Disappointed with the hotel. Found the staff to be quite rude and the toilet was not clean when we arrived. We had travelled around the US in budget hotel and found much more for our money. Such as a better breakfast and double beds. Would not stay again.

I'm honestly surprised by the bad reviews I find on here.. The older decor of the hotel is nothing to complain about, but something to appreciate. Its traditional, pretty and gives much more ambience than your modern day hotels. Pictures are available on here and on their website, they know how it would look, so why complain once there? It's... Great room - small-ish (but you don't need a big room when you have the whole of NY city on your doorstep!), clean, comfy beds. Concierge staff helpful (but I didn't find them overly friendly). An absolutely excellent location, and subway just a few blocks away. 'Bread and Butter' across the road has in incredible array of buffet food (can... More

Extremely small rooms with no fridge, poor ventilation and poor A/C. Toilet blocked up in middle of night and shower leaked and flooded bathroom floor plus bath pooled around feet as didn't drain properly. Power Outlets not mounted on wall properly. Beautiful old interior on the plus side. Like most of NYC , Filth & Garbage stacked car high in... More

The hotel is in dire need of a face lift. The room was about 2 feet larger than the bed. In window air conditioner which cooled the room efficiently but you can't leave it running when you leave the Room and have to listen to it all night long.

By modern standards this is a small hotel, with small basic rooms, old slow elevators, and out of date fixtures. But, it has an elegant lobby from another era, and a convenient location near Penn station, K town, and the Empire State Building. Sure, we couldn't open the doors to the bathroom and closet at the same time, but it... More

This hotel is a registered landmark historic hotel. The minute you enter the lobby, it has that golden-era feel with the gilded molding, high backed chairs and crystal chandeliers. The front desk has the old key slots behind the desk. It is a charming hotel, and with any thing classy, it has its wrinkles. This hotel was built in 1904,... More

My partner and I stayed here in May. We chose the hotel based on its reasonable price, central location and reviews of its breakfast muffins! I can honestly say we were not disappointed. The location is a stones throw from the Empire State Building and provided a great central hub for our few days in the big apple. The hotel... More

My husband and I stayed here as apart of our honeymoon and to be honest it was a disappointment. The rooms were dark dingy and depressing. They desperately need updating to make them more inviting. The bed was uncomfortable and sagged in the middle making us roll into each other. The room was adequate but nothing to write home about.... More

First of all the reviews about rude staff are nothing I did experience. The reception was professional and kind, not overwhelming like the typical New York people.. :) The rooms are good and clean, the bathroom tiny but acceptable. So nothing to worry about, I could recommend to stay here. The prices are more than reasonable and the location right... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
