This hotel is located in the center of the restaurant row and close to most of Broadways theater. It is great for vacation or work. Great rooms, very clean property and huge and complete breakfast buffet great for a day full of activities that the big apple offer.

Hotel's Favorite
I picked this hotel because it was comparatively inexpensive and its location in the heart of the Theater District. I was very impressed by how helpful the front desk was, the cleanliness of the room, the decor, and the incredible breakfast buffet. It is about 15 short blocks to Central Park for anyone looking for a pleasant run or walk. In addition, it is just a block or two from Schmackery's Cookies (yum!).

Located halfway between Penn Station and Central Park it is a great location when staying in NYC and going to the theater. Lots of theaters and a myriad of restaurants to choose from. Times Square is an easy walk away also. Based on the performance of staff I would say this is one of the top hotels we have ever stayed in. Staff are friendly, accommodating, and obviously used to dealing with all kinds of guests. Room was clean and very European in style, i.e. not overly large, but with everything you need for a stay when you are not planning to hang out in your room. Why would you in NYC? The breakfast buffet was ample and diverse and kept well stocked. We were there on a weekend and they had three dining areas open so wait times were minable. Our view from the 24th floor was grand and being that high meant street noise, a constant in NYC, was not disturbing to our sleep, Our bed was very comfortable which was good because we did a lot of walking and needed recovery time. We checked our luggage when we checked out as we did not need to leave NYC until mid-afternoon. When we returned to pick it up one of the staff came out with us to help get us a cab. There had been a parade up fifth street and he knew it would be tough to hail transport. He knew where to go and what to do and made it easy for us. I wish I had gotten his name so I could have commended him to management. A fantastic overall experience that we will hope to experience again the next time we go to New York.

We stayed here when visiting NYC. The hotel is very modern and clean. The room was spacious and the shower was excellent however the door did leak slightly. Generous sized bed. This hotel is well positioned for getting around and being close to time square is handy. Breakfast was included which was handy however it was a bit of a bun fight in the mornings due to how busy hotel is. The bar was great however some unsavoury characters were about one night who had drunk far too much. I think the hotel staff should have been a bit firmer and put them out sooner! This was a very good stay overall. Have marked it 4 stars on basis it is not a luxury hotel as such but it is clean and convenient for seeing the city. Also not too pretentious in that we could feel comfortable coming in wearing shorts and trainers.

Unconscionable mandatory $88 “facility fee“ for which you get a couple of bottles of water (depending on the length of stay), gym access, & “free“ Wi-Fi, which can’t reasonably be considered an “extra” these days, + they force you to enter detailed demographics to access it, presumably so they can use/sell your mined data (it never functioned as that process was interrupted by a dropped signal); an insulting rip off which will make me avoid RIU properties in the future. Otherwise: New high-rise hotel with very slightly nicer/larger rooms than comparable hotels in Times Square. Nice bedding, small desk, small area for clothes storage, full length mirror, mini fridge, safe. Pretty nice bathroom with basic toiletries, magnified wall mirror, shower (no bath). No robe/slippers/umbrella, and most disappointingly no coffee makers, or even complimentary coffee/tea in the lobby (because they want to force you to purchase it in their concession). The lobby has some cool artwork, but the “bar” is dismal (basically a convenience store with a small bar, ambience-free seating in the lobby). They’ll arrange a cab to the airport for $20–25 more than getting one yourself.

I have just come back home from a 4 night stay here. Firstly I want to Thank Micheal for a speedy check-in when we arrived. Especially after arriving a day later due to a flight cancellation. He was extremely professional and helpful. He helped us with any questions we had. Michael is a credit to Rui Plaza and should be recognised for his 1st class customer service skills. Please thank Micheal on my behalf. Secondly, the rooms - they were cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis and clean towels provided each day. Thank you to housekeeping for all their hard work. Lastly, the breakfast - so much choice and everything piping hot. Again the staff worked so hard, nothing was too much trouble I cannot fault this hotel. This is my 4th stay in NYC and this will be my preferred hotel when returning. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family. 5 star service all the way! Negatives - Nothing

Hotel was pleasant enough, clean and staff were friendly. This was the 5th different visit to a Riu hotel as we have had some lovely family holidays with the Riu hotel chain but on this occasion the service was just unacceptable. We was not told that we would have to pay a $200 deposit when checking in at the hotel which I understand the hotel needs to cover itself for damage or theft purposes. I have now been home 3 weeks and still not received my deposit back and the communication from the hotel has been very poor. I have contacted the main reception desk and I have been pushed from pillar to post. I was told when we checked out I would receive our deposit back within 3-5 working days. When I called the contact help line, as usual, I was speaking to the wrong person who can’t help me 🤷🏼‍♂️ Not the end to a 40th birthday celebration I wanted but if this stops someone else getting ripped off then it was worth the time writing this review. I don’t think we will use this chain again which is a massive shame and I’ve been to New York in other hotels and never had this problem. Probably cost me the $200 in phone calls to the hotel as I live in the Uk.

It would be wise to largely ignore any of the pre-Covid reviews left for this hotel as things have clearly changed ! My wife and I stayed from 2nd - 6th May and this is how we found things. As has been stated previously, the location is superb, a couple of minutes from Times Square, Broadway, several subway stations, Pier 83 for sightseeing cruises, 5th, 6th and 7th Avenues and everything in between !!! Check in was quick and easy although at busy times a queue did form but in truth that has happened at every hotel we've ever stayed in. The reception were always friendly and polite and any queues soon disappeared. Our room was spotless, the bed comfortable and housekeeoing was carried out everyday meaning that standards of cleanliness were maintained throughout our stay. There was also an iron and ironing board in th room should you feel the need. Breakfast - much has been mentioned of thie previously but this is what we experienced. During our stay the hotel was fully occupied, yet we only queued on one morning and then for only a few minutes. We usually arrived at about 7.30. The whole operation ran like clockwork, we were shown to a table which was then ours for that meal. There was a huge choice of hot and cold food, pastries, cereal, breads, juices, teas and coffees with plenty of crockery and cutlery. We were not rushed in any way and the staff, despite it being busy were always cheerful and friendly. In addition, staff also maintained access to the numerous lifts near the restaurant entrance. We arranged our airport transfers through the hotel concierge service and again nothing was too much trouble. We had a slight problem with internet connection but again the reception staff dealt with this quickly and were really helpful and we got the impression that they really enjoyed their work. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would gladly stay again .!
