Hotel is newly renovated, clean and quiet. There are a few restaurants and cafes nearby. It is pretty close to the theatre district and a short walk to Central Park. It is very dark and isolated at night though and does not feel like a safe place to walk. The street could use better lighting. We had a standard room with a king bed. There was no coffee maker, which is not the standard of service in other hotels we have stayed at. There was no fan or lock on the bathroom door (it was actually a sliding door). Decor was nice though. We liked the different seating options in the room. We called room service 30 minutes before the end of the service for the day, and were kept on hold for an hour. At no time did the message tell us there was no point waiting. When we went downstairs to check with the concierge he was very dismissive and defensive, stating the hotel is new and not fully completed. When I mentioned that we stayed at a lovely hotel where we were asked to leave a card on the door with our requests for room service the night before, he said the hotel considered doing that but decided not to because they wanted to be environmentally sustainable. I wonder if the cardooard they use to hold the room cards, which they write on, making it un-useable for the next guest and the two plastic water bottles they supply each day (hey guys, what about filling a pitcher with ice water!!), are sustainable. The room was very dark and required that you turn on all six lights to make things visible. We are guessing this is sustainable. The air conditioner was very loud and could not be turned off. Might bother some people who are light sleepers.…
Quietly tucked and conveniently located to Central Park, 5th Ave., Broadway, and fine dining. The staff was accommodating and security was quick to resolve a late night rouse stemming from a neighboring room … The room was comfortable and large by NYC standards and to kitchen prepared breakfast items that exceeded expectations. Thank you to Rolando who anticipated our needs.
Recently spent a Saturday night at Thompson Central Park and had one of the best stays in the city. It was a last minute hotel move and we needed to check in early for a wedding brunch arrangement. The hotelier was very helpful with our request and could tell that they are very familiar with the Hyatt loyalty program. I was welcomed as a globalist and felt appreciated for my loyalty with the brand. The hotel gives a very upscale and modern feel, location cannot be any better. Highly recommended!
there's a nice bar and breakfast but not much else. fitness is bare bones. breakfast menu options were few. We came for the long weekend but seems like it was not highly occupied. burger joint was delicious though!! a must see for that small restaurant only
We made the trip from Missouri with our two teenage boys. It was a graduation trip, since our oldest just graduated from high school. As a World of Hyatt member, I was happy to find this newly redesigned hotel on our list of Hyatt hotels. It looked just beautiful to me. We were not disappointed! Our rooms were beautiful and immaculate. Accommodations mean so much to me as they set the stage for the whole trip. To have a lovely and clean room to come back to is so refreshing at the end of a long day of sightseeing. It was so nice to come back to this hotel everyday and all of the smiling faces that welcomed us. Our boys stayed in the room next to us and they said that this is one of the few places that they really felt comfortable staying in. Maybe a little OCD? This placed measured up. We had breakfast in our room every morning and it was fabulous! Try the brioche French toast or the egg sandwich. So good! Close to Central Park, the theatre district and the museums. Special thanks to Stanley, Eddie, Justin and Destiny for being so helpful. We spent a few nights in Connecticut after this (which I also loved) but the boys kept saying they wished we had just stayed at the Thompson. The hotel lounge just opened while we were there and it is lovely as well. So glad to have found this gem! Hope to come back some time with my husband for a long weekend of Broadway shows and dining. Oh, and Stanley recommended La Grande Boucherie as a good nearby French Restaurant. Check this place out. Beautiful! You will not be disappointed. There is also a Magnolia Bakery just a few blocks away. Be sure and have a banana pudding that they are so famous for.…
The hotel itself was under renovation but still nice. Mind you I’m a Brooklyn native, and was spending a couple of days in Midtown for the start of our honeymoon before we flew out. Every single day we had encounters with homeless people around the hotel. One almost got violent, 40 bucks for him to leave us alone. The second one wouldn’t leave us alone and urinated himself while he harrased us and the cherry on top was the man who exposed himself and followed us for three blocks while touching himself. Again the hotel not bad but the location was terrible.
5 star stay from the beds to the room to the overall ambience. The location is great as well. Only a couple of blocks from Central Park and all the shopping anyone could ask or. Really nice restaurants nearby as well.
Not the Thompson brand I’ve come to love. The renovations at this hotel resemble a low and Hyatt Regency. The property is still under construction — Everything is so new, in fact, that some of the front desk did not even know where the downstairs bathroom was or that it had even been completed. The rooms look OK from a distance, but up close they look and feel cheap. An entire panel of the desk in my room fell off and landed on my feet when I tried to plug my phone into one of the charging ports. I would not stay there again.
had a great time. concierge at the Thompson was good, so was room service & everything. the staff was very polite. Suset in the restaurant was our favorite, she was super accommodating & friendly. we really hope to visit this place again this year.
great location everything with in walking distance, central park in June is wonderful.everyday we took a walk thru the park. all the local restaurants have great food any type your looking for.dont miss the park at sunset...
