We stayed here for 8 nights in August 2024, had a double, double room on the 29th Floor, with a view over the city for my son an I.
Trip had been booked around a 'Future & Metro Boomin' gig at the Barclay Centre in Brooklyn.
The hotel can be accessed from both 56th & 57th streets as was worried when taxi (Flat rate with tip $100) from JFK went down 57th street. Our check-in was straight forward, no wait arriving at hotel at about 8pm from Manchester, UK (Taxi took about 1 hr). However, they do take a large deposit on your credit card which is refunded when you leave.
The first thing we encountered were the 3no.lifts, which require you first to tap the the floor you want on the screen and then it tells you which lift to take. All lifts were quick & we didn't have to wait long. This side of the hotel is shared with other building (non hotel) occupants too.
Our room had a walk-in shower, as we didn't want a shower over the bath type, a fridge and Incl. a Dyson hair dryer. Rooms were cleaned daily, sometimes too early for us.
Its location is great & all was walkable, 10mins to Central Park, 15mins to Times Square (This was through the covered public passages in the buildings opposite). A couple of Metro lines only 5mins away.
Another reason for choosing was the incl. breakfast, which ran until 11am, good for lie-ins. This was served on the 3rd floor for guests only with incl. breakfast. It was buffet style and never seemed that busy. Another feature was something they call 'Lights Bites', served again on the 3rd floor between 5.30pm and 7pm which was great for pasta, soup etc. Non alcoholic drinks in the adjacent fridges were all free.
When it came to leave, the doorman called a taxi for us, so no worries there either.
Only complaint was that I assumed you would get 2 bottles of water in your room, but I had to ask each day at reception.

This hotel was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The 3rd-floor lounge served up yummy breakfast food and appetizers/drinks for dinner. The location couldn't have been better especially if you want to explore Central Park. The rooms are clean and the bed is very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we enjoyed chatting with Bob, our server from Parkers who was the highlight of our evening happy hours. He graciously put up with our change-in-order requests and accommodated our group with ease. We will for sure be back.

I am a fan of Hyatt hotels so I choose Thompson. Thompson as a hotel of the Hyatt group, is very impressive to me like other similar Hyatt hotels. This Central Park hotel is located around Fifth Ave and thus the room is a little smaller than others but the space arrangement and decoration is great. The details make the hotel stand out. They provide very comfortable shower robe and slippers. Besides the bed, sheet and pillows are very comfortable and it really feels very good sleeping on the bed! They provide very detailed services like providing bottled waters every day without needing you to call them and house keeping is very timely.

I book through Amex so I have breakfast. The breakfast is very impressive. You get great food, coffee and services. The service charge is a little higher than expected, but you still get great cappuccino every morning and luxury breakfast. Besides, the flower on the table is real and I guess they cut fresh roses every morning. Very Nice!

The room itself was nice. In line with a 4 star hotel. What wasn’t 4 star was the mildew smell emanating from the bathroom, wifi down for hours on a work day and the most unpleasant breakfast experience throughout my stay. Many guests walked out without paying after waiting over an hour for food that was lukewarm when served. Manager’s response was to complain to the front desk and maybe I’ll get some points as compensation (which I didn’t have time to do). On a positive note, it has a great location and housekeeping was responsive to requests. The hotel has great potential. Hopefully in the future in can resolve these issues.

We had a rocky stay at this hotel for Christmas 2024. Room was not ready until 7:00PM (we arrived at hotel at 4:20 PM. Check in time was 3PM). Service at the restaurant (Parker’s) was also very slow, and the servers were not proactive in keeping us updated of the status of the food or asking us if we wanted coffee refills, for example. We have Globalist status with Hyatt, so the breakfast was comped, but we would have been sorely disappointed with the quality of the food and the service, especially given the price. A 20% automatic gratuity was also added to the check. This was also comped due to our loyalty status with Hyatt, but had it not been, we would have requested it be changed to a lower gratuity amount.

The restaurant wasn’t really a “restaurant” but was just tables in a hallway / corridor. When the doors would open to the outside on either end of the corridor, it would let in the freezing cold air from outside. They tried to compensate for this by blasting the heat, which came in from under the bench seats. This made us equally freezing cold yet somehow uncomfortably hot while we waited a really long time for our food.

On the upside, the room was a decent size by NYC standards, although lacked enough storage for a family of three (especially with bulky winter items). But the room was quiet and we didn’t hear much noise from the streets, the hallway, or adjoining rooms, which is always appreciated. The location was also great. It was walkable to all the Christmasy Rockefeller Center-area sights and also walkable to Central Park.

WiFi was down for several hours one evening of our trip. We rely on this to back up our photos to the cloud after a busy day of sightseeing, so the WiFi outage was definitely frustrating.

As compensation for our issues, we were offered access to the Upper Stories Lounge for the duration of our stay (even though we weren’t staying in an Upper Stories room), and also 15,000 Hyatt points. However, it’s been four days since we checked out and the 15,000 points till haven’t posted …

I probably won’t return to this hotel. I’ll check out a different NYC Hyatt the next time we visit.

Hello. Thompson Central Park has excellent attentive staff who addressed all of our needs. Room service was Devine, they held our bags so we could explore and gave me the best way to get to the airport- spoiler: taxi is cheaper than Uber and they arrange it for you. We are staying again at the end of our trip and are excited how close we are to Central Park 😊. This is a Hyatt not to miss!

