Good location with access to museums and Central Park. Not at all impressed with the facility or the amenities. Staff were not overly helpful. This was a decent stay for what I needed, however, I will be choosing another hotel for my next trip to NYC.

We had a suite. Our rooms were up to date and comfortable. Good size rooms and bathroom for NYC. I agree with other reviewers that the heating system is quirky but we were comfortable. Beds were good. No noise problem. Great location - across the street from the museum and planetarium. Very good neighborhood. Staff was friendly and helpful. I...

Not what I expected from the pictures and reviews. Staff was nice enough. Rooms are old and need to be updated. Appearance seems dirty. Heater in room made a loud noise all night long. Location is great if you are here to see the Macy's day parade balloons being blown up. Coffee in resturant is terrible. Probably wouldn't stay here...

The heat in our room was uncontrollable even after we tried unplugging the unit. I have stayed here many, many times. This trip We slept miserably even with two windows wide open. The air conditioner blew hot air on its coldest setting--we tried everything. Front desk and door staff are always pleasant.

This was our second stay at The Excelsior, both times for the marathon. Check-in was easy and help with bags was available if we needed it. Our room was ready early so we didn't have to store our bags. The room was comfortable and our only complaint was the AC/heat unit was loud and no mini fridge, either. Very close...

Elegant upper west side hotel. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Great location, half a block from the park. Great hotel. The hotel bar is a nice place for a nightcap. Only negative was that the facade was under construction and our museum view was through a mesh.

The Excelsior Hotel is in a great location on the Upper West Side of NYC across from the Museum of Natural History and near Central Park, good shopping and many restaurants. Second, its prices tend to be a lot lower than other hotels. The only drawback, and not an insurmountable one at all, is that a couple of the hotel's...

When we first arrived by cab we noticed the scaffolding on the outside of the building. There was construction going on. Luckily it was a weekend and there was no one actually working but the view of the NYC skyline was obscured. The lobby was beautiful with dark wood and trim. Elevators were a little slow and old. The room...
