Hotel Belleclaire offers modern minimalist decor in an old-time hotel with some degree of charm... Cons: narrow halls branching off the main corridor (tight for bulky suitcases, and seemingly likely to get clogged in an evacuation scenario); rather austere room decor; no carpeting in the rooms (an element of the spartan feel)...

...While the rooms and general ambiance throughout the hotel are lovely, and the location is wonderful, it is the staff that make Hotel Belleclaire truly shine above the rest! Literally every staff person we encountered (and there are many when you stay somewhere a whole week) seemed genuinely interested in ensuring our stay was as great as possible... They all went above and beyond to help us when we reached out with a need or request... We'd like to give a special, huge thank you to Shanice who took very good care of us upon our arrival, helping us solve an unforeseen (by myself) issue, and to Maria and Hector who helped us kindly throughout our stay as well... From the front desk, to housekeeping to the building engineer and all the incredible staff in-between, they all exceeded our expectations with their professionalism and authentic care... We could not be more grateful for such a dreamy stay and would highly recommend Hotel Belleclaire!...

...Location, staff, cleanliness, all top notch... We were a party of four and the clerk would only give me vouchers for three while the reservation confirmation clearly stated breakfast for four... The hotel's breakfast room is located on street level and I needed to wear my winter coat to breakfast due to the arctic winds and freezing temperatures that accompanied my coffee and croissant... Reception staff gave us top notch service to solve a stuffed toilet issue at 4 AM... A refrigerator, coffee corner and a working telephone would certainly be appreciated...

...It’s a great location and we were able to take the train to within two blocks of its location on 77th and Broadway... We arrived early, around 12 noon, but Maria, at the front desk, was wonderful and allowed us an early check-in at one, once the room was clean... When we returned, Maria had a room available, which she upgraded so that we had a bit more room, and a wonderful front facing view... On arrival we were also given a gift box of macaroons which my daughter loves as well as breakfast tickets for the continental breakfast they provide from the bakery next-door... Coming out of the pandemic, it was a real pleasure to experience such wonderful customer service!... The young man who was the bellman was a gem... On top of the kind and professional staff, the room was lovely as well...

...Along with the great value for price, you get a complimentary pastry and drink for breakfast which was well welcomed. We are especially delighted with the excellent service by the front desk (Benedict, Mark, Maria and Shanies) who, upon hearing that we were on our honeymoon, gave us an amazing room upgrade!... We are no experts on New York boroughs however the area felt very safe and the front desk made sure that we were well accomodated!... Also the closest metro stop is only a couple of blocks away...

...The lobby is a French pastry shop, which we ate breakfast every morning thanks to the hotel giving us vouchers. ...When we first arrived Benedict was so friendly and upgraded our room for us so we didn't have to share a bed... The towels were bright white and very absorbant... The sheets and pillows were so comfortable and also white & crisp... We requested TP for the room because for some reason it was hiding in the closet rather than hung in the bathroom so we didn't see it... A few minutes later, someone arrived with several rolls and asked if we needed anything else... We asked if there were any blankets available and were given nice quality blankets for each bed also within minutes... Everyone was so attentive and we felt very well taken care of... I was also pleasantly surprised that our room received a cleaning and a turn down service while we were out exploring the city... Staying near Central Park was so much nicer than other places I have stayed in the Times Square area and you can be in Times Square in about 15 minutes by taking the Red #1 train on the subway that is one block over... We will definitely return to this hotel for any future NY visits, thank you staff, we really appreciated the personal attention that we received... One area of improvement would be to fix the bad wifi signal, otherwise, no complaints from us...

...The foyer is beautiful and when we arrived we were warmly greeted by Benedict who was excellent during our entire 4 night stay. Nothing was any problem and he always greeted us when he saw us every day and showed interest in our plans for the day and offered good advice... Breakfast was an added bonus from the amazing French Bakery adjoining the hotel... You can get served in the hotel or in the little bakery itself and bring your breakfast into the hotel to enjoy... Having had difficulty finding a lovely diner for breakfast on our previous 3 trips meant we really appreciated having such a wonderful breakfast in our hotel... Our room (2 double beds) was beautifully appointed and newly decorated... It was extremely clean and we had maid service every day... I am claustrophobic and was concerned when I read a review about the tiny lift however Benedict directed us to the service lift which is bigger and was less of a problem for me... The $120 taxi fare from JFK airport can be easily avoided by taking the Air Train ($8) to Howard Beach then the subway ($2.95) to Columbus Circle (about 20 or 21 stops)... 1 line to 79th Street (about 3 stops)... It is also worth buying the $33 (7 day unlimited rides) on the subway and bus ticket...

...The Hotel is located UWS away from the madding crowd, yet easy to access anywhere in Manhattan with multiple subway and bus options only a few short blocks away. Also fantastic was the little French cafe attached to the hotel which, dependent on your room rate, you are provided vouchers which can be redeemed in the morning... When we asked reception if there was anything that could be done we were told ‘come down to reception where it is better’...