Enjoyed a quick weekend visit to celebrate our anniversary. The Thompson CP is a great location for anyone wanting access to the park and shopping on 57th street. The hotel has a lovely lobby, and entrances/exits on both 56th and 57th, which was convenient during our rainy stay. Our room was upgraded (due to Hyatt status), which included lounge access. This provided an excellent breakfast buffet, which we enjoyed. They offered both hot and cold foods, freshly squeezed juices, delicious pastries, yogurt parfaits, comfortable upholstered seating, and an awesome coffee machine for cappuccinos and lattes. They also offered drinks and snacks at other times, which we did not partake in.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very nice young man who neglected to inform us of the lounge access. We didn't know until later that night when we asked about breakfast options. So, that was a disappointing oversight.

I do not recommend parking at this hotel. They claim to offer valet parking, but the parking is separate, and billed $85 per 24 hour period. This is NOT standard pricing, even for NYC. Also, we requested our car in person at the front desk, and when it didn't come, we inquired again and were told that we had to walk next door, into the underground garage to collect the car. 1) The front desk did not tell us that when we requested the car, causing us to wait over 45 minutes outside in the rain. 2) That is not valet service. 3) When we arrived in the basement garage, the car had not been collected at all. Find your own parking if you'll be driving to this hotel.

Finally, the only issue that would prevent me from returning to the Thompson CP is security. This hotel has security like a sieve. There are multiple points of entry, mostly completely unattended. Anyone can walk in and out of this hotel without being seen. Shockingly, the elevators require no room key or code to use. So, people can just walk in off the street and ride the elevator up to whichever floor they'd like. I honestly couldn't believe it! It made me super uncomfortable, and for this reason alone, I would not return.

Room 1718 on 27 Nov-2 Dec.

Location is very convenient, excellent for staking out a spot for a Thanksgiving parade, yet slightly off the main avenues, thus reducing road noise. Room is very modern, functional and comfortable - though the design was not always well executed - fridge had to be placed outside its designated place as it was larger than planned; floorboard creaked in different spots; could use more power outlets for charging di different spots

The largest issue for us was the state of room readiness when we checked in at 6 pm. The room was not ready (despite declared check in time of 3 pm) and the manager (Jennifer) couldn't advise the time when it would be ready. She kept repeating that all the rooms were full - which was the hotel's problem, not ours - and they are trying their best - which was not a solution for tired guests. Hotel management needs to learn from other global hotels on hotel management 101. Andaz Tokyo had no issue in accommodating early check-in during peak Christmas season - this hotel could learn a lot from them!

After making a bit of fuss, Jennifer went to inspect some rooms personally and helped to get a room ready for us.

Up there with the worst service I've ever received at a hotel. The individual at the check-in desk was rude, condescending, and bizarrely referred to me as 'boy' several times.

We waited two hours for our bags to arrive. We made four phone calls asking where our luggage was and eventually went searching for it in the lobby. It was brought up 30 minutes later.

We booked a studio suite with a pull out bed for our four year old child. No bed linens were provided and when we requested them it took five hours for them to arrive. Then a few hours later at 11pm we were woken up by someone banging on the door trying to deliver a second set of sheets.

We tried to eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant. We waited 30 mins before leaving without even being brought a menu (we asked several times).

The final insult was that despite paying in full when I made the reservation, I was 'accidentally' charged again when we checked out — an extra $1,600!

Plenty of better options in the city.

I wanted to thank the Thompson Central Park team for the amazing hospitality that I received while at the property. The care and thoughtfulness begun before arrival, with all of my queries personally resolved (request for a more spacious room, pre-arrival packages, etc), and continued on arrival when I was warmly greeted and checked in by your front desk associates. This is my second time in a Thompson property and I do like the informal yet always professional ethos of the brand.

A few of my highlights:

1) The hotel's dining options, while not numerous, were always of a very high quality. I had the opportunity to lunch at the Burger Joint and the gourmet burgers are still as delicious as I remembered them from the Le Parker Meridian days! Breakfast at Parker was a great way to start my day - food was always fresh, service prompt and friendly, and the menu offered a wonderful variety for every taste.

2) I really enjoyed your partnership with Lifetime fitness across the road. Thanks for so thoughtfully providing guests with this option while your fitness center is under construction. Fitness regimes are an important part of many travelers these days and it's so important to have a comprehensive venue.

3) The Studio Suite was the perfect mix of luxury and chic. The room was laid out efficiently, permitting me to relax or work in the living area while having restful sleep when it was time to turn in. Kudos to the designers for making this a very livable space.

4) Finally a big shout out to the associates. A big part of any stay for me is the hospitality demonstrated by the team and here it was provided in spades! Service was cheerful and prompt and nothing was too much. I had a great send-off by one of your doormen, an elderly gentleman whose name I did not get a chance to learn, who saw me off in a taxi in the dreadful rain, waiting with me until the taxi arrived. What a wonderful team!

Thank you once again for such a great stay in the a Big Apple. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving festive period ahead in the meantime!

The suite is one king bed and there is a sofa bed. You can pull it out yourself or call the room service to have them set it up for you. If you have them set it up, they will setup the extra pillows per request.

They don't call it "breakfast" if memory serves, but it's a great spread- very filling and plenty of options- juices, coffee, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, toast, bread, pastries, it was plenty to keep you full until lunch in our experience!

There does not seem to be an email address but you could try the chat box which pops up when you click on either Contact Us or Customer Service at the very very bottom of the Thompson Central Park hotel website. I am not optimistic that you will get what you need that way, but worth a try. We stayed there in June and did not receive any emails other than from no-reply addresses. Upper Stories room very much worth it for the free breakfast and snacks at the third floor lounge. Very pleasant ambience in there.
