Very nice hotel; as expected of a Marriott, fine spacious rooms, clean and in a great location. Parking is crazy (a NYC norm!) Selected for single night get-away because it was a great value (as hotels in business/financial districts on the weekends typically are)... We were even able to easily get a late check out... But, major “fail” by the staff makes us wonder... About an hour after we checked we asked for an ice bucket... ...followed up on the ice bucket about 30-40 minutes later was told it was coming... ...got dressed to go out, stopped at the front desk on the way out and offered my sympathies for the hard times given the ice bucket shortage, was assured one would be left in our room... ...returned from an evening out, still no ice bucket... ...preparing to check out and depart, still no ice bucket. Believe it or not, I was able to park our big SUV on the street for free the entire weekend and it was easier to find parking spaces than it was to get an ice bucket at the Marriott...…
One night sat feb stay 2 pm check in, really cheap rate but still no hotel services they had just reopened restaurant to indoor dining. Another TA reviewer mentioned bring your own ice and I am glad I did since it wasn’t available. Renovations are great, room is big for NYC and everything was spotless. Only issue was smell of pot on our floor when we got off elevators, and again in middle of the night the smell woke me up, seems to be a problem everywhere in NYC now. I would definitely stay here again without the pot smoke.
My son and I wanted to visit Ellis Island and decided to spend a long weekend in NY. Midtown no longer seems appealing given the state of the city so the Marriott Downtown was perfect. Right across from Brookfield Place and Battery Park City there was plenty of stores and restaurants nearby that were open and serving. I liked the redesigned Marriott app and the more reliable mobile key option. Just one less person to interact with during the pandemic. We had a room on the 32nd floor with a view of the harbor and Statue of Liberty. The room was clean-ish but not great. Hotels are in a tough spot so I’ll cut them slack on my normal expectations. Our room was at the end of the hall and pitch dark. I asked someone at the desk to have the bulbs replaced but never happened. I had to use my phone light to see the room number and key sensor. Minor items in the big picture. Ate on sight at Bills Bar one night. Food and staff were fantastic. Overall, a good property in a good location. I’d recommend staying here and look forward to my next visit. …
I liked my stays. The location was very good. The staff were nice and friendly. The front desk staff were well compliant to the mask regulations to both staff and customers, and follow Covid testing requests to customers. The housekeeping staff responded quick to our needs. The room is nice and clean with gorgeous view. Thisworks products are used in bathroom. I would choose the hotel again.
No breakfast or other perks of being a Platinum Elite member. Given COVID, My review has nothing to do with that. The hotel was half updated and half outdated. They were doing heavy construction and the night I checked in, the key card program wasn't working so I had to be escorted to my room by security who opened it up. The room itself is beautiful and lots of money was spent to revamp the rooms for a nice, spacious decorous room with a fantastic view of NYC/Hudson River. In the future, a breakfast credit at the Starbucks in the building would have been nice for Platinum members or to-go bags. Once they finish construction, I'm sure it will be a more pleasant stay for others.
