Location is perfect, but my room was disappointing. Although I'm an Platin member the room was small and poorly equipped. The hall is not very inspiring. Breakfast is perfect - expensive but worth the money! I could spend hours with that breakfast. The fitness Center is also ok, but not top level. All in all I would look for another...

Wow, beautiful refurbished hotel where the staff can't do enough From the minute we arrived they made us feel at ease and welcome We was up-graded and the room was lush. Spotlessly clean and well equipped Concierge Adrian had the knowledge of everything in NYC but if you want to know the best local haunts speak to Angel the door...

We stayed three nights at the Intercontinental New York Barclay over New Years. It was our first time staying at this hotel and we picked the hotel because we had one free night. Everything about the hotel was lovely. We got to the hotel well before check-in time so we checked our bags until our room was ready. The check-in...

I stayed at the Intercontinental New York Barclay from 16th until 22nd December 2016 with my wife and 2 daughters. We originally booked the trip through British Airways Holidays and arrived at the hotel with a pre-paid voucher and booking reference. On arrival at approximately 11pm we were told by the check in staff that our room allocated only had...

Lovely place - they cannot do enough to help you. Fantastic service in the restaurant and the staff are very light hearted in their approach, this has no effect on their professionalism and they are super efficient at what they do

The Barclay benefits from a revamp the lobby, bar and communal areas are fresh, clean and stylish. The room we stayed in was also freshly refurbished and was a pleasure to stay in. The bathroom was well later out, appointed and immaculate. The bed, pillows etc where comfortable clean and invitingly. Will definitely stay again

This hotel took my breath away. Situated in the lower part of Times Square, fairly close to the Grand Central Station. The rooms were fabulous with sufficient space for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. A tip to all travellers. Take your credit card with you. The hotels do not allow access to your room, despite paying in full months in...

A historic hotel of New York, the entire structure was renovated with impeccable taste. Function is well-incorporated into the design. As soon as I enter the lobby, I feel like I have come home. As opposed to bigger lobbiesnin other hotels, the Intercontinental Barclay has a much cozier feel. I was there at Christmas time and I could really feel...

A truly excellent hotel. I found the service to be polite and efficient and the location was perfect. The rooms were well sized and beautifully decorated. The location is perfect for someone (like my partner), who hasn't been to NYC before as it's easy access, on foot or by public transport, to all the major sights. I wouldn't hesitate to...

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since first opening its doors in 1926, the InterContinental New York Barclay has welcomed countless guests to enjoy a luxurious residential-style experience in the heart of the city. Originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion, The Barclay became one of four notable railroad hotels built to service the well-heeled men and women travelling to New York City. Its convenient location, directly above the railroad tracks, permitted the hotel the unique distinction of having its own platform in the basement, ideal for the upscale rail traveler who occasionally arrived by private train car. In addition to its Midtown East location, the hotel made an immediate impact with tenants and critics alike for its characteristic atmosphere of comfort and elegant domesticity. From that moment, The Barclay began to write its history as the hotel of choice for those looking to take respite in this stately residential hotel of international prestige. Today, the InterContinental New York Barclay remains Manhattan’s preeminent luxury hotel after undergoing the most ambitious restoration in its history. Combining sophistication and contemporary design, while staying true to its original Federalist style details, The Barclay exudes confidence and warmth, delivering the same residential feel with modern comfort and flexibility introduced to the world in 1926. ... more   less
