The Washintotn Square Hotel is the ONLY place to stay in NYC, and the nicest affordable hotel in Greenwich Village. Rooms are nice and location. You can walk to anyplace, restaurants, bars, music clubs. The folks at the front desk are nice, and helpful. The doormen were friendly and good.

An ideal spot on a charming block in the heart of the Village. Slightly Bohemian in decor, what WSH lacks in mod cons it delivers in a weary sort of old New York charm. Within walking distance to Soho, Tribeca, half of lower Manhattan & tons of great restaurants & bars. Most of the staff go above and beyond to accommodate with the notable exception of a particularly unhappy (bitter?) daytime desk person but Mr. Ronnie Jenkins manages to smooth out the rough edges! An overall great experience, by all means stay!

I spent two nights here in early November 2022. Located on the northwest corner of Washington Square Park in lovely Greenwich Village, this hotel is a gem in the rough. My wife and I had a superior room on the second floor with a window overlooking Waverly Place with views of the park. Our room was small, about 150 square feet (about 14 square meters), but clean and efficiently designed with drawers and closet space to store your clothes, shoes, and assorted belongings. It contained an in-room safe. The bed was very comfortable and you can control your own heat. The bathroom was small but spotless with sufficient towels and complementary toiletries. There was a tub with shower. The water pressure from the shower was very good and there was ample hot water. The shower was also easy to operate. The interior decor of the hotel was attractively decorated with tiled mosaics throughout. There is also a restaurant and small bar on premises with outdoor seating available in the now ubiquitous street kiosks. Although we didn’t eat here the food smelled wonderful. Staff at the front desk were extremely pleasant, friendly, helpful and efficient. With this hotel located right at the park you cannot find a better and more Central location in Greenwich Village. We highly recommend this establishment. Remember to leave enough time to enjoy the park with its many visual artists and musicians. On the day we left there was even a solo pianist playing there on a grand piano.

At the conjunction of NY.U. and the West Village, you are in the middle of the neighborhood bustle. Restaurants all around but the house restaurant is also good. Not a touristy area. Very reasonable room rates. Breakfast only on weekends but the classic Waverly Diner is a half block away.

A clean, decent hotel in Manhattan that provides reasonable value amidst the insane prices of its neighbors. The building is dated, but my room was quiet and a good size, and the bathroom was recently renovated with an amazing shower. The bed was also comfy, and there was an iron already in the room, which you (increasingly) can't take for granted at some places. Service was pretty good, and the fact it isn't a huge hotel is also a plus, in my mind. The immediate vicinity has definitely seen better days, but there were always lots of cops and NYU students around, so I never felt unsafe. It's no bargain, and would be ridiculously overpriced in almost any other market in the country, but for anything cheaper you are either in a hostel or across the river. So if you want to be in Manhattan, it's a very good option.

This hotel is close to everything cool. We walked everywhere, spending a lot of time at the comedy cellar, Washington Square Park, Soho, and other areas in the village. This staff is what makes the place awesome. The front desk, staff, the doorman, and housekeeping were all awesome people who helped us during our time there. The hotel is historic, and so many cool people have stayed there before. It’s been totally updated and comfortable, and we loved our stay!

The Washington Square hotel is the best New York has to offer. This historic hotel is charming and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. This Greenwich Village neighborhood is quiet and peaceful but close enough to hop on the subway or visit a local eatery and coffee shop. On the corner of Waverly and Washington Square, the atmosphere is everything you imagine Greenwich Village to be. I highly recommend this hotel. It is going to be my go-to place when in NYC.

I traveled solo to NYC to attend a concert at a club that was an easy walk from this hotel. The location was the primary reason I booked here. My room was very clean, comfortable, and well stocked. I felt the room was nicely sized by NYC standards. The room had great curtains which made for a great sleeping cave. I was not bothered by street or ambient noise at all and slept rather soundly both nights. The bathroom was sparkling clean, had great toiletries, and the shower was truly amazing. I would seriously stay here again just to use the shower. Every staff person I encountered was friendly, helpful and greeted me with a smile. It was easy to walk to the train, restaurants, the park, bars, clubs, or anywhere else nearby and I never felt unsafe. Great service, great property, would definitely stay here again.

Just the place to be when you want to be everywhere in NYC. I’ve been going back there again again. Just don’t expect a luxurious spacious room! Breakfast was great that was included in the package (only on weekends). *Thanks for being accommodating, WSH!
