We stayed at the Excelsior for three nights and loved the room. We had a sitting area with a sofa and a bedroom separated by French doors. Both were large, spotless and well decorated. The bathroom was lovely - beautiful hand made tiles, great shower and lovely smelling toiletries. Behind the desk staff were very efficient, but not overly welcoming....

We learned to our disappointment that in order to have a room with view rather than wall(though called 'courtyard view) we needed to ask for a standard queen. So for our 3 night stay we had 2 beds and a small sofa/TV area--but view of opposite wall. The location across from Museum of Natural History is near subway, bus, many...

The hotel exceeded my expectations regarding room comfortability and spaciousness. Got a Central Park view room and this added to the experience. WiFi in the room is not included and full breakfast has an extra charge but you won't get this value for the money. The staff was always willing to help. Well located in the Upper West Side. Would...

Should you stay at the Excelsior Hotel - depends what they offer you. If you get a room at a really great rate and want to be on the upper west side, and they don't put you on the first three or four floors, then it's a great place to stay. We had a clean, quiet and spacious double room...

Just stayed here. For the money, a great value. Easy access to the subway. Very happy. Sure the rooms were a little "old", maybe the furniture wasn't perfect, but when you are getting a cheap room in NYC you don't care. It was quiet and it was clean, all I can ask for. Staff was super helpful, in fact I...

We had a VERY long day, and as we approached the Excelsior, we were greeted by the doorman who immediately took our bags and led us to the front desk. We had no problems checking in. The concierge showed us to our room. We had a suite on the 10th floor. He walked in ahead of ys, turned on the...

The Excelsior Hotel, which overlooks the Museum of Natural History and is just one long block from Central Park, has been for years my go to place for an overnight in NYC. It's in a relatively quiet part of Manhattan and only a few subway stops from downtown and Times Square. However, it's starting to show it's age. Rooms run...

Quiet a lovely hotel, location on the Westside near the park and subway, so handy, but still a wee way from the action of midtown. We found the entire hotel too warm, the lobby, halls and room. We had both air conditioners on the lowest setting and yet the room was still too hot. Staff friendly, no free wifi in...

The Hotel is lovely, clean, quiet and has friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. Any issues and they are fixed straight away. Conveniently located, 5 mins walk from the subway, Central Park and Natural History Museum. Concierge Angie and Liz were great! Both went above and beyond the call of duty to help and be on hand for any...

For a NY hotel, the room was large and pleasant, though it looked onto a shaft. The location is excellent - the Upper West Side is at your doorstep, it's a short bus ride or walk across Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum, and the subway to Midtown or beyond is half a block away. My only complaint is that...
