Nestled in the heart of Times Square, the New York Marriott Marquis is celebrated for its prime location with guests enjoying the proximity to Broadway and the area's safety. The rooms receive accolades for their spaciousness, modernity, and cleanliness, with stunning views that leave an impression. However, some guests have pointed out issues with housekeeping and the hotel's value, citing mandatory fees and high costs. The service experiences a mix of praise for attentive staff and criticism for management. Amenities like diverse dining options and rapid elevators enhance the stay, though noise levels and elevator waits can be a concern for some.

As a first time visitor for me and my daughter we were amazed when we saw the hotel in person. The pictures on the Bonvoy app were nearly the same as the hotel Marquis. The staff was very friendly to us. The shops we visited and purchased souvenirs from the hotel were reasonably priced and the staff was friendly. As we checked out the team member Charles and others, I could recall their names were all friendly and understanding. We enjoyed the M Club very much. The door keeper at the M Club was very friendly also. Hotel Marquis gave us a wonderful first time experience to NYC. Thank you so much.

I have stayed here by myself and with family on numerous occasions, including this Feb. This is one of our go to hotels when staying in the city. Our rooms are always clean, beds soft/good enough, excellent showers. Usually we can get an upgrade if available. Pricing is usually reasonable and between $250-$500 per night depending on the season. Numerous dining options, Free breakfast if you are a Marriott member until 930a. Kids love the see through elevators. Most of all, the views from some room are simply awesome. On my last trip, I hand a direct view of the ball drop. I tried to book this room for new years, but come to find it’s blocked off for the next 5 years. :( Gym is nice and great views. Staff are very accommodating. Room service is good, and has been quick on all of my visits. Yes parking and room service are expensive. Rooms can be a bit tight if getting standard base rooms. This is common in NYC hotels. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. Five stars.

A fabulous hotel with such helpful staff. Well worth getting a Times Sqare room, view is spectacular. Room very spacious, super clean and toiletries good. The central location meant almost all attractions are very easy to walk to. Ask at concierge desk for a map for easy navigation. Loved our stay here.

Amazing Time Square view room on 28th floor - had $30 allowance for bar/ restaurant. Room was spacious and well set out with everything we could need. We only received bottles of water upon request though. Shampoo, conditioner & shower gels available in pump bottles & coffee, sugar, tea available in room. Hotel very large with 40+ floors - had a pastry with hot drink each morning for $12 each which filled us up nicely. Drinks are VERY expensive in the bar - $37 for 2 glasses of white wine. Really good shop and cafe available on floor 8. Really helpful staff throughout the hotel.

A very good hotel overall. No huge complaints really but definitely some glitches or annoyances. I wish it was not so expensive (rooms, dining, shop, etc.) but that is par for the course in NYC and the Times Square area in general. Expensive but certainly not "overpriced" when compared with other hotels in this class. It is very clean, comfortable, with multiple room options, dining on site, a nice sho on site... lots of good things and it would be hard to leave here "disappointed" with a stay. My only significant issue was at check-in when the gentleman said he was not sure our particular room (larger, corner room, king bed) was ready yet... but there was a suite ready and it would only be an extra $250 per night if I wanted to upgrade. I quickly turned down the "offer" rather than add $1,250 to my tab... and only then did he find a corner room for me that was all ready. It felt like an attempted scam and this hotel should be better than tactics like that. And IF you are going to make an offer, make it a better one since I have been a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member. Other little flaws? When we entered our room we found a spray bottle of disinfectant that the cleaning crew had left there... thankfully I got it before my child did. Another day they left a large lint roller in the middle of the floor. They also charge a "destination fee" each day that apparently includes $30 credit towards food and beverage each day... but on the final bill it was not clear if this had been taken off or not. I should have kept our receipts from Revel & Rye and Broadway Lounge to make sure one was $30 less each day because it did not show up as a credit on the bill. They claimed I got the credit but it would be nice if it was detailed on the bill and next time I will know better. Also, when you exit the hotel, there is a line of taxis... which is nice... except the drives hound you to hire them. It would be nice if the hotel could control this to some degree because it got uncomfortable at times having 3 or 4 drivers follow you begging you to hire their cab. Since there is so much marijuana smoke in Times Square, the smell is in the ground level and elevators of the hotel also. But that is something I doubt they can do much about. If you have saved preferences on your Bonvoy account like extra towels or a certain type pillow those are not noticed, either. We had to make the sme requests each day... and also be aware the rooms do not get cleaned until later in the day around 3:00 or 4:00 PM most days. We usually came back from our day in NYC and the room was not done so we made sure to ask that it be done while we were at dinner. Again... it is a very nice hotel and fairly priced and I would stay here again without hesitation... But it is not perfect by any means and you need to be a cautious consumer.