...With my mom mobility issues, the front desk staff (Michael, Bennett & Marial) we’re SO wonderful & accommodating to me & my mom! They even switched up our room for a Handicap accessible one when we asked... These guys were fun, funny & help to put me at ease when they saw me SO stressed out as I was trying to accommodate my mom’s needs, making sure she was doing ok & got what she needed, and to keep her safe!... But I have to tell you, The front door man, (I don’t think his name was Hector, was it?... I thought his name started with a B, something like Berle…oh, I’m SO, so sorry I don’t remember his name) though, if it is Hector, I have to tell you, this man was so wonderful & kind to my mom….and helpful to me!... When he saw my mom getting out of my car, was having problems walking into the lobby, he assisted by making her feel at ease, by letting her take his arm & walk with her!... He actually left his post to walk her up to our room, as I had to deal with going to park my car at a nearby garage!... Room was clean, small, but we managed!... All in all…I really can’t say enough for the treatment & accommodations we received during our stay there!... Plus, I do have to say, the people at the Belleclaire, as well as during our outings around NYC, were very accommodating to my mom & I, as I did have her in a wheelchair most of the time, opening & holding doors for us, giving a hand to helping us with whatever was needed at the time to help my mom be successful!... Though we don’t come to the city much these days, I will be sure to arrange to come stay with you again next time!... Thank you for everything you did for my mom & I, making our stay the best it could be!...

We received a room upgrade and early check-in (my daughter needed to work), and on my actual birthday, a box of macarons from the great bakery next door to the hotel... ...The night before our departure I approached the front desk to request the possibility of a late check out. One of the desk front officer (the younger one) offered a symbolic half and hour late check out and asked me to request to the next morning’s front desk officers a longer check out time... In fact, the person in charge was clear when mentioning that, as a hotel’s policy, only half an hour was offered to guests as a complementary late check out... The front desk officer on evening Sep. 25th could have mentioned that complementary late check out was only half an hour and that was all he could offer to guests... Hence, I would respectfully suggest those responsible of Hotel Bellclaire’s customer relations to review their customer service’s protocols in order to avoid in the future practices like the one above described...

We loved the Hotel Belleclaire for its simple charm, and we slept very well in comfy beds and crisp linens. We had a family suite which was clean and comfy... Water pressure on the 7th floor was great with plenty of hot water... 2 blocks from the 79th street subway, CVS across the street for any incidentals, and quiet area of the city... We did have to request an additional washcloth each day as we were always given two for a suite with 3 beds and 3 guests...

Our stay at the hotel was amazing the location of the hotel and the price of the hotel you cannot beat it!... You’re really close to a couple of trains, and there are a lot of things to do within walking distance the room size was actually quite nice... We loved having a private bathroom to herself and waking up in the morning to smell the fresh bread and coffee from the bakery with something else... We will definitely be returning to this hotel and staying every time we come to visit...

...Our room was a good size, had a very comfortable king size bed, good a/c, adequate wardrobe space. The bathroom was an accessibility bathroom so it was huge, and with seat in the shower, which was actually three showers; a waterfall one, a wall mounted one and a shower head on a rail... Breakfast is coffee/tea and pastries in an area adjacent to the lobby... They only offer ‘drip coffee’ in this place but the breakfast vouchers are valid at the lovely Mille Feuille next door... Maria in reception was as helpful and lovely as always,- as was Christina in Mille Feuille :)...

Our room was teeny tiny (even for NYC) with no closet but very clean with high quality towels and linen... All staff were very friendly which really makes a difference... The elevators are small but the stairwells are very pretty with marble and iron rails, if you prefer to walk up to your room... The vouchers for breakfast were a plus, and there were gluten free options for my celiac husband... It's close to Lincoln Center, Columbus Circle, the Beacon Theater, and the American Museum of Natural History...

We loved our stay at Hotel Belleclaire!!... Sare met us at the car, loaded our bags, got us to our room and knew what we would need before we could ask (more towels and water)... Francelle and Shanies at the front desk were very helpful during our stay... Breakfast vouchers for Mille Fuille (the bakery attached to the hotel) were given one for each of us per night of our stay... We were there over a holiday weekend, so a line could form for the bakery... Yet, the bakery knows how to move people through... Even if you don’t need the voucher for bfast, grab some macarons for later... There were four of us in a double queen room and it was not a problem... The location in the Upper West Side is wonderful... CVS across the street for anything the hotel can’t provide... We loved Hotel Belleclaire and would love to stay here again...

...The Belleclaire area is more residential, very safe, next to the Beacon Theater and very close to the Natural History Museum and Central Park. There are subway stations on both W 72nd and W 79th and there is a lot of shopping in the area... The two existing elevators were frankly insufficient for so many floors and so many guests... The rooms were very good and looked very clean and renovated... Our stay included breakfast (with this additional cost paid in advance)... This hotel breakfast has its own system, it is not the typical buffet breakfast... The hotel has a direct connection to a bakery-coffe shop (Mille-Feuille) and gives guests daily vouchers worth $10 per person... Both the bakery and the breakfast area are too small for so many people... Despite some less positive points that really need to be improved, we would return to this hotel for the fantastic location and cleanliness of the rooms...

