Would definitely recommend! Location was walking distance (10 minute) down the street from Grand Central Terminal, 20 minutes walk to Bryant Park, 30 minutes walk to Time Square. Plenty of sights to take in on the way. We felt in a safe area and away from all the madness of Time Square. Plenty of wine stores, CVS, Dunkin’s and stores all around and nearby.
Rooms were all tastefully decorated in a modern design and had all toiletries supplied. Large flat screen tv. The beds were amazing!! So soft and comfortable, best beds I’ve slept in for a while… 2 blinds on windows so you have blackout. No noise from outside although very close proximity to other hotel room windows and close by apartment block, which is usual in New York, rooms were on the bigger size for New York. Ice bucket in room and ice machine on floors 8 and 14. Tea and coffee machine in room and free bottles of water whenever you wanted it. The resort tax for 4 nights was $160 non refundable and the security deposit is $100 refundable, make sure you’re prepared for this on check in. We didn’t have breakfast although we saw that breakfast was takeaway in a bag with coffee, so can’t comment on that. They let kids stay free in the bedding with the adults, no rollaways available, we had a Queen bed which was massive and plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 10 year old. Showers were powerful. Whole hotel is spotless. Special mention to our maid who cleaned 1215 and 1221, she was top notch and very attentive.
The thing that sets this hotel aside from all others is the staff, all staff were very friendly and welcoming and would go above and beyond to make your stay more enjoyable. Any request was never too much for them…. They always had a smile! The reception staff, bar staff, cleaners all very friendly. Special mention to Freddie the Bell Captain and Luis the doorman nothing was ever too much for them….. proper New Yorkers and assets to the hotel. I think if Freddie would’ve been able to drop us back to JFK he would’ve! We felt at home at the Westgate Grand Central and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again next time I am lucky enough to be in New York. 🗽🇺🇸

Stayed at Westgate Grand Central NYC for 4 nights whilst visiting with our 2 toddlers and my parents. Complimentary water on arrival and check in was swift and pleasant with the staff accommodating us by locating us rooms on the same floor. Great location, within walking distance of major attractions, eateries and grocery store right on your doorstep and MTA bus stop across the road.
My only complaint was there was no kettle in the room and when asked, I was told to heat up water with the tiny coffee maker which would pump out coffee residue. I did try asking at the bar for cups of hot water but was told by the barman Sam that he would have to charge me a cup of coffee for the privilege! Not cool. Ended up having to heat the children's milk in the microwave which was not ideal.

We travel to NYC several times a year and stay at whatever hotel gives us the best rate. I think we’ve finally found the one to return to. The Westgate does take a $100 deposit for damages and $40 per day as a resort fee. (If you’ve found a place in the city that doesn’t, drop the details below pls,)
We were given a corner room with two windows. The only time we heard our neighbors was when the door clicked shut. There wasn’t even sound from the street. It was nice to get maid service every day when most hotels only give replacement towels. Be sure to get your free waters every day from the front desk. As well as your free newspapers. There is a nice bar onsite, but no restaurant or hot food. They do sell pre-packaged food that will do in a pinch. A couple blocks away are a bagel shop and Dunkin’. There is also a grocery store a couple blocks in the other direction. Grand Central Station is less than a ten minute walk with the subway stop and other amenities. Times Square is about a 20-30 minute walk and taxis and ride services are plentiful.
Overall, the Westgate Grand Central is a solid midtown hotel.

The Westgate makes an excellent base to explore NYC. A short walk to Grand Central or walk straight along 42nd for 25mins and you’ll reach Times Square. Alternatively the no.7 subway will do the same.
Our Queen room on the fifth floor, was clean and spacious. The bottles of water provided on arrival were welcomed and check in quick. As others have mentioned, there was a $100 deposit to be paid (which was quickly returned after checking out) and there is a resort tax of just over $40 to pay per night.
In the room itself, the bed and pillows were comfortable and all the extras provided, ie shampoo, iron, hairdryer etc. Our view looked out onto the brick wall of the next building which wasn’t the best, but to be honest it didn’t bother us at all, as we spent little time in the room. We didn’t hear any noise from the neighbours and slept really well.
The air-con was really appreciated, especially in July and the rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels provided.
There are also plenty of cafes to eat at for breakfast around the hotel but they also have a selection of coffee/breakfast items for sale.

