On Sept. 25th, 2022, my wife and I checked out from Belleclaire hotel. The night before our departure I approached the front desk to request the possibility of a late check out. One of the desk front officer (the younger one) offered a symbolic half and hour late check out and asked me to request to the next morning’s front desk officers a longer check out time. The following morning what happened was that I was offered the same late check out extension without any offered. In fact, the person in charge was clear when mentioning that, as a hotel’s policy, only half an hour was offered to guests as a complementary late check out. That’s it. To put it clear, I am not complaining because I was not given a longer late check out (even if half an hour is more of a symbolic late check out as mentioned). I am disappointed because we were not treated fairly. The front desk officer on evening Sep. 25th could have mentioned that complementary late check out was only half an hour and that was all he could offer to guests. However, he did not and this is why I understand we were not given a fair treatment. Instead of that, he sent us to speak to another colleague the following morning knowing in advance that the answer was going to be exactly the same: half an hour late check out as a rule. In a world of fierce competition, loyalty means a lot. Behaviors like these ones Do Not contribute to generate loyalty ties with customers. Hence, I would respectfully suggest those responsible of Hotel Bellclaire’s customer relations to review their customer service’s protocols in order to avoid in the future practices like the one above described.

Hotel's Favorite
The hotel is located very close to central park and the red line subway. Very short walk. They just completed renovation and the hotel has a classic feel with some modern twists. All of the staff were friendly to us. The room was very clean and functional. Good size by nyc standards. The housekeeping lady left extra towels just as we requested during our stay. Nothing to complain about

Shanies has been outstanding and very helpful to make my stay short but very sweet! The hotel is well situated and super accessible. Rooms are clean. Lobby is well maintained. It’s giving a cache of new and chic.

We had a nice king size room that was lovely and inviting. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They handled our bags prior to checking in and again after we checked out so we could go out and experience the Upper West Side without worry. The hotel organized a car to take us to the Newark Airport, making our stay seemless and effortless. We highly recommend the Hotel Belleclaire!

We have stayed many times on the upper west side, but this is our first time using the Hotel Belleclaire; we'd definitely stay here again! It is excellently located for access to any parts of the city via bus or subway. You can easily walk to the Museum of Natural History, and Central Park. It is surrounded by many good restaurants! We took the red-eye in from SF and they offer, for a small fee, a 10:00am check-in, which is a wonderful amenity. We were well served by Shanies when we checked in, and by all staff when needed. For a quick breakfast, there is the outstanding bakery with an entrance thru the hotel lobby. All of this, and at a very reasonable price for a New York hotel. The room was tight in space and there is no refrigerator, but more importantly, the bed was comfortable, there was a good sized TV, and the bathroom was more than adequate!

Hotel Belleclaire offers modern minimalist decor in an old-time hotel with some degree of charm. First things first: I'm deeply grateful to Francella at the front desk, who made a special effort to relocate me after I had spent my first night in a room that was right behind the elevators. (That fact was not obvious from the start because the room was partway down a hall, and for the first few hours of my sleepless night, I thought that someone upstairs was dragging furniture around!) Francella was sympathetic and efficient in moving me, and she even took the trouble to check in with me at the end of her evidently 12-hour shift to make sure I was truly comfortable. Pros about the hotel: good location; attractive lobby; clean throughout; reasonable-size rooms; updated bathrooms; good beds; good elevators; wide carpeted staircases at both ends of the main corridor; streamlined room decor; no carpeting in the rooms (good for those with allergies). Cons: narrow halls branching off the main corridor (tight for bulky suitcases, and seemingly likely to get clogged in an evacuation scenario); rather austere room decor; no carpeting in the rooms (an element of the spartan feel). I've listed some things as both Pros and Cons because they can be viewed differently according to your preferences.

We loved our stay here. Great staff, super clean and gorgeous historic building. We also loved the bakery downstairs and the 10 per person per day credit gifted by the hotel. It was also easily walkable to all UWS places and Central Park. Would highly recommend!

I used to live in this neighborhood and walked by this hotel almost every day. So I knew the location would be great. But I had no idea it was so nice inside. The lobby is lovely and all of the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. And the rooms, although small (it is Manhattan, after all) have everything you need and it's extremely clean and comfortable. My room faced an alley so it had no view nor sunlight. But this made it very quiet, which was great. I'm sure there are other rooms that might be larger and have a better view but I'm sure you'll pay more (and the quiet was worth a lot!). Finally, one of the best surprises of this hotel is the Mille Feuille French bakery next door (actually there's a lobby entrance). Each room is given two $10 vouchers for each morning. This can be used on anything they sell. I even got a delicious sandwich to eat on the plane the day I left. The pastries and bread were amazing--like you get in Paris! And although the line is long in the morning, you can use the vouchers any time you wish. This is a wonderful benefit of staying at this hotel. I'd eat there even if I didn't stay there. But, having said that, I will definitely come back to the Belleclaire on my next visit to NYC.

The best part about this hotel is the french bakery on the ground floor. If only ever hotel's complimentary breakfast consisted of a voucher for $10 worth of fresh croissants instead of a stale-bagel-and-rubbery-egg platter. The room itself was small, but clean and comfortable enough. I had a rear-facing room, so the view of the back alley wasn't my favorite part about anything. But the location is great too. Near subway stops, Central Park, museums, etc.
