We always like to stay at this lovely hotel as it so well situated and the staff are so warm , helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend it to people who travel to New York, specially if you’re a family.
We were very surprised and disappointed to be told that there was an add-on charge of $240 when we checked out. This was a Facility Fee of $30 per day + sales tax and NYC tax. Whatever about the tax which is probably unavoidable, the facility fee was totally unexpected. I have stayed in many hotels both in NYC and other countries and have never been faced with this. Location was excellent, the room was fine, quiet too but this should have been flagged at the booking or checking in.
We were in town on business and arrived before checkin. We were greeted by two friendly bellmen and a clean entranceway / lobby. Evelyn assisted us at the front desk, she was friendly and attentive. During our checkin we were rudely interrupted by another guest. Evelyn handled the entire situation unbelievably well for how disruptive and rude the other guest was acting. She had our bags held until our room was ready. Our room was clean and up to date. Check out was quick and easy. We will be back, thank you for a great stay and Kudos again to Evelyn for the great customer service.
We have just returned from an eight night stay at this hotel and would definitely return in future. Although not ultra modern we were very happy with our executive junior king suite which had a small kitchen with a handy fridge, a safe, an iron, a hairdryer, trouser press and towelling robes. Housekeeping attended to our room every day and it was always clean and towels replaced. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we slept well as the street outside was reasonably quiet overnight. There were plenty of restaurants/cafes/bars close by and it was an easy walk to Central Park/Broadway/Times Square and many other sights. The subway was nearby for visiting attractions further away. As mentioned previously it was lovely to return to the peace of this hotel after a busy day...it was like coming home! …
We had a great time. The location was fine, close to the subway and quiet at night. We had a great room with king size bed and 1 and half bathroom! The kids slept in the other room in a sofa couch. There was a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Check in was fast.
I was here for 7 days and my first time in NYC. Extremely clean, staff was so helpful and in an accessible and safe location. The hotel is a sight for sore eyes after daily traversing through the city. And, it shares a wonderful Indian-Chinese restaurant which I ate at twice during my stay. The hotel is also quiet and there are no sleepless nights! Every night of my stay, my room was cleaned and put together perfectly by housekeeping. To top it off, the kitchenette was so necessary to keep all your beverages and leftovers throughout your stay. I’ll definitely be coming here again on my next trip.
My husband and I along with our 2 kids, ages 10 & 7, recently stayed at San Carlos during our 8-day trip to NYC. Every day was filled with tons of walking and sightseeing, but there was nothing better than coming "home" to our hotel at the end of each night. We simply loved it. We stayed in an Executive Junior Suite with a king-size bed and all four of us fit quite comfortably. There was more than enough room to walk around and lounge on the couch to relax. The cherry on top was having a small kitchenette which included a microwave, small refrigerator, Kurig coffemaker, plates/mugs/utensils, as well as a bar table with chairs. We were able to heat up leftovers, store bottled water, and even take home a whole pizza from Sophie's nearby to eat in our hotel room! Our room was neatly cleaned every morning, trash & dirty dishes were removed, and any small thing we requested was given quickly. San Carlos is such a gem - from the location, the rooms, the ambience of their lobby and their 2nd floor business center (thank goodness for your additional restrooms!), their Aveda bath products (stellar brand), and most of all, everyone who works there. We were always greeted by someone when we walked out to start our day, and as we came back “home” at the end of each night. It’s all in the details and San Carlos nails it. Thank you Evelyn, Mr. Bobby and everyone at San Carlos for a wonderful stay. As the kids would say, Best Hotel Ever!…
Nice ,clean ,friendly , hotel Great NYC location. Good for tourists, business stay. From reception to housekeeping, close to shopping, restaurants, subway, I liked very much . Recommend staying there.
We have stayed in the San Carlos hotel. We have shared the room with our three daughters. It is one of the only hotels that allow 5 guests in the same room. We had a queen bed, a sofa bed for two and a rolling bed was added. Still, we were comfortable. The room was clean, everything worked as expected, air conditioning, hot water, coffee machine, etc. We highly recommend this hotel. Last but not least, the staff working in the hotel was very helpful and were eager to provide all the support we needed so that we could have a great time in the hotel. Thank you all for the great stay in the San Carlos Hotel!!! We will be coming back soon!!!!
We had never been to New York. We loved it and we will come back and when we do we will stay here. The room we had was really big and easily accommodated the five of us (two adults and three teenagers). There is only one bathroom and so some serious negotiation and diplomacy skills were required! But there is a little kitchenette and a lounge area with a really comfortable sofabed plus two large beds in the bedroom and loads of clothes and suitcase storage. The hotel staff were absolutely lovely, noticing my husband limping (he tore his calf muscle just before we left on holiday) and bringing us ice for him to put on it. They did the same for my daughter the next day! We aren’t unfit, she was just breaking in new sandals and we were walking miles every day, because the hotel is so centrally located you don’t really need public transport. If you are prepared for a bit of a stroll you can get to most of the main tourist attractions on foot. A really fabulous place to stay.…
