Stayed here for a weekend in early May 2017. Location was fabulous to upper east side attractions like the Park and Met. Staff was friendly and courteous. Doormen quickly hailed cabs for us and did not have to wait. Caught the end of a really good Jazz trio at the hotel bar Saturday night. Rooms were up to date and...

We stayed at The Surrey Hotel in April 2017 for 6 nights and overall the experience was a positive one. Check in was fairly smooth and the staff on the desk and the door were very friendly and attentive. Our room was a great size with a HUGE bed - had some of the best nights sleep in this bed!...

entering the lobby with the assistance of the bellman went well and the first impression of the lobby is a beautiful stone mosaic that imitates a carpet inside the door. it's all downhill from there. the hotel was remodeled several years ago in a "Royalton Hotel in the '90's" meets Morocco kind of style. that includes flimsy silly furniture that...

We had a wonderful time and loved the room and the view. It would have been nice to be able to use the roof deck but the weather didn't cooperate. We had a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. Very high tech with TVs everywhere and the ability to plug in our own music to the sound system. Fitness center...

Loved my room. Large and airy. Excellent finishes. Bathroom beautiful. Great bed. Enjoyed my sleep. Bar very good and restaurant excellent. Also really enjoyed the spa. We had excellent service there, although I read some less-than-promising reviews. Drawbacks--I wasn't able to check in until after 4pm because they were busy spraying a weird fragrance--because I asked for a low-allergen room....

We stayed in room 612 at The Surrey in early April to celebrate my fiancé's birthday. As Manhattanites, we could have selected a number of very fine hotels but we wanted to try something new. We chose The Surrey based on the 2016 Travel & Leisure and Conde Nast Travelers awards, the 4-star rating by Forbes Travel Guide, the listing...

When I go back to NYC I will definitely stay at the Surrey. But the next time I will be a wiser guest. My plan included breakfast. However the restaurant adds a 20% tip and tax which is then put onto your final hotel bill. Also the" Breakfast Included" plan allows you ONE cup of coffee. The next one will...

I can't say enough wonderful things about this Hotel! Staying in Upper East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighborhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighborhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.

“I would have preferred a room on the street side of the hotel. Ask for that when booking. Rooms are large by New York standards. A suite is unnecessary, unless you plan on entertaining in your room.”
