The Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel garners praise for its attentive staff and spotless cleanliness, with many guests enjoying the modern decor and vibrant atmosphere, complete with festive touches. The rooms are generally well-received for being clean and spacious, though there are occasional maintenance concerns. Amenities like the bar's view are popular, despite some noted limitations.

We had the nicest room I've ever had in Manhattan, and the staff was great! The breakfast buffet in the R Lounge for elites was good and the view of Times Square is unmatched. I have stayed many times in this hotel for business, but having my wife with me made it extra special. We were there only one night - I wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks to the team for a great stay!

The hotel’s location is amazing! It’s close by yellow line of subway. The restaurant view for Times Square allows you to have an unique experience. The room is very big, considering other hotels in NYC. Only bad part is the bathroom, which it’s old with bathtub.

The hotel was wonderfully located, almost everything was in walking distance. If needed there was a Subway station very close by. The staff was lovely and the rooms cleaned well. If I come to New York again I will definitely stay here again & recommend it to others who wanna go to New York.

We stayed at the Renaissance Times Square for a few nights right before Christmas. The hotel is in a great location, located right in the heart of Times Square. The theaters, Rockefeller center, etc. are all within walking distance. The checkin is on the first floor, which is small and dark, so not a good first impression or initial "wow' factor when entering. The bellmen are very nice, and will hold your luggage, etc. You have to take the elevator to the lobby, which includes a great restaurant (glass walls with surrounding views of Times Square). The food was very good, including the breakfast buffet. The restaurant (R lounge) is pretty small, so make a reservation for a dinner table, especially during the holidays. The breakfast buffet is also at the R lounge, and there can be quite a wait, especially after 8-8:30 in the morning. There is a bar, with good drinks and service. Other than the room coffee maker, there is no where in the hotel that serves coffee. It would have been nice to have a coffee/beverage service area in the lobby. There is a Starbucks, Krispy Kreme, and Duncan within one block of the hotel however. The hotel was clean and decorated very nicely. The rooms are large for NYC standard (300 sq feet). We had a "king" room with a chaise lounge (advertised as "sleeps 3"). You really cannot use the chaise lounge as a bed (more like a "toddler" bed). They did offer to bring up a rollaway bed, but my child and I just ended up sleeping in the "king" bed The king bed is more the size of a small queen however, FYI. The housekeeping was good, and we had no room issues. All elevators were working, and arrived in a timely manner. We were on the 20th floor, with a full view of Times Square down below. Although it is right on Times Square, the sound proofing was pretty good. The location is fantastic. There is a subway stop "yellow line" right outside the hotel entrance. Although I was apprehensive initially, it was very easy to use the subway. The stop right outside the hotel goes to the Oculus, 911, Statue of Liberty ferry, Union square, Soho (Prince street subway stop), Brooklyn, etc. You can now use a credit card, which made it very easy. Central Park is about 6 blocks away also, with the museums about 2 miles from the hotel. We also walked to Grand Central Station and the Bryant Park area. Bryant Park was ok, but we much preferred the Union Station market and shopping area. The location is also perfect if planning on going to the shows. The "TKTS" discounted ticket booth is right next to the hotel. We saw two shows, and purchased really, really good seats, at a significantly discounted price at the TKTS booth. The location really made it easy to enjoy all of the NYC activities. It is a solid 4-star NYC hotel with very friendly staff. You will walk out into the heart of Times Square, right into the hustle and bustle of NYC. If you are looking for lodging on a quiet street, may want to look elsewhere. p.s. the Hershey store is right across the street, highly recommend one of their loaded milkshakes and tollhouse cookie sundae.

If you are aiming for the Times Square tourist experience, the Renaissance is perfect. The restaurant and bar overlooks the square and has the high energy throughout. There was always a concierge ready to assist with adventures. The reception, restaurant and bar staff were all friendly and accommodating. Our room was not loud. 1807. The darkening shades worked well because we slept in every day. Another reviewer noted a problem with the bar being open. Not sure what the situation was but when we were there right before Christmas they had a full bar and we loved having a drink with that view after a long day. Big thank you to Alex at the bar who kindly took pictures of us and knew the best locations and angles.

Being able to stay right in the middle of a location known world wide is quite remarkable. Everyone we met at the hotel was very nice and helpful. The hotel restaurant has a view that looks out over bustling Times Square and straight at the Time Square Ball. The hotel is pleasant. Parking is tricky and I recommend calling the hotel about ten minutes before you arrive for instructions. It will be noisy from outside activities like sirens because of the city life but I expect that must be true of most hotels in NYC. I had a problem during the night because someone in a neighboring room turned their TV on at 2:30AM for at least an hour. I had ear plugs and a white noise device playing but it was still loud enough to wake myself and my sons. I do not know if the noise reduction was just a problem in our room or typical of the rest of the hotel but I likely wouldn't return because of this issue.

Response from Wilson Bravo, General Manager at Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel
Responded Dec 19, 2023
Dear AUGrad98, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel on Tripadvisor. We truly appreciate your positive feedback about our location, staff, and restaurant view! Your kind words about our team's friendliness and helpfulness are especially meaningful, as we strive to create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all our guests. We're also glad you enjoyed the bustling atmosphere of Times Square from your room. It's true, being in the heart of the city comes with its own soundtrack, and we completely understand that city noise can be a factor. We do our best to mitigate this through soundproofing measures and double-paned windows, but we acknowledge that sometimes external noises like sirens can still be disruptive. However, we're deeply sorry to hear about the late-night TV disturbance in your neighboring room. This is certainly not the experience we want any of our guests to have, and we understand how frustrating and disruptive it must have been for you and your sons. We assure you that this is not typical of our hotel, and we take noise complaints very seriously. We would like to investigate this matter further and understand if the noise reduction in your room was indeed compromised or if it was an isolated incident. Would you be open to providing us with your room number or any additional details about the neighboring room? This information will allow us to take appropriate action, such as speaking with the guests involved and reviewing our soundproofing measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. We value your feedback and want to assure you that we are committed to providing a peaceful and enjoyable stay for all our guests. We hope you will give us another chance to demonstrate our dedication to your comfort and satisfaction in the future. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any further questions or concerns. Sincerely Wilson Bravo, GM

This hotel is centrally located in the heart of Times Square and is a convenient place to get to just about anything you want to see in the area. We had a very positive experience from start to finish, with a smooth check-in process and an easily accessible layout. Everything was very clean, and I appreciated the extra safety measure of using our key cards to utilize the elevators. Our room was decently size, with a comfortable bed and modern amenities. The view of Times Square was lovely! I will add that since this hotel is in Times Square, there's a perpetual faint hum of noise from both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The hotel does a good job of blocking out most of the noise, but if you require complete silence, be sure to mention it to the front desk when you check in. There's a restaurant here, although we didn't try it (the menu looked good, though). The staff are very friendly and professional. Prices reflect the central location of the hotel (Times Square is a coveted spot).
