I booked this hotel for my parents and was concerned about the space and quietness. They stayed in the one bedroom suite. It was extremely spacious, clean and very quiet. Being on the side street made it easy for me to drive over and pick them up (vs in Times Square or somewhere bustling with people and cabs and sound).... More

I usually visit NYC once a year visiting clients and family. I began staying at the San Carlos perhas five years ago, and return because I find it a great value and a great location. I have always found the service very helpful and the facilities impeccably clean. The May 12, 2010 review is simply not credible. I unhesitatingly recommend... More

WE spent a week in the San Carlos Hotel, everything was positive, actually it is an extremely well kept hotel. Everything is spotless, very well maintained and it obvious they must replace immediately anything that gets worn out. It is a good feeling to stay there... WE had a one bedroom suite, consisting of a bedroom with a king bed,... More

We had another wonderful stay at the San Carlos 4/21-4/25/10. The suite was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Everyone who works here is very helpful and professional. Love the location of this hotel and it's a nice peaceful place to return to after a long day of sightseeing and walking in NYC. Somehow they make you feel like you are... More

We were on holiday in Mexico and due to fly back via New York when we had our return flight to the UK cancelled due to the ash from the Icelandic volcano. We knew we could get as far as New York, so on our last night in Mexico we went onto tripadvisor and found the San Carlos in NYC... More

Spacious for NY hotel rooms, rooms have large comfortable beds with a seating area for watching tv. Rooms have microwave and small fridge, spacious bathrooms which are modern and clean. Our room faced 50th which was a little loud eventhough we were on the 8th floor. Breakfast is included in the price of your room, not the best but its fine.... More

Enjoyed a great stay at this hotel that has a family feeling. Perfectly installed in a suite with one big bedroom with 2 double beds and a living room with a small kitechette. Very clean, great room servive and friendly staff. Good location, close to 5th Avenue and St. Patricks Church. Only improvemente that I suggest is the complementary breakfast... More

A very nice hotel with friendly owner who let us have our room until four pm as we had a late flight. "I don't want to treat anyone like a foreigner," he said!

I needed 2 rooms, one Q/Q & 1 king, no exceptions. Most of the 4 & 5-star hotels in the Midtown/Upper East had no Q/Q this week, I guess because of Spring Break & Easter, so I was pleased to find one at the San Carlos & booked it thinking it could be a backup plan. Nothing else emerged, so... More

After all the positive reviews, I felt this hotel was something of a let down. Our kids, ages 6 and 8, my husband, and self rented a junior suite. The room was adequate, but we probably did not get a remodeled one, as there was no flat panel. The breakfast was barely OK, coffee very mediocre, so would give it... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
