Great location in Midtown for sightseeing and getting around via bus or subway. Room size is amazing for New York hotels. Continental breakfast is a great time saver and a tremendous value. The entire staff was amazing! Shhhhhh! (this hotel is a best kept secret)! We'll be back.

I stayed at the San Carlos Hotel on business last spring and was pleasantly surprised. I chose the hotel based on price, location (proximity to by business meeting) and reviews. I found that the hotel, while not the cheapest, was a great value for the money. The room was a decent size and nice condition. Plenty of restaurants within walking...

We spent two nights at the lovely San Carlos Hotel, on East 50th Street in NY. The room was luxurious and quiet, and the staff was great. The hotel has a very gracious feeling and is unlike many of the other NY hotels that have a commercial atmosphere. The room rate was inexpensive for New York, because we were there...

This is an awesome hotel. It is across from the Kimberly Hotel which I also hear is good. But I will never know, because I have no reason to look anywhere else. Everything was excellent from the manager, bell captain to housekeeping. We had reserved the hotel's car to the airport and were a few minutes late getting back to...

close to 5th avenue, and a lot of subway opportunities, you reach everything smoothly. we had suits which were large and convenient. also had a kitchen if you want to eat in. If you pay before the travel, you can have discount, and it is a good deal. I'm not sure about the regular rooms. breakfast is only bagels and...

We stayed in the San Carlos from Dec 25, 2011 - Jan 1, 2012. We stayed in a 1 bdrm suite which was large by any standards, and extra large by NYC standards. It has a small kitchenette with microwave, frig, sink and storage but no stove. 1 bathroom which was average. Hotel was clean, modern and updated. We have...

Good sized rooms, great location, and helpful staff. Good little breakfast to get you on your way, saves stopping off at other eateries and instead making the most of this amazing place! We went in December and the Christmas themes throughout hotel very tasteful. Already looking to return this year! Special thanks to Matthew the doorman!

Our family of 5 (children aged 12, 10 and 7 yrs) stayed in a suite on the 15th floor for 7 nights over the New Year season. The last time my family stayed in a hotel (a Marriott in DC), my husband vowed never to stay in a hotel again. It was that negative of an experience. The San Carlos changed his mind. I booked a 4-day stay right before Christmas based on the Tripadvisor reviews after looking for a suitable hotel and location for months. We're...

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
