Great location, minutes from a subway station and an easy walk to Times Square, Central Park and Empire State Building. Good local restaurants on 2nd Ave. All staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant but housekeeping especially so. Twin room was an acceptable size, typical of a city centre.
Nobody cares about customer service. Got a terrible check in experience. General Manager was unresponsive. All staff was defensive. Extremely disappointing stay overall. Very noisy. The only good aspect was cleanliness. Next time will anoid this property.
Really helpful and polite staff. In particular, we had a lot of help from Michael and Yuri, the concierge staff, who organised several things for us, including a Broadway show, a Helicopter trip and a tour of the United Nations Building; and some great restaurants! The hotel was very clean and the staff all went out of their way to help. We didn't eat at the hotel, but did visit the bar and, contrary to another recent review on here, we found the bar staff very well informed and professional. we would definitely recommend it.
We stayed here based on a recommendation and I am so glad we took the advice. It was my 5th trip to New York and I have stayed downtown, along with Times Square. This was streets ahead. The location is perfect for anything you need to be doing in New York and the hotel itself is stunning. About a year before the pandemic, the whole place was refurbished, so it all felt like new. The rooms were lovely and it was all very comfortable. The breakfast is a help yourself buffet but is of very good quality. Also, the bar is always vibrant and busy and the bar staff are amazing. A big shout out to Herman and Jose who are lovely blokes and made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you Nee York Barclay. We WILL be back
One towel was placed in the bathroom on the second day instead of two. I asked for an old fashioned at the bar that was very far from being an old fashioned. Basically it was a very strong jack daniels with a slice of orange. Ordered buffalo wings to the room that I wouldn’t feed to a dog. Disgusting and expensive.
The service at the Barclay was exceptional. Check-in was welcoming. Michael, who brought our bags to our room was so helpful, hanging our coats for us and placing our suitcases on the folding racks. After a long flight and a long ride from the airport, it felt good to be able to relax right away. We are not breakfast eaters, so did not eat at the restaurant, but did get coffee and danish a few mornings at Ole & Steen downstairs. We did enjoy a cocktail at the bar on a couple of nights and dessert one evening and used the resort fee credit. The room was lovely and very clean. The bathroom was spacious and had a make-up mirror. No street noise on the fifth floor, though I did hear the neighbors speaking from time-to-time. The hotel is in a good location mid-town, near Grand Central Station, which is worth a visit, and some good restaurants. We were without dinner plans one evening and the concierge recommended Toscana 49 near the hotel and made a reservation for us. We enjoyed our meal there. Getting a cab was easy, either by using the Curb app or asking the doorman to hail one for us. Because that part of mid-town is mostly office buildings, our room had a view of one across the service alley, but that was not important to us as we were gone all day and in bed early.…
Always a great experience Every time I stay with them. Great rooms, location, great customer service and nice food. They are also pet friendly with great concierge and management on site. Anything you need within a phone call away to the front desk.
Excellent hotel in a great location. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff were brilliant too. Highly recommended for a family break. Never had the breakfast etc as we had so many places planned to eat however it looked decent. Would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this hotel back in February 2022 ( I'm a little late in doing this), and I wanted to highlight what a fantastic hotel this is, but also what exceptional customer service we received Our 5 day visit did not get off to the best of starts, unfortunately we fell victim to non licence taxi driver inside JFK airport, The fact the male was outside arrivals we thought nothing of it, but looking back now the way he drove to our airport, it should have made me think alarm bells. For information this was a black SUV plate number D30 LFM New Jersey. Please don't do what we did, yellow cab depending on traffic and time of day, $65-80 dollars no more! Anyway, when we arrived at hotel my other half was upset that effectively we had been robbed, and I was just ANGRY. This is where we met Miguel Vasquez, what a guy. He quickly changed things around very quickly, with his empathy, and the fact he wanted to ensure our stay was going to be a good one. Long story short, the guys on reception with the help of Miguel, up graded our room, and waived the resort fee ( Which we did not know about) so be prepared to pay. Throughout our stay we were treated like royalty. Hotel is fantastic, right in the heart of Manhattan, short walk from Grand Central. All staff were pleasant, and told us tips and best places to see in New York, please ask them!! We will be back here in 2023, but Miguel you made our stay and you are a credit to the hotel.…
We were slightly trepidatious about staying giving a few recent negative reviews but we were very happy with the stay . I couldn’t fault the hotel on anything to be honest . Yes, I suppose it is quite expensive for drinks etc . However, it’s no worse than London and we are talking the Center of Manhattan here . Staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful particularly Leslie on the ambassador desk. I was worried due to the stereotype about New Yorkers being rude and unfriendly but I found the stereotype to be unfounded . Housekeeping was particularly good with excellent attention to detail . I will definitely stay again . Oh final point - the location is perfect in mid town and right next to a Green number 6 subway line
