Detailed Reviews
Myself a couple of pals stayed here in January 2019 for 6 nights in a triple room as we got a great price for 3 the three of us. I was a bit concerned about the space as most NYC hotels only offer two beds in one room, however we took a punt and felt it paid off to some extent.
The room was split into two rooms, with one bed as soon as you walked into the room, then there was another big room behind that with two further beds in, plenty of space. Both rooms have big flat screen TVs with a number of premium channels and plenty space to hang clothes in two cupboards. The bathroom was very small but done the job without issue.
The hotel itself has an old-fashioned grand lobby with great staff who were happy to help with any concerns and luggage. They also offer a free breakfast every day from 6.30-9.00am of muffins and tea/coffee.
The only issue we had with the hotel is that the water stopped working on two occasions throughout a six day stay, but it was dealt with within a couple of hours of it being reported.
The location of the hotel is ideal and is only two blocks from Empire State Building, one block from 5th Avenue and 10 minutes walk to Times Square.

Wolcott specializes in the TRIPLE rooms, 3 regular hotel single beds. No roll a ways no cots no folding beds. Because Wolcott hotel in New York City is over 116 years old our room lay outs allow for the bigger configuration. The water was an issue, we had some emergency repairs that need to be done. Next time use tenoff

We debated for so long over what hotel to book for our stay in New York, we looked extensively at reviews and after a noticing a very well written response to a clearly malicious review we decided to book The Wolcott. Well I can honestly say we were absolutely delighted with our choice. Everything about this place was perfect for us - location, cleanliness and of course the staff. The hotel itself is luxurious in design in the lobby and has an old fashioned glamour to it. The room again had the same feel to it but had all the mod cons and facilities you could need. The breakfast muffins were delicious and certainly saved us some money on breakfast every day. The staff were helpful, polite and accommodating at all times. We traveled with our 13 year old son and the triple room set up we had was perfect. I honestly do not have a bad word to say about this hotel and if we return to New York again this would be our first choice.

This was a very nice hotel for the money and they have updated it. I was totally glad they have sitting rooms in Jr. Suites. If I needed anything the staff went out of the way to accommodate. My showers head went out and they replaced immediately and we were drinking adult beverages but no refrigerator and the service man saw this and brought a refrigerator up without me asking. The only negative is the Coffee is terrible, I would walk two block to the 711 each morning to buy coffee, also our room was next to the service room where the garbage was kept. It would ruin your day once you step off elevator. I would most definitely stay here again. Great location.

Thank you for your nice comments about the hotel. Glad you took advantage of your Jr Suite room. For only $10 dollars more you get a second room, with a seating area. We hope do see you again. Our coffee, many reviewers like our coffee but for you to say it is terrible is not fair or correct. With many national and local chain coffee stores near the hotel you pick 711 to go to. What is that? You Tony are not a coffee connoisseur There is Starbucks, Dunking Donuts Paris Cafe, Gregory's even McDonald's All offering better coffee than 711. Which 711 did you go to the one on Madison ave or the One on 5th south of the hotel? I know taste is subjective, and I found it funny , your comment about our coffee. We hope to see you again, and use code tenoff. I would also recommend having the tea next time. I am drinking coffee from the Bread & Butter shop across from the hotel now. Try it you may like it.

We spent 19 days at the Wolcott. Location was great we walked to Time Square. Although room was small no complaints it was clean. Front desk staff were not that helpful when asking questions it was an effort to get an answer from them. If you have seen the British show Faulty Towers this best describes this hotel. Don’t even bother seeing the concierge we asked about the hockey game that night at Madison Square Garden after a half an hour he tried to tell there was no game on. We walked to Madison Square Garden that night and watched the game. You won’t get a coffee and muffin after 8.30am all gone and if you do muffin is stale. But like I have stated great location in New York

Thank you spending your Christmas and New Years Holiday with the Wolcott Hotel in New York City. After reading your comments I would say speaking to the front desk would have solved most issues expect the stale muffin. Since the Wolcott Hotel has been operating for over 116 years, the style of construction was that rooms were different sizes and speaking with the front desk, they would have moved you to a larger at at no extra charge. The concierge service are not employees of the hotel, we use an outside company to handle this task. Lately I have been hearing negative things about them and looking for a replacement company. The time of coffee service is told to all guests upon check in and is published in the in room guest directory. While it does not go all day, it stops at 9:00 AM. Front desk and I have been known get a cup after hours and not spill it on me or the guest ( like Jon Cleese would) Now to the muffin, this is the first time since we started coffee service someone has said the muffins are stale! Did you try another one? Were they stale during your entire 10 day stay? Sorry about that!! If the free stuff is not to your liking you can of cause eat outside the hotel. I do again want to thank you for your 10 - 19 day stay with Wolcott. Signed Mr. Fawlty

My daughter and I come to the city every 2 years or so. This is my favorite hotel so far over the past 15 years. They have maintained its historic charm while keeping it clean and up-to-date. The lobby is not only gorgeous but a comfy place to sit with your COMPLIMENTARY coffee and muffin each morning (NOT typical in NYC!) There is a small “museum” in the lobby that has many photos of the hotel’s history. There is also a booklet in the room that provides you with those historic details. Room is typical NYC small but not uncomfortably so. We are a 20 minute walk from broadway and just around the corner from the Empire State Building. We would definitely stay here again.

