I had a mix up about my hotel booking. BUT the staff went above and beyond in understanding my situation and made everything be right. Today most Hotels and airlines if there is a change or a problem they say sure we can change or fix it,, it will be $dollars But this hotel response was it ok we understand,... More

We have stayed at the Algonquin on many NY trips and always feel comfortable there. This time we were pleasantly surprised by the renovations, the room seemed more luxurious and everything was new and clean. We just wish Matilda was still roaming freely around the lobby ( I'm sure the staff does as well.)

If you are looking for a nice hotel in mid town, consider the Algonquin. The rooms are nicely renovated, but they are small. If you have a short stay, as we did, it didn't matter to us. The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. The flood and drink prices are high if you are planning to eat and drink... More

Was excited to stay at the Algonquin Hotel Times Square for it just become part of the Marriott Reservation system as part of the Autograph Collection. Very cool that this is where the Algonquin Round Table was with Dorothy Parker and her cronies. Hotel is very recently renovated. Nice renovation but not luxury. Rooms can be close together and hear... More

Good location to midtown. Room furnishings and bedding and bathroom amenities are excellent. Rooms are on the smaller side of other Manhattan rooms and definitely smaller than luxury hotels in this class. Lobby is a fine place to have a drink but they charge "tourist" prices for food. Better off going next door to DB's for a bite.

We stayed at the Algonquin over Memorial Day weekend. It was the first time there since the renovations. Marriott has refurbished it while preserving and enhancing the character of the hotel that played such a role in 20th century writing, literature, and intellectual life. Like most New York hotels, the rooms are comparatively small. However, they are well appointed and... More

The Algonquin -- best known for the Algonquin Round Table literary circle of the 1920's and its part in the founding of "The New Yorker" magazine -- remains a character-filled classic hotel a couple of blocks from Times Square. Now a part of Marriott's Autograph collection, the rooms -- while small (as are most NYC hotel rooms) -- have been... More

I stayed a couple of nights at the Algonquin. The rooms are nicely decorated but they are tiny and completely overpriced for what you get. The staff is generally nice. They have a small gym which tends to be quiet. The bar downstairs is OK if you are looking for something old fashioned. The location is very convenient.

This is a tough review for me because there were a lot of things I really wanted to like about this hotel. Checking in at 10:30pm after riding in a chartered bus for 4 and a half hours, I really wanted check in to be easy and smooth. It wasn't. The woman who was checking me in was unfriendly, indifferent,... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
