This hotel is on the Sloan Kettering site and has been a huge success for us. we are entering our second week here now and it has gone well. if you are driving to NYC from out of state, the toll booths are not active right now due to covid except for those coming into NYC and they take only cash. walking to central park is only 7-8 blocks away. I will list good and not so good things, but nothing has been unacceptable which is amazing. 1. the hotel staff are helpful, respectful and attentive. quick to respond to inquiries - truly, every single front desk employee and 2. the space inside the units is very adequate for new york - we have 4 people and have a 1 bedroom apartment (2 queens) with a connecting door to a King studio 3. the kitchen is good - large refrigerator including quite a bit of freezer space; has a dishwasher and plates and cups and utensils for 4. 4. thermostat works well and controls heat well and is not noisy 5. beds are comfortable 6. furniture is adequate - lounge chairs are wonderful, especially for someone returning after surgery. 7. many, many food delivery options - a few through the hotel are good & close by (Tony's, Jackson Hole). NYC uses the Seamless app for food delivery and it works very well. Levain Bakery cookies are a must for delivery - numerous time! 8. instacart has been a life saver - have ordered from groceries (morgan-williams, fairway, drug stars (cvs, rite-aid), target, liquor store - several deliveries a day - the front desk calls and asks if delivery person can come up and leave order outside hotel door. 9. hotel not empty but certainly not full with covid going on; they are very good with whatever you want in terms of housekeeping - you tell them the day before if you want them to come in and they ask you what time (i will say that the first time housekeeping came in after we had been here 6 days, they said they were low on clean linens and couldn't change the sheets). 10. things i've bought for the room: coffee pot (amazon), blanket covers for living area (amazon), paper towlels, coffee, all refrigerator items, bottled water and soft drinks, lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, washer detergent, dishwasher soap (you can probably get it from them, i'm just trying to limit my requests - they leave one each time they clean). we've only had housekeeping come in twice in 10 days. 11. we parked out car down the street and got a monthly rate for quite a bit less than the rate through the hotel. we have only taken the car out once 12. laundry room is nice - use your credit card for washer and dryer not so good but not horrible: 1. as said in other reviews, the bathtub is showing its age 2. our toilet has not flushed well - we had to have engineering come up 3-4 times in first few days & we ended up buying our own plunger, but it has not been a huge problem 3. we did not find anything with hotel information in the room - for example, we did n't know what to do with our trash (there is a trash closet on each hall); we didn't know how deliveries works…
The staff was very nice at the front desk. Remembered our name and greeted us every time. Rooms were super big and spacious. Little odor in room that could have been sprayed to make room smell nice. Little overpriced, but for size of room it made up for it.
My husband recently needed to stay in NYC for an extended period of time during his treatment at Sloan. This was a period of extreme stress for us. The idea of being away from home and being in the city during this COVID crisis increased our stress exponentially. Today I write to express our gratitude to the staff of Affinia Gardens (with special appreciation to Nigel, Kris and Elvira) for making Affinia the home away from home we needed. Nigel, Kris and Elvira were always professional, friendly and very accommodating. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the suite clean, quiet, and very comfortable. All COVID related precautions honored. The hotel is also conveniently located near an excellent grocery store, pharmacy, banks and restaurants. If you need a home away from home; If you are seeking overnight accommodations or extended stay, Affinia Gardens definitely has my vote! …
We were at the hotel 3 different times in the 2 months. Each time the staff was wonderful. They were friendly and helpful (Especially Nigel and Kris). Kris was always there with kind, friendly words and able to answer every question I had. This was a major reason we picked this hotel again. The location was great for what we needed. My only negative remark is the tubs looked like they are refurbished but still need alittle help. The rooms were always cleaned nicely.
Kris, and Nigel, went way beyond , what I have come to Expect of many Hotel staff n NYC. The room are huge, clean, bathroom very nice, great pressure and shower-head, plenty of towels. The unit had a FULL kitchen with High end appliance, Bosh, LG and Miele .
