Having visited New York four times before this last visit we have not been particularly impressed with the hotels. They seem to be overpriced and tatty. However we were pleasantly surprised with the Roger. Yes, as with all other New York hotels, the rooms are small. The bathroom is particularly small, but the staff make up for this as they...

I had a fantastic time at this hotel, the staff were so lovely and friendly and the room was super clean. Location was right next to the Empire State and so centrally located to get everywhere easily in the city.

I have really enjoyed staying at the Roger. It is a well appointed, clean, modern hotel with a friendly staff. We arrived a little earlier and they were able to get a room for us quickly. There were a couple issues on this trip however. First the toilet apparently had an issue and would fill every 2-3 minutes which was...

The Roger is an absolute gem of a hotel! I had my birthday whilst in NY and the hotel kindly left a bottle of champagne in my room and the whole experience was just incredible and it is hard to put into words. Lovely atmosphere, very festive and great building location, good value, lovely staff, breakfast area nice, bar really relaxed. Minuses - Room a little too dark (needs better lighting) and some of the fittings a little tired (e.g. Recessed Halogen fittings visibly dropping out of ceiling). Breakfast appeared understaffed at weekends.

One elevator not working, waited 15 minutes for only working elevator to go up. Chose to walk down 14 flights of stairs after waiting 14 minutes for elevator. Room is way too small! Bathroom size is ridiculous! $7.00 bottle of water in the room??? Really? Coffee in the lobby shuts down at 10:00 am on a Sunday?? No manager on...

We stayed three nights early December. Wonderful location and so stylish. The warmest of welcomes, all service excellent and Dana who mixes the cocktails is a genius. Her Manhattan is incomparable. Highly recommended

We stayed at the Roger hotel for 5 nights during thanksgiving. The hotel is very plush from the exterior with stylish black and white awnings over the entrance windows. We were greeted by friendly staff at check in and although our room was not ready (check in was 3pm and we arrived early at 2.30pm) the staff were radioing to...

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This June, The Roger is unveiling a sophisticated new look after extensive renovations of its public spaces and guest rooms. Standing at the crossroads of uptown and downtown off Madison Park, the new Roger is a marriage of chic design and old world comfort, while continuing an unyielding commitment to superior service. The fresh aesthetic of the Roger’s public spaces is curated by hospitality guru Steven Kamali and designed by the notable Anna Busta. A collaboration of renowned talent has distinguished a transitional hotel that caters to the demands of the modern traveler and local tastemakers alike. The vaulted lobby lounge provides an ideal space for any time of day or occasion, from morning business meetings to lunch with family, or catching up over cocktails with friends. To update the spacious guest rooms, the Roger tapped Annette Jaffe of MSM, whose timeless original design has kept travelers returning year after year. Jaffe’s new rooms are characterized by lush custom pieces and applied moldings to naturally compliment the historic building’s unique rooms and inviting terraces. Whether for only a night or a weeks long stay, the Roger is the savvy traveler’s home away from home. ... more   less
