This is a very nice hotel. Wonderful remodeling, spacious rooms and good service. I can't say it's not a good hotel. I expected a great nights sleep given the quality of the hotel but the beds are too hard and others felt the same (so it wasn't just me). The breakfast prices are outrageous (as are any other decent hotel...

We stayed here for 3 nights over the St Patrick's weekend. Lovely spacious room on floor 11. Room 1106 right at corner. Never heard a thing at night was so quiet, although that might be because of all the walking that made us in a deep sleep. Perfect location for us and hotel staff where lovely. Hopefully be back soon.

I loved this hotel. The service was phenonmenal. It was just a few blocks away from a subway hub at Lexington and 51st. Concierge was so helpful in providing directions. Lobby looked amazing! Staff very professional!!! Complaints: Cleaning staff in the morning were talking to amongst themselves very loudly and the noise carried down the hallway. Against my better judgement...

I stayed 13 days in Intercontinental the Barclay. The hotel has a very good location in midtown, very clean large and friendly lobby. I just found the standard double room too tiny, but requested an upgrade to a king room which was decent. As mentioned by others reviewers toiletries were not regularly replenished, other than that it would have been...

We LOVED staying at the InterContinental New York Barclay. We stayed using our IHG points, which is an incredible value. The hotel is newly remodeled and simply gorgeous. We loved the white and black tile in the bathrooms, high-end fixtures, snazzy lighting, the luxurious bar area, and the very comfy bed. The common areas are a treasure. The Gin Parlour...

Stayed for a convention. Good rooms and suites. Very comfortable. Walking distance from several restaurants. Good food around. Several other hotels nearby so a good place to stay during conventions. Prompt service.

Another fantastic stay at The Barclay. We enjoyed our beautiful room, luxurious linens and products, super delicious food at the Gin Parlour, tasty cocktails at the bar and great overall service. I highly recommend checking out the Gin Parlour to all travelers and locals. Looking forward to my next trip back!

The stay was short but long enough to enjoy the many amenities that the Barclay had to offer. The staff was extra helpful in making sure I had everything I needed - ensuring I had a ride when I was checking out. The new remodeling was done very tastefully - they kept the original room door ornament - a very...

We live in New York. We decided to stay within the city on our wedding night and we definitely made a right decision in choosing to stay at this hotel. The premier room was comfortable and perfect for the two of us. We appreciate the hotel's thoughtfulness when they sent us a complimentary sparkling wine and strawberries during our stay....

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Since first opening its doors in 1926, the InterContinental New York Barclay has welcomed countless guests to enjoy a luxurious residential-style experience in the heart of the city. Originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion, The Barclay became one of four notable railroad hotels built to service the well-heeled men and women travelling to New York City. Its convenient location, directly above the railroad tracks, permitted the hotel the unique distinction of having its own platform in the basement, ideal for the upscale rail traveler who occasionally arrived by private train car. In addition to its Midtown East location, the hotel made an immediate impact with tenants and critics alike for its characteristic atmosphere of comfort and elegant domesticity. From that moment, The Barclay began to write its history as the hotel of choice for those looking to take respite in this stately residential hotel of international prestige. Today, the InterContinental New York Barclay remains Manhattan’s preeminent luxury hotel after undergoing the most ambitious restoration in its history. Combining sophistication and contemporary design, while staying true to its original Federalist style details, The Barclay exudes confidence and warmth, delivering the same residential feel with modern comfort and flexibility introduced to the world in 1926. ... more   less
