My mom booked this hotel thinking it would have full service amenities especially for the price that we paid. There is no hot food, well possible food you can heat up in the microwave. You have to go out to get your food daily . The bar only has drinks and you can get munchies from the convenience store. That is not what you are expecting from a New York hotel . I was highly disappointed. It is a old hotel that they are renovating. The beds were comfortable but that's about it . If you are paying close to 300.00 a night , and want full amenities , please stay somewhere else.

After months of looking and panic at the constant reference to how small NYC hotel rooms are we decided to book the Westgate, it’s clean modern formally the “Tudor”. It has had a nice facelift, things you need to know “free wifi” this can cost you in NYC so good to be free also 24hr prior free cancel so with pandemic it’s good to have this option. The hotel Is about 500m from Grand Central so perfect for access across tele city, $5.50 gets you out and back to most areas with minimal issues. It’s a 20-25 minute walk to Time Square, Broadway, the Chrysler building is about 400m away 20 Mins to Rockafella so near most places,. The room 1616 was spacious big floor space closet (wardrobe) and average bathroom, hot water took a few minutes to build up and maintenance sorted it within 5 mins of asking. We’ll worth a stay and we’d use this place again if we came back to NYC.

He was very knowledgeable and gave us precise directions to where we wanted to go. He was kind and extremely helpful. Jose was genuinely concerned about our city experience and was accommodating from beginning to end. Our hats off to him!!

Spent 4 nights at the Westgate and was very satisfied with everything from check-in to check-out. Nice room and cleaned every time requested. Staff was polite and accommodating. The location was great, close to the subway, on the bus line, several good eating places nearby as was Time Square. I would definitely return and highly recommend it.

I have never written a bad review of a hotel before but I don't want anyone else to have my experience. My office's travel agent booked 2 rooms for me and a colleague- and I got a confirmation. When we arrived, there was only one room reserved and we were told there was nothing else available- the front desk clerk asked if me and my male colleague could share a room! I ended up taking a taxi out to friends in NJ. The following night I stayed at the hotel (because my colleague was there) and in the morning I went to the gym, got undressed to shower and realized there were no bath towels in the room. I called downstairs and 10 minutes later called back and then 5 minutes later called again! I ended up showering and drying myself off with face towels. When I complained about both issues to the manager, she apologized and blamed the room snafu on my travel agent.

Stayed here for 5 nights on my first ever trip to NYC this past August - my husband and I went with my brother and sister-in-law who had also never been. We requested rooms close to one another and we were originally on the same floor, but we had to be moved 2 hours into our stay because we were given a connecting room (see: ZERO noise dampening) beside a rowdy bachelorette party. Our new room was 2 floors down and fine for the first few days. We didn't get washcloths despite my asking several times. We were given a new set of towels when I requested washcloths that didn't include washcloths, only two new towels. The towels in the room were all tattered and coming apart and had holes in them. My brother's room had a view of a brick wall. We had a slightly better view of a different brick wall. We weren't given coffee one morning, and when I requested more from the front desk we never received it. Then our A/C went out and maintenance was in our ceiling at 11:00 pm trying to fix it. They couldn't and said we'd have to change rooms AGAIN. This time they tried to move us to an entirely different tower, even though we told them we wanted to stay close to the family we were travelling with. Upon seeing how far away this was, we decided to stay put as we were only there for 2 more nights. It was scorching that week in NYC - temps in the 30 degrees celsius range - we really needed that AC! Finally, our bathtub was clogged and every time you took a shower it backed up and filled halfway with water. The staff was nice, even though we had so many challenges with this property. I have left 3 follow-ups on the various surveys I was asked to fill out after my stay asking for at minimum my resort fee of $30+ USD a day to be refunded (what did I get for the resort fee? Just wi-fi, no AC, no coffee, no amenities?) and have yet to receive a response. I sent an email with this request as well and have not received a response. We've travelled all over the world and this hotel was easily one of our most frustrating experiences because of the multitude of small frustrating details that were easily fixed. I am not satisfied with my stay at this property and if it's your first trip to NYC I recommend you stay somewhere else!

We recently visited this hotel for the 7th time (the first time post Covid) and I really can say that it just keeps getting better each time. The renovations to the hotel are superb. The rooms are clean and spacious and the upgrades are excellent. When we arrived it was lovely to see such amazing staff who alway greet you with a friendly smile. The check in process was fast and efficient and our bags were quickly taken to our room. The bar area is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed going for a drink at the bar after a long day around Manhattan. A massive shoutout goes to Jose the Bell man. Nothing was ever too much trouble and he always went out it of his way to go that extra mile. He really is amazing and a true ambassador for the hotel and the Westgate brand. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Manhattan as it truly is the best and it is staff like Jose that makes it that way. I am already counting down the days until I can return.