My husband and I stayed at the Westgate New York Grand Central from Friday, August 2nd through Monday, August 5th. However, due to our flight being canceled allegedly because of bad weather, we had to extend our stay for two additional nights. The hotel was incredibly helpful in accommodating us during this unexpected change.
Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the pleasant scent in the lobby, which gave us a sense that this hotel truly cares about making a good first impression. Every staff member we interacted with was super attentive and helpful, always greeting us with a smile and a great disposition to assist.
Our room was very spacious—something that's quite rare in New York City. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to most major attractions and surrounded by numerous restaurants and convenience stores.
We want to thank Mrs. Zelenovic, the general manager, for going the extra mile to ensure our stay was nothing short of wonderful. We highly recommend this quaint and cozy hotel without hesitation.

Great location, quiet, 5 minutes walk from the metro and 10 from the station of grand central Clean and well decorated hotel Some friendly staff but not the majority: receptionists even bow their heads as you pass by, seeming to want to avoid greeting you My biggest disappointment for this 4-star hotel is that we had to make our bed when we arrived at 11:30pm, after 20h of travel. Indeed, the 3rd bed was a sofa to unfold. I went down from the 13th floor to report the abnormal situation at the reception who replied “the sheets are in the wardrobe” , I am surprised and express my dissatisfaction The receptionist tells me he can send me qqn to make the bed “if I wish” This sofa is not at all comfortable with a fine mattress that makes a hollow in the center Upon arrival they ask for our CB to collect a deposit of $100 for room cards On the last day, we had not yet left the room that we were charged on this same $240 card for tourist taxes and hotel services!! I wonder what hotel services this is? The three coffee pods every day in the room? Contrary to the hotel’s website which let us think that there was access to an outdoor terrace, there is none. These are the balconies/terraces of the rooms We haven’t seen the gym, it’s not indicated anywhere. At the same time we did not ask the question However, the deposit of 100$ was quickly recredited following our departure and the return of the 2 room cards Too bad the hotel does not offer breakfast, the corner "supermarket" does not replace a real breakfast and remains expensive (a yogurt 5$)

Very nice hotel, very well located, less than 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro station, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable, the staff are friendly and welcoming. Plenty of towels and bath towels, a tray of tea + coffee replenished every day with the refurbishment of the room. View of a wall but in the evening we are washed out 😂 so not annoying. We would have liked a vacuum cleaner or dust broom on the bedroom floor from time to time. Don’t hesitate to ask for a small bottle of water every day at reception. The bar is pretty but the prices are quite high. Enjoy your stay, we will come back 👍🏻 don't forget in the budget the tourist tax to be paid in addition on site, quite substantial around €38 per night for us

We have just returned home to the UK after a 4 night / 5 day stay in the westgate grand central hotel.
I just want to start off by saying the staff are great, especially the bell men. The hotel is clean and smells delightful. The hotel rooms are slightly dated furniture wise but they are clean, very squeaky bed which appears to look like a sofa that forms into a bed.
The hotel has a Starbucks which is also great!!
The hotel itself is very central, it’s a 15/20 minute walk from time square where there is local underground’s. All of your bigger attractions such as empire state, Statue of Liberty the hotel is no where near close to any of these attractions and will require an underground.
The cab journey from JFK is around one hour long, costs 86 dollars there and 86 dollars back to the airport. Take into consideration rush hour traffic.
I would highly recommend IHOP for breakfast and I would recommend avoiding juniors diner in time square and stardust in time square (the worst food of our holiday and the most expensive)
On average it’s around 60 dollars for breakfast which is quite expensive but the city itself is self is VERY VERY expensive.
Overall a great holiday, our first time in newyork been an amazing experience. Would 100% return to hotel cannot fault it, staff are great.

I did so much research before this special solo trip to the Big Apple for the first time and although well into my 50s felt as excited as a teenager. My only concern was whether the hotel I chose from my armchair in UK would be as great as it looked online. I can resounding and categorically report that this hotel exceeded my hopes and was a major part of the unforgettable times I had in Manhattan. The art deco elegance of the hotel is in perfect keeping with the style of nearby Chrysler Building and Grand Central. The rooms are comfortable with excellent beds. The huge pluses are the room rate which is very reasonable for such a mid to high end hotel and the location which is pretty much perfect as you can walk everywhere throughout midtown, Central Park and Downtown. But it’s far enough away from Times Square to feel quite peaceful. The blocks surrounding Westgate have a variety of eateries, diners and takeout options. There is a resort tax when you arrive which seems to be $40 per night but even with this it is remarkably good value for a hotel that truly enhanced my experience. A special word for Kevin in reception and the very kind cleaning lady who were both very helpful and friendly. I thoroughly recommend this midtown gem.
