The hotel is a bit faraway from the restaurants, shops etc. The hotel rooms need updating. The room and the corridore was a bit stuffy and the lift got stuck which was scary. Starbuck coffee shop is nice in the lobby. The gym facilities are quite simple. I would not choose this hotel ahain.

Kevin at the front desk was absolutely the very best! We stayed here only one night and we were upgraded to a suite on the 20th floor with a king bed, sofa, separate dressing area and very large marble bath...not to forget to mention the balcony with a table and four chairs!!! The weather was perfect for sitting outside and just lounging that evening. It was clean and perfect. I stopped by the desk when we got back from dinner and asked them to make up the sofa for the third person in our room and not five minutes later...they appeared! I have never been to a Westgate that did not have the very best service! Beautiful hotel and I will definitely stay there again! My normal stay in NYC is the Waldorf, but since they are closed for a couple years, I stayed here! So very glad I did!! Thank you Kevin for all your kindness!!

Firstly any of the staff we dealt with at this hotel were always friendly and helpful. It's a hotel with a lot of character and in a good location but considering it's in central Manhattan the location is actually fairly quiet. Turn left out of the hotel and you're heading towards Grand Central (approx. 10 mins walk) and Times Square (approx. 15 mins walk). Turn right and you're heading towards the United Nations (approx. 5 mins walk). Be sure to take the Roosevelt Island Tram (cable car) over to Roosevelt Island and visit the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park. A good place for breakfast near the hotel is The Sandwichery. I pre-booked our taxi online from the hotel to JFK and the cost was approx. $90. The doorman at the hotel told me he could have got me one for $61 so keep that in mind. Also on our last day we were not leaving for the airport until 7pm. Hotel reception very kindly gave us access to the fitness rooms so that we could shower and change before going to the airport. Our room was comfortable and clean. It did not have a view but if you're visiting NY then you will be out all of the time as there is so much to see.

PROS: Comfy bed, refreshening air conditioner and friendly staff. CONS: they gave us the smallest room , 110 sq.ft. , even do there were few people staying at the hotel, 3 very small elevators, the view from the windows was a brick wall.

Great hotel and really reasonably priced. Nice clean rooms which were serviced every day. Good location within 5 minute walk of Grand Central station which had excellent connections across Manhattan. Didn’t try their breakfast as that was a little expensive but it looked nice. Coffee was great though. Very nice helpful staff.