The room actually had two rooms which was a pleasant surprise: one sleeping area and a small room for business or living one. The area is quite, the hotel brings impression how was it to stay 100 years ago with tapestries in that mode and bathroom look. Quite an interesting experience. Recommendable to stay in NYC because it is in short leg to all main attractions.

Thanks for you nice comments. Your room a a jr suite. Two rooms for only $10 more. Wolcott Hotel in New York City brought the look and feel of the lobby up to two floors, the 2nd and 3rd , our "green rooms" are inspired by our 116 year old un renovated lobby. Plus we are located near what makes NYC famous.

We were a party of four on a five night stay at this period hotel. I can honestly say that this hotel is one of the best that we have stayed at. The decor and ambiance is great with the feel of a real turn of the century (19th century) town house.
The staff were really helpful and unfailingly pleasant and I must really highlight the guys on reception who were exceptional in directing us to the best ways to get to various attractions and even kindly offering one of their subway cards for our trip to Coney Island. Even the youg guy fixing the lift (sorry elevator) was really chatty and fun. All in all it made our trip all the more memorable.

It’s took a while for me to write a review, but with plenty time on my hands, thought I’d do it now lol.
We had a fantastic time in New York, and this hotel was a perfect base. It is a building of great history and a superb entrance/foyer area.
Staff were very friendly, muffins and hot drinks were a perfect way to start the day. In all fairness, there’s plenty places to eat so why do hotels need to provide a menu!!!??
Our room was of a good size, the view not of anything of note, and the bathroom had everything in it that was required, even if a little “tight”.
Overall, a great base. Round the corner from Empire State Building, 10 mins to Macy’s, 25/30 mins to Times Square.....defo stay again.
Stay safe everyone 👍

The true the Hotel is located in the center of New York City, close to the Empire State Building and Macy's department store. Our coffee and muffins are good for a quick pick me out but there are better restaurants in the area. Hope to see you again when this change back to normal.

We stayed twice at the Wolcott. Over Christmas and then back for New Years. The hotel is a classic! We felt like we were in a movie stepping back in time.
Rooms are small but very good size for New York!
Bathroom was fine. 1st room the shower head didn’t work right but 2nd room it was good.
Beds are perfect!!!!! I mean this is what your paying for right and if I was just rating the bed I would give it 5 stars!
Coffee and Muffins are a nice touch to get you up in the morning.
Felt very safe and plenty of places to eat close by.
The only thing that was a negative (which isn’t a deal breaker) was the carpets are super worn and we preferred to keep our shoes on.
This hotel is a nice place to stay and has heaps of character. If you are someone that likes all the ‘inclusions’ of a hotel then this might not satisfy you but if you are wanting somewhere clean, nice and close walking distance in NY I would recommend here.

Booked a long weekend for family and friends, we picked the Wolcott because of its midtown location, and the offer of twin beds ( not that easy to find in NY).
Upon arrival the receptionist looked at us and said ‘oh, the rooms have queen beds’. I said we had specifically asked for twins, he replied don’t worry leave it with me. A few minutes later, he replied do you mind being on separate floors, we said no, ( 4 ladies travelling together), and then gave us our rooms. Both rooms had a double and a single, so problem solved. Was really impressed with his efficient way of sorting the problem.
Hotel was spotless.
Location is sensational, around the corner (sort of) from Macy’s and the Empire State Building. Loads of places to eat for breakfast and dinner. The inclusion of coffee, tea and beautifully fresh muffins every morning was a lovely touch
The interior will not be to everyone’s taste, it is a landmark building, and they have kept the interior intact. I grew to love it.
We all agreed we would stay again.

That you for your nice words about the Hotel Wolcott in New York City and our staff. We are located in the center of tourist NY, Near Macy*s Department Store and the Empire State Building. Broadway and Downtown are near by. Glad you like our grab and go express breakfast of coffee tea and muffins in the lobby in the morning. Our interior dates from 1904 the time of the Golden Age of Edith Wharton. Hope to see you again soon.

Easiest would be to take a taxi from out of airport terminal to hotel. But not the cheapest. Look at our website for cheaper but not faster ways if you are still interested
Yes, the rooms have hair dryers plus iron and ironing board
Yes, coffee and muffins until 9AM
No, resort fee, only NY taxes about 18% per day.
No kettles in the room, you want a kettle pay more somewhere else. We do offer coffee tea and muffins in the lobby in the morning. There are two rooms on with a queen bed then pass though arch way to second room, the polar room with a day bed.
I think best for you would be our triple room. One room with two singgel beds, the other room again through a pass through arch way has the triple bed.
Worth the money is really on a question you can answer! Wolcott is a good value hotel.