Just got back from a 2 night visit to NYC with my 16 yo daughter to visit colleges and see some wonderful areas of NY including Union Square, Central Park and Washington Square Park. My wife and I flew to NYC for a family visit. We travel there at least twice a year. This particular vacation was fraught with disasterous airline/FAA controllers issues. We were trapped in NYC for an extra week because of the enormous amounts of cancelled flights. We booked the Belleclaire for our forced extended stay due to our familiarity with the hotel (we have stayed there before). Let me first tell you that we have always enjoyed our stay at this hotel. But, it was quite conforting to know that even though we were stuck in NYC for an extra week, we would be well taken care of by the hotel and staff. The staff, all of them, from management to the regular employees are wonderful. They are responsive to requests, they help you with transportation and things to do and see. We also couldnt ask for a cleaner hotel. They really take pride in their appearance and it shows. I mean, come on, this is NYC, the land of tourism! You would think that with that much foot trafffic coming and going, the place would be kind of run down, worn out. I assure you that it is not. An additionak benefit is the most lovely french cafe in the lobby, yes it does get quite busy, but people like good things so the crowds can grow for the cafe alait and pastries. The location of the hotel on the upper west side is perfect. When in NYC you tend to walk a lot! This hotel is centrally situated and is walkable to most spots you would want to visit. The subway system is still decent in NYC and this hotel is close to the subway lines. The added benefit for us, is the location to Columbus Ave, Broadway and Amsterdam Ave. Theses streets on the UWS contain so many restaurants and bodegas that you will be able to eat, whatever tye of food you want, whenever you want. So a quick recap. This is our favorite hotel in NYC! I reccomend staying here any time you travel to th 'Big Apple'. Kudos to the Belleclaire for this gem of a place. Go, you'll be gad you did.…

I stayed Hotel Belleclaire Nov 7th to 14th 2023. I booked my accommodation prepaid, so all room charges were paid before arrival. On arrival they wanted to have credit card. That's normal, but i did not know that they were going to double charge the room for whole stay. After my return to Finland i noticed they had charged additional $2500 for the stay from my credit card, even though i had paid whole over $3500 for it already. I made a reclaim, and they replied they'd refund it in 10 to 15 over business days, but they never did. It's a nice hotel, nice atmosphere, nice personnel, nice rooms but i recommend never to pay them anything in advance, because they can't be trusted and they might double charge you, like they did to me. I have been there twice, for the first and the last time.…

The hotel continues to get better and better, upgrading the rooms to where they are luxurious and modern while keeping the art nouveau style. The rooms are free from noise in the hall or on Broadway, the rugs are deep and soft, the blinds are electric allowing you to choose to let in the light and street scenes. The bathrooms are complete with excellent shower, room to place your items and toiletries. There is now a bar with a very pleasant bartender, a small restaurant with a separate coffee stand alongside a french cafe with the best pastries, coffee and macarons. The front desk (hats off to Shanies Hunte) sets the stage for making you feel important by knowing your name and in my case, my history of staying there many times over the years. Thanks also to Benedict and Joelle. They are ready with suggestions and get you whatever you need to make your stay complete. Tours of the area are free and available. I heartily recommend the Belleclaire. …

So many annoyances. First, grossly overpriced at $600 a night (including tax) for a tiny room without even a closet or a single hanger. Taking advantage of the new ban on Airbnb's? Adding insult to the price injury, as we checked out of our pre-paid room, they added a $30 "facility/resort fee." For what? This is no resort, and they had already charged me $600 for access to their "facility." Protesting did no good. WiFi was very weak, and was limited to one device per person, so you can't use hotel WiFi on both a cellphone and a tablet unless you have multiple different email addresses; I do and it still didn't work. I've never seen this in any other hotel we've stayed at. Walls were paper thin; we went to bed listening to someone across the hall and one room down tongue-lashing her partner for a half-hour. Were awakened before 7am Sunday morning by someone in the next room on an extended phone call. So we went downstairs to get coffee and a pastry at the in-house breakfast bar. The hotel provided complimentary coupons as part of the room price; how nice! The place was so tiny that the slow-moving line stretched down the hall - this just for hotel patrons trying to take advantage of the "free" continental breakfast coupons. We went out for breakfast and the line was still there when we returned. Ugh. …

I love this hotel. It has a very international feeling. The rooms are small but comfortable and very tidy. You get a bottle of wine and a voucher to their patisserie / cafe- the pastries are very good and the front desk staff are also friendly. I made a call for a blanket and help with my thermostat and both happened very quickly. The location is very central too. I walked to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, through the lovely Central Park in 20 minutes. It’s my second time staying here and i will definitely stay again if the opportunity arises. Shout out to Shanies for help with my late checkout. (Nov 20th 2023)

We enjoyed our experience very much. There are a few challenges with the elevator and the lines for breakfast daily which is why I gave it a four I would’ve given 4 1/2 but that was not an option. We enjoyed our time and we would recommend this place to anyone it is beautifully located off of 76 street close to Subway options but less hustle and bustle and being further downtown central Park was four blocks over very convenient. Staff was very good and accessible. Just some logistics in the hotel challenges that we felt were challenging for us.
