This review has been long overdue. I stayed at the Roger Smith during the weekend of Oct. 17th to celebrate my birthday. Since there were not many options available due to COVID, booking a room was the best idea, especially since the rates are low now. I got the best deal. I upgraded to an one bedroom king suite with maid’s room, kitchenette, dining room and living room. I had so much room and the suite was beautiful. Elegant and charming. The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful, especially Sophy who works at the front desk. She gave me wonderful recommendations to local restaurants, stores that were opened nearby and always checked in to see if I was ok. Also their safety precautions with COVID made me feel safe during my stay. I was the only person on my floor. I would definitely recommend staying at the Roger Smith if you’re in the NYC area. I loved it so much that I am planing my next staycation there in late December.

Hotel's Favorite
We (2 adults, 2 teenage sons) stayed here last year in a suite with two bedrooms. We have only good things to say about the Roger Smith. The location is excellent, within walking distance to many tourist spots in NYC. What is so great about this place, is that it is NOT one of those newer (chain)hotels without personality. It is an older hotel, the decoration and interior is traditional, romantic and well maintained. Every evening, after a day of sightseeing, it felt like coming home. Good size rooms, kitchenette, great house keeping, nespresso machine with ample supply of coffee. Plenty of cupboard space for storage of suitcases and clothes, good bathroom with good supply of towels and nice toiletries: Aircon and wifi functioned well. We had some really good nights sleep in excellent beds. All in all we we very happy to stay here.

First, I need to say that we did not stay at this hotel, but we had planned to stay a couple of nights at Roger Smith at the end of a 6 weeks roadtrip which we sadly had to cancel due to Covid-19. At the time we were planning our trip (and no sign of a pandemic around), we already interacted twice with their customer service: checking some room details + planning for a shipment. That shipment contained a doll (which we cannot order in our home country and which is also not shipped to places outside of the US) for our daugher and would have been the surprise for her at the end of our trip. Already the contact made at this time was handled super friendly and customer oriented. Then we were no longer allowed to enter the country, but the doll had already been shipped to the hotel. Despite thet difficult time that NYC and for sure also the hotel were facing, our issue to get the doll to Europe was handled by the customer service manager Paula Caro Garre in a professional and friendly way. I can't say today when we will travel again to NYC, but I can say for sure that if we travel, we will stay at Roger Smith Hotel. Again, a big thank you to Paula Caro Garre!

Nice & friendly staff, great location, super spacious and comfortable room, Residence room offering Greek Yogurt with granola, coffee, tea, etc. Every afternoon from 5pm to 7pm the hotel offer plenty of snacks (cheese, crackers, fruits, sodas, etc) I loved the fact that the room has a refrigerator, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker, bath robes, plenty of towels. I didn't like the bathroom size, but it was ok!

Myself and my boyfriend have just stayed at this hotel for a week. Upon first entering the hotel I was really disappointed as it is much more run down and ‘rustic’ than the images show online. The hotel definitely needs som TLC and updating, don’t be put off by this the first time you enter, as after the first night staying in the hotel I realised I had a fantastic nights sleep and I had to just take the hotel as it was.... dated but quaint and homely in what is a very busy crazy city! It is in a FANTASTIC location! Approx 15 min walk to Times Square which was brilliant and only 5 minutes walk to 5th Avenue! The staff were lovely, polite and couldn’t do enough for you! The breakfast they offer is literally just granola, yoghurt and your standard fruit, so don’t get your hopes up with a breakfast! However dunkin doughnuts and Starbuck are right next door! It also is opposites deli (a small supermarket which was great for getting some bits). Overall I would say that the hotel needs to update and take a little more pride in their rooms- we had bleach stains on the carpet, sofa and curtains which was strange but once you realise all you want to do is sleep and be cosy after a busy day in newYork, you realise it provides just that!
