it was perfect! The room was big enough for the 4 of us; it was clean and very quiet. The elevators, hallways and stairways were small, but that only added to the charm of the...

Stayed two nights leading up to Christmas 2013 to see two Broadway shows, shop and take it all in. From start to finish, the Algonquin staff was gracious, helpful and just darn nice. Our room was small, but very well appointed - for us, that was fine as we only wanted the proximity to Times Square etc so we could...

My family just got done with a 4 night stay at the Algonquin. The hotel is an icon with a great history and feel. While I typically stay at a big chain hotel in NYC, this was a great change. We had the Atlantic Monthly Suite. Upon check in the front desk receptionist was extremely nice. Our room for the...

What is there not to love about this hotel? The decor is inspired and all of the staff are smiling and helpful! Yes the rooms are a tad on the small side but they are thoughtfully designed and nicely appointed. It is English major nirvana and the staff is exceedingly patient with the many requests to admire, be seated at,...

I read the rooms were very smal so I booked a king suite and it was lovely! The separate living room was plenty of space and the suite was well appointed. Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
