My son had a medical emergency in NYC, and I booked 2 days through Priceline. He is in an arm cast, and I was not able to be in NYC with him. I used my visa card to book his reservation. I called the hotel the night before to find out other charges. They said there was an 80.00 resort fee and he could pay cash, saying nothing about additional charges. The next day my son checks in at 2pm, and he is told that they do not accept cash, and there is a 100.00 deposit that requires a card in his name. I called reservations(explained the situation), and Valeria immediately emails me the Credit Card Authorization for this Hotel. I fax it back with a message that I had been calling the front desk(that no one answers) for hours. My son comes back to the hotel at 5pm, he went to a bank and put 80.00 on a card, and presents this, and he also had a copy of the fax confirm. Adam, manager, said "You had to send the credit card confirmation form the day before." (It does not say that on the form. Adam will not speak with me on the phone, and immediately cancels his reservation. Now, it is raining in NYC, my son is set out on the streets, and he has no where to spend the night! There are no words to describe the horrible treatment towards my son. They care only about money, money, money! I called Priceline back, and they worked with me to find something at this late time. Take your chances...total break down of communication with the public.

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago and have jumped around from various neighbourhoods. As of today, The Manhattan will ALWAYS have us as a repeat customer after the service we received from Kiat Lim (in-house reservations). We booked our 3 night stay through a third party 2 months ago and after trying for 5 days to cancel/change our stay through the third party, I decided to call the hotel myself. Since we are in unprecedented times, Kiat was kind enough to cancel without penalty/expectation to rebook. I spent over 15 hours with the third party agency waiting to get answers over 5 days, and in 12 minutes Kiat was able to assure me all would be okay and we would not be charged. Wish I had called this hotel myself 5 days prior. During such stressful times with regards to travel and re-arranging plans etc..., Kiat was absolutely wonderful. We will be back in Oct for the long weekend to continue our plans and will not go anywhere else. Thanks again to Kiat for his incredible service!!!!!

The only good thing to say is that the staff was nice, patient, and helpful despite being confronted or yelled at by a guest every time I passed the front desk. Bottom line, this hotel is filthy. I planned to stay 4 night but left after 1. The bathtub was cracked and had black greasy smudges in it. There was a full booger complete with nose hair on the side of the bathroom counter. Blood (?) smudges near the door. Filthy curtains. Even the elevator had dirt or food splattered everywhere. When I asked staff came to clean the bathtub but she tried a little then said it was stained and I should put a towel down in the bathtub. I don't blame her... the whole place needs to be SCRUBBED top to bottom and the carpet replaced.

I was assigned a room here when using Priceline's express booking tool, which promised me a 4-star hotel. This was not even close. To be fair, google tells me this is ranked as a 3-star, but I've never been in a 3-star that was so dumpy. I'm not picky and all I expect is a decently clean and comfortable place to sleep, but The Manhattan is not that! The one very positive thing I'll say is that they let me check in and gave me my room key early because otherwise I wasn't going to be back until very late that night. The person at the front desk who handled this was very courteous and helpful. That's where the highlights stop. The temperature controls in my room did not work, and when I arrived later that night my room was hot and stuffy. I called the front desk to see if I could switch rooms and they said they were totally full (based on the fact that I'd booked only 10 hours earlier, I doubted that). The person offered to send a technician to my room to check it out, but I declined because it was the middle of the night and as a woman staying alone I didn't like the idea of any strangers coming to my room. And who knows how long that could've taken? It was difficult to sleep because of the temperature and the cheap mattress which was bouncy and uncomfortable, but I eventually managed. I was then woken up at 9am by the sound of room service knocking on the doors near mine. The walls are very thin and I could hear entire conversations in the hallway and doors opening and slamming shut. 9am feels incredibly early to come by on a Sunday when checkout is at 11am! Also, the room smelled a bit like old cigarettes, even though it was supposed to be nonsmoking. Perhaps it was mold, judging by some of the other reviews here. If I'd known to expect an old, decrepit hotel I would have adjusted my expectations. But the fact that I was supposedly booking somewhere nice (and it was not cheap) made the experience extremely disappointing. If I'd paid full price and not gone through Priceline, I'd feel even worse!

This place was horrible. Great location, worst room ever! Mold and mildew throughout the bathroom. But the best part, I was finally able to walk on water, literally. The lining they have over the 1962 bathtub clearly has standing water between it and the liner. We did request to change rooms, only to find that room on the 14th floor was actually worse. The mold was not only in the bathroom, but came through the bedroom area as well. We were on the 21st floor and didn’t hear street noises; however the weed party that was going on down the hall allowed a free contact high and sounded like we were partying in the room with them until wee hours if the morning. Only to call the front desk 3 times before getting an answer that someone will be right up. We never heard them come. The air didn’t cool the room then entire time although the thermostat said 66. Calling BS on that as we were literally sweating to the oldies (the mattress is just one of the many oldies ) all night long. Some say location is everything, location is wonderful, I disagree when you feel dirtier coming out of the shower than going in.