A warning to all, but especially women traveling alone- Two men come up to my door knocking at 10:40 pm. I’m half asleep they ask me to open the door several times because they say no one is assigned to my room. I have been in this room for a night already. They go away after I tell them I’m not opening the door. I call the front desk asking what is going on and why two men just came to my door as a woman alone at 10:40 pm. The woman I spoke to said that those two men were the managers and they were going to give me a call in the next 10-15 minutes. If they didn’t call for her to call the front desk and she will walk over there to get them. A separate woman, initials CJ, calls me 5 minutes later apologizing and saying did you have the two men come to your door? We’re so sorry is there anything we can do for you? I say no and explain how unprofessional and not okay that was as a woman alone at 11 pm for two men to come to my door. She then says she needs to come to my door to check my ID. I say you can’t do this in the morning? She says no because they will confiscate all my belongings. Once they (CJ and her manager) come to my door, they said that the maid said there were belongings in my room but I had a privacy sign to not come in my room. The sign was on the inside of my door once I realized she said this which means someone has been in my room violating my privacy sign on the door. She kept apologizing. The manager said she would call me tomorrow (2/14). She also asked on the phone what state I live in and asked why the reservation was under Maddie and not Kimberly? She asked for my marriott rewards number to give me points. That same night (2/13), prior to the incident, I had to go to the front desk because my key was not working. I had no issues getting that key. If there was no reservation, why would the man at the front desk have willingly given me a key to the room? The next morning, CJ, is still there and informs me and another one of my coworkers that came to the front desk with me that there was another “Mattie H” that checked into the hotel and had the same room. She switched to another room. She was confused and came down to the front desk the same night (2/13) because they called her new room asking why she hadn’t changed rooms? None of this makes sense to me and the chances of another Maddie H (but spelled differently) being in the same room is very slim to me. I would have appreciated seeing video footage of who went into my room and this other “Mattie H”. Aside from all of this, fire alarms went off twice and the water was BROWN around the entire hotel for a day. I am truly appalled and do not want this to happen to anyone else who stays here. There are sex trafficking warnings on the back of the hotel doors. To have two men coming to a woman’s room at close to 11pm at night asking to open the door several times is extremely concerning. It has been addressed with management but I wanted to leave a review for all who are debating on staying here.

This mega hotel is right in Times Square. Can’t be beat. Multiple exits on the property making it a breeze to get in & out. Restaurants rights outside the door. Their Gym is super big and you get to put in a workout while looking out the windows of Times Square. The few staff we interacted with were friendly. They do have a Starbucks inside so that is very convenient. There is a restaurant inside the hotel, but we didn’t go there, but seemed full the times we walked by. The Room we stayed in was perfect for the 4 of us. They did have a coffee maker & mini fridge in the room. They supplied Shampoo, body wash in the shower which many places don’t. They are part of the Bonvoy program which is how we were able to use our points for our stay. I highly recommend this hotel and will gladly stay here again!! A+

Pros: large rooms by NYC standards, clean despite its massive size and age of the building, location is convenient. Cons: the culture here does not meet Marriott standards. I stay at a Marriott property about 90-100 nights per year, and these were the 3 worst by far. This hotel’s goals are clearly to maximize extraction of dollars, while the guest experience is secondary. Our stay started by them not honoring the rate I booked, and their unilaterally increasing it upon checkin. We learned they were doing this to many travelers, and while they could have sent advance notice to all of us so we could book elsewhere, the fact that they didn’t felt like a trap since we had no choice but to go along with it. I would go so far to say they behave like the guests are an enemy to be defended against (lounge access hours, policies and condition were overly restrictive). The management is not upholding the standards that I see Marriott maintaining at most other properties I’ve stayed at, which until now has earned my loyalty. I hope Marriott corporate checks in on this property, especially as more poor guest experiences like I had could cause loyal Bonvoy members to leave for other brands

Fresh and clean hotel directly on Times Square. Rooms were updated and large for Manhattan. This hotel is enormous, right in the heart of it all. Room was fairly quiet, considering location. Surprised by the large closet. Has safe, small fridge, desk with multiple plugs, bath has soap bar with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in large, mounted bottles. Would stay again.
