It was a nice stay, staff was friendly and accommodating. Many options for food in the neighborhood. Quick walk to Murray Hill Diner for breakfast 🥳.. as well as many other options to eat. Quick, easy walk to Grand Central Station! Only con: there’s a mildewed smell in the hallways , carpet is old and retains an odor.
Just returned after a 4 night stay at the Shelburne, overall I’ve been very happy with the service provided, the room was of great size and very clean, it was also cleaned daily to a good standard, staff downstairs and on reception were great to. Only down side to the stay is that the room/suite had an attached kitchenette but there is no cutlery or Crockery to cook/eat with? The location is ideal with it only being around a 10 minute walk to Times Square, close enough to enjoy being central yet slightly out meaning the traffic noise is quieter. I’d recommend this hotel and stay again.
My wife was called to NY on business and stayed at the Shelburne. It happened to be during our wedding anniversary, and so we didn't get to celebrate together. I contacted the hotel desk to see about arranging surprise gifts for her in her room, and I was directed to the Concierge (Anya). She went above and beyond at helping me pick out some nice gifts online while on the phone with her, and everything was delivered as I hoped. Very helpful staff!!
We really like this place. It’s conveniently located for us after work with a lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Manny and the front desk. He is so nice and very accommodating. The rooms are clean and comfortable and some are very spacious. Beds are very comfy too. This is one of our favorite places to stay in the city after work.
After a hiatus of 4-years due to Covid and shutdowns, I start travelling again. My first trip has taken in the attractions in New York I missed 17-years earlier due to remnants of the Hurricane Katrina that fizzled out on the Eastern seaboard as rain. I stayed at this comfortable hotel for the duration in a quite district.
Booked for 5 nights in Dec 22 (2 adults & 2 teenagers) through Virgin. The hotel was definitely not as advertised. No restaurant or bar so no facility to grab a drink, snack or breakfast, we were just handed a sheet with recommended places to eat (none of which were open on a Sunday night). 2nd floor room was very noisy on our first night, asked to be moved and staff were very helpful, we were moved to 12th floor which was actually a bigger room with better views, with 2 teenagers this was perfect. Clean, comfy beds, nice pillows, plenty of towels but not enough coffee, tea, milk, mugs or glasses for 4 people. The place was pleasant enough but it's in need of an update. On the plus side it's a great location, quiet (on the higher floors) and clean/comfy. We definitely didn't get what we paid for though. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it unless prices were reduced.…
We arrived around 8pm the pull out bed had no bedding called reception they brought two sheets no pillows or a duvet sofa bed was so uncomfortable the springs dug into my back Sheets on double bed smelt of greasy hair and were creased wonder if they had been changed at all Overall room was OK THE WORST THING WAS…. We were bitten by bed bugs over our arms neck and shoulders
Had a wonderful long weekend stay at the Shelburne Sonesta in early December 2022. Family reunion with 4 rooms booked. The 1 bedroom apartments and suites are quite spacious. Views of the Empire State building were as promised and fantastic at night. It is on a busy street but there are rooms that are quieter (without views) that can be requested. The bathroom in one of the 1 bedroom apartments was quite small as the only negative. Location was excellent, in safe residential neighborhood with many dining choices one block east on 3rd Avenue, including Sarges Deli (which is a must visit). The check in front desk person (forgot his name) was warm, funny and very helpful and the housekeeping staff was attentive and available. NY is a walking city and we did to Empire State Building, Grand Cental, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and the Theatre District. Overall an excellent experience at this hotel that I woould highly recommend. …
My friends and I came for a weekend trip to NYC. The hotel is very nice and clean the only issue is the customer service and valet services. I highly recommend you avoid valet service. They lost my car for 45 minutes to an hour. It’s also ridiculously expensive considering it’s 65 dollars per 24 hours. They also did nothing for my car, it doesn’t make sense how you lose someone’s car. Won’t be coming back here awful customer service here.
This is usually our favorite place to stay in NYC. Great location. Rooms always clean and comfortable. Front desk staff always friendly & helpful. This trip, however, we were disappointed in the rest of their services. We had two burned out light bulbs when we checked into the room. No biggie. Called front desk and asked for new bulbs. 3 hours later, still no bulbs. Room was pretty dark. We were allotted 3 free items from the “pantry” each day, but it was scarcely stocked the entire week. We stayed 4 nights and weren’t acknowledged by a doorman until we were hopping into the cab AFTER check- out. He never offered to hail the cab, ignored us until the cab arrived, then just tried to put my suitcase in the car (attempted to take it out of my hand as I was putting it into the trunk myself). If you want a tip, don’t wait until I’m leaving then pretend you’re helping. As I said, this is usually our go-to place for NYC. We’ll still be back, but we’re hoping the service is also back to what is used to be.…
