I recently stayed at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel for 3 nights and I was shocked at the poor standard compared to other Sheraton hotels. This was by far the worst but also the most expensive Sheraton I ever stayed at. Perhaps this is the standard you can expect from hotels in this particular area but anywhere else this would not be accepted. The rooms are old and drab, beds are uncomfortable and the amenities are subpar (shower gel is not even provided). Besides the noise from outside which can be heard on the 44th floor, sound travels through the walls and you can hear every person walking down the hallway and slamming their doors. Please make sure you bring ear plugs. The breakfast buffet was terrible with a very limited spread of hot dishes (watery eggs cooked to oblivion) and not so interesting cold items. At least before there was an omelette station but this has been removed making it an even more basic experience. Combine this with an overcrowded restaurant and a 30 minute queue outside, I would not recommend anyone to pay extra for this. The staff I encountered were disinterested at best and were even at times shouting to each other across the lobby giving a very poor impression. I have never seen anything like this. There is literally nothing appealing about this hotel other than the location. Looking at some of the most recent reviews here on Tripadvisor, I can see that I am not the only one who feels this way. I think it is time for a complete revamp and retraining of all staff at this property. However I doubt that anything will change as this hotel is always packed and they must be making a lot of money.

Good location only! Located on 7th Ave and 53rd street, the location is great! My room was facing 7th Ave, so it can get noisy when police sirens are wailing. But the hotel being part of the Marriott family has no M Club. It does have a decent gym on lower lobby level. Bed is definitely not as comfortable as other Marriott family beds! Coffee maching in the room, but there is a Starbucks (of course) across the street.

Stayed for a recent conference in NY. Waited 30+ min to check in - only two people on front desk at 9pm with a long line. Unfriendly staff. Security is poor - anyone can access elevators and guest floors from street level. Room was cramped, dirty and dusty with old carpet and cheap bedding with plastic cups in the bathroom - the room also smelled moldy. Shower had very low water pressure. This hotel badly needs a refurb - there are far better choices in NY.

WARNING: Please do not stay at this Sheraton. I’m a Marriott Titanium Elite and must say that this is absolutely the WORST hotel ever and I stay frequently in hotels around the world. For a long time this was one of my favorite hotels to stay in New York. However, it has turned into a stingy, dingy greedy dump. First, despite my Titanium status and their inflated rates. they don’t so much as give you a bottle of water. But you can purchase water from the hotel. You get a choice of 1,000 points for your entire stay or a free, but worthless breakfast buffet every morning, after you stand in a long line like a herd of cattle. Trust me, it’s not worth it. The rooms are small and dated. I’d be willing to bet that prisoners get better views from their jail cells. They will hand you your “room service” in a paper plate inside a paper bag- but charge you $10+ 15%+ gratuity. Most hotels have compact refrigerators in all the rooms, but unfortunately I didn’t have one in my room at this Sheraton. They told me my room is a Titanium upgrade and expected me to be grateful for my “upgrade” to a higher floor. A Fairfield Inn or TownPlace Suites offer much better amenities at much lower rates- heck, I believe a Motel 6, would do better by their guests. Hotel guests and the nice, dedicated and friendly staff deserve better. I’m stuck here for an entire week and so disappointed.

I recently stayed at New York Times Square Sheraton with a prime location, but unfortunately, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. The hotel's central location in the heart of the city was undoubtedly its standout feature. It was incredibly convenient for exploring nearby attractions and restaurants. However, the positive aspects end there. The amenities provided were severely lacking. The room felt outdated, and the lack of essential amenities was disappointing. The hotel's overall cleanliness left much to be desired. There was a lingering odor in the room that never seemed to dissipate, making the stay rather uncomfortable. The staff's behavior was also a significant letdown. The rudeness and lack of professionalism were apparent from the moment we checked in. Requests for assistance or information were met with dismissive and unhelpful responses, which made our stay even less pleasant. In summary, while the hotel's location is undoubtedly its strongest point, I cannot recommend it due to the poor amenities, cleanliness issues, and rude staff. Travelers might be better off seeking accommodation with a similar central location but with a commitment to cleanliness, comfort, and guest satisfaction.

The location of the hotel is impeccable with it only being a couple of blocks from Times Square, Rockefeller centre, MOMA etc. However, whilst the communal areas and lifts were in good condition, the room (which we had upgraded to the superior room) was outdated, worn and much needed of a overall refurb. The room was mostly clean but the windows could have done with a good clean (very dirty). All the staff we encountered were pleasant and the little shop in the reception area was combiner and well priced. However, all in all, the rooms are in a desperate need for a return which would drastically improve the hotel overall.

Feels like they stopped caring years ago. So overpriced even accounting for the location. Rooms feel dingy, furniture is worn out, bottom falling out of chairs for example (so no way to work in room). Bathroom is tired and old but reasonably clean. Enormous wait for elevator every time. Staff is friendly.

I spent two nights here for a business meeting and I was honestly disgusted. You notice as soon as you enter the hotel and face a long line to check in while you smell pretty strong smell that is marijuana like that the hotel is just outdated and not managed right. The wait for the elevators is always super long. In my hallway there was a strong smell of rotten food which have honestly never noticed in a hotel before. The room carpet was dirty and stained, walls were dented also with dirt on the old paint. Bathroom was super small but was in fact clean. Towels and sheets are old and rough and bed wasn’t comfortable. No water in the room and cheap toiletries. Don’t be fooled by the name or brand.

What a dump. I mean it's clean and all, but it's so clear they gave up caring. Staff is nice, rooms are just, old and broken. My room for example. First the key didn't work. Go to front desk, guy is like "yeah, the batteries have been running out, I'll give you a new room." New room is wicked tiny, but OK, whatever, company is paying. Go to unpack. Luggage rack is broken. Call for replacement, that never comes. Sit down to do some work, my rear literally goes through the chair. Busted. Other chair? Busted. Won't even bother asking to replace. Bed? Like sleeping on squeaky rocks. And the capper, and where there's some liability, the window locks are broken. I'm on the 42nd floor and could jump right out if I want, the window opens all the way. Hey, I ain't gonna and it's cool. But if I were here with a kid? I'd be royally pissed. I'd say go someplace else, but it's probably the same there.

I hated staying in this hotel and was surprised at how bad it was considering the price and also that it’s a Marriott Bonvoy property. There were no safety precautions for the elevators despite being so close to time square. The elevators were either incredibly slow or didn’t go where they were supposed to. My room was actually disgusting I actually think there are probably cleaner motels. I didn’t want to touch any of the surfaces and got completely freaked out going barefoot on the carpet. It smelled like a combination of sweat and urine in my room. It was so dark and dingy in the room too. Avoid this hotel.
