This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Myself a couple of pals stayed here in January 2019 for 6 nights in a triple room as we got a great price for 3 the three of us. I was a bit concerned about the space as most NYC hotels only offer two beds in one room, however we took a punt and felt it paid off to some extent. The room was split into two rooms, with one bed as soon as you walked into the room, then there was another big room behind that with two further beds in, plenty of space. Both rooms have big flat screen TVs with a number of premium channels and plenty space to hang clothes in two cupboards. The bathroom was very small but done the job without issue. The hotel itself has an old-fashioned grand lobby with great staff who were happy to help with any concerns and luggage. They also offer a free breakfast every day from 6.30-9.00am of muffins and tea/coffee. The only issue we had with the hotel is that the water stopped working on two occasions throughout a six day stay, but it was dealt with within a couple of hours of it being reported. The location of the hotel is ideal and is only two blocks from Empire State Building, one block from 5th Avenue and 10 minutes walk to Times Square.

Wolcott specializes in the TRIPLE rooms, 3 regular hotel single beds. No roll a ways no cots no folding beds. Because Wolcott hotel in New York City is over 116 years old our room lay outs allow for the bigger configuration. The water was an issue, we had some emergency repairs that need to be done. Next time use tenoff

If you're looking for a sleek sophisticated modern hotel the Hotel Wolcott is not for you, but if you're looking for a piece of New York history, great architecture and an absolutely stunning lobby then the Hotel Wolcott has it all in spades. Our room (a twin) with a view of the Empire State building was clean and a good size, the beds were comfortable and towels white and fluffy! The decor is old fashioned but totally in keeping with the hotel. It is noisy but no more than you would expect in New York so bring earplugs! WiFi is free and there is coffee and muffins in the lobby in the mornings. The location is great, close to the subway, Penn Station and a short walk from the highline. The Hotel Wolcott is also amazing value compared to other hotels in New York. It's quirky and full of character and I would highly recommend it if you want something different from a chain and want to stay somewhere beautiful and comfortable for a decent price.

Pros: well located in midtown, just blocks away from the subway. It is an old hotel but very clean and safe. Cons: My room, 803, was awfully cold every night. First night, they said the heating system of the building had a problem, then on second night, they said my heater was actually close and "fixed it", and after that I just gave up, closed the blackout curtains and used 2 extra blankets at night. The bathroom was the Antarctic, there was no heater at all. I tried to get a solution at the frontdesk on 2 occasions but it seemed like they just did not care. I stayed for 5 nights in the middle of January. Maybe in Spring and Summer is a great place, I suppose.

Correct, Wolcott was having heating issues for the dates you are talking about. No other guest had the Antarctic in their room. I sorry no one suggested moving your room. Next time contact me directly and we can try to work something out. We are glad you stayed the entire time with use and did not move to another hotel.

I was a little nervous about staying here because the price was so reasonable (comparatively speaking) ... and I couldn't have been more pleased. My room and bathroom were absolutely immaculate. The shower was powerful and hot, and the room was beautiful. Crown moldings, 1800's decor ... I loved everything about it. The lobby is exquisite, with a library, plenty of comfy chairs to sit, a winding staircase up (there are elevators) ... and friendly people at the desk. I will always stay here when visiting Manhattan. 5 stars!

Thanks for the nice words about the Wolcott Hotel. In January we lower our prices. Come September they will be higher but you can use code tenoff. The hotel was completed in 1904 and has been running for 116 years. We like the fact that we keep many of our original architecture . Glad you like the chairs, we just got the new couches, sorry love seats. The front desk is always there to help. Hope you see you again!

Great location, easily accessible from everywhere. Room was small but cosy and the hotel staff were always polite and friendly. Liked the morning coffee and muffins, nice and fresh and a selection of flavours. The hotel itself could do with a lick of paint and a bit of updating, one the last day we left our suitcases in what we thought was a little room, it was in fact a massive space, ball room type area that the hotel just don’t use. I thought it was such a shame given the history of the hotel and how grand it could be. Reception arranged our transfer back to JFK which was a great help.

Thanks for your nice words. Wolcott Hotel in New York City is accessible to everything the City has to offer. Since the hotel is over 116 years old, not all the rooms are the same size, next time ask if a large room is available. Yup, the ballroom is a great space ! it is used for movie, tv and fashion shoots. Your front desk will arrange most site seeing excursions for you. Hope to see you again.
