This hotel is in a great location on 50th street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. It is 1/2 a block to the 50th street C/E subway train station and half a block from the 50th street 1 train station. A great location for walking around midtown and easy to jump on to the subway to explore the rest of the City. I appreciated being so close to the subway after a long day of walking.

The hotel itself is in an older building and has some structural limitations in terms of room size and amenities, however even though the rooms are small, they are nicely renovated with tall ceilings (my room had a chandelier) and they have all the modern things you need like 4 plugs on the night stand and 2 USB charging ports, flat screen TV with lots of channels, a nice desk and a mini-fridge. I was traveling solo so saved some money and booked on of the smaller rooms.

The hotel has one elevator which I was worried about when I checked in, but sine it was a smaller hotel I never waited more than a minute for the elevator and never shared it with more than one other person or couple so it was perfectly adequate.

The staff were what stood out as well. The front desk and lobby staff were friendly as you would expect, but also all the maintenance and house keeping staff were cheery, smiled and greeted you and really made you feel like a valued guess. When it goes past just the front line staff You can tell the management is encouraging a culture of customer appreciation.

Some other tips. There is a Pharmacy at each end of the block to pick up drinks, snacks, etc. An excellent restaurant is on sight. Starbucks and McDonalds are on Broadway one small block up. If you are coming in to LGA, there is an express bus that takes you to the subway where you can take the E train to 50th street station in 6 stops in about 30 minutes (faster than a taxi during the week day). Also from that direction the 50th street station has escalators which are helpful with luggage.

Great location, being close to Times Square, Broadway theatres and just a few blocks away from all of the food options in Hells Kitchen. For a City Break, where you won't spend much time in your room, it's ideal.

The rooms are small ... you get used to it but they are a bit cramped. I think they would benefit from tea/coffee making facilities in the room. You can easily bring in a coffee from Starbucks, etc. at night, but that's not much good first thing in the morning. There is a free tea/coffee/snacks (crisps, etc.) station in the Basement but the first time we tried its the water was cool so we avoided it after that.

There was a problem with the boiler on the final day of our stay so we didn't get a hot shower at all that day. I guess these things happen, but it ends up being the last thing you remember about the Hotel and everybody likes to freshen up before a long flight.

The staff members we had dealings with were all friendly and very helpful - especially Mikey on Reception when I realised I hadn't printed my pre-booked theatre tickets (and needed to).

Would I recommend Amsterdam Court Hotel? Yes, for a city break and being located close to the action.

Would I book again? I'm not so sure. I suspect I can find a few more "creature comforts" for more or less the same price.

Nice hotel. Staff was amazing!!! Very friendly. Our room was very cold. A lot of drafts from the window. We had to put towels to block the draft from the windows. You can hear noise from other rooms which is why we noticed ear plugs on the night stand. Very close to everything which made it super easy. Would have given 5 star if it was not for the cold drafty windows.

From the moment I entered the Amsterdam Court Hotel, I was greeted with warm smiles and a sincere willingness to help and I immediately felt that my decision to stay at the Amsterdam Court Hotel was a wise one.
Robert reassured me that my belongings would be safe and I believed him!

Gabby, at check-in was so wonderful. She was warm, friendly, professional and so helpful! I couldn’t wait to write a review about her because I felt her sincere efforts to accommodate me! Gabby did everything she could to give me and my band the best experience possible at the Amsterdam Court Hotel.

We arrived on Thanksgiving two female friends and had requested a twin room. Our request was placed in the impossible bracket, due the the holiday and full occupancy, no option to change rooms later in our 5 day stay.
We were not told that our room would be only get housekeeping once every 3 days so the free bottle of water daily wasnt offered and we didnt have a fridge either. We also didn't have any heating.

We couldn't ring down there was no response so I emailed customer services and didn't get a reply to that either
We had to sit on the bed in coats!
When asked how my stay was I pointed these out but the female staff member just stayed silent? No apology no explanation nothing.
Great location but a lot of work needed.
Positive was a comfortable bed that we had to share.

We booked this hotel through a package and wasn't sure what to expect. I am not one to normally write reviews but felt compelled to on this occasion. Check in staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. We arrived to our room to find it was small but clean. The rooms, you can see, have been redecorated but rushed and not finished as they should be. We dumped the bags and hit the streets without much further inspection. Once we arrived back this is when the trouble began. On the table next to bed were packets of earplugs, we thought that perhaps they had just been left by the last customer. The room was hot and stuffy, we tried to put the aircon on but it sounded like it was about to take off. The radiators make banging noises and as for windows you might as well not have them, it was so noisy you might as well have been sleeping in the streets. We ended up staying one night out of four and checked in to the Crowne Plaza on Times Square which was infinitely better.

The staff are friendly and helpful, however I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights.

After a few problems we were moved to another room which was much better.

The rooms are very small, my husband and I are only little but it felt claustrophobic, no room for 2 cases.

Jesus, on reception was very helpful but he was the only one and the only one that smiled.

The radiator made noise while it wasn't even on, it is very noisy and it just hasn't been finished correctly. Little odd jobs to try to cover up work, also needs a real good hoover.

It could be a great hotel and is in a fantastic location but I wouldn't recommend.

This hotel room was adequate. An ok place to sleep is the best comment I could offer. They say that the hotel has been renovated but it appears that the renovation consisted of slapping some paint over the beat up doors and putting wallpaper up. When we walked into our room, the radiator was on full blast, as well as the air conditioner. The radiator is a safety hazard as it was extremely hot - enough to cause a serious burn. When we turned off the radiator, the temperature in the room finally fell to less than 80 degrees. Then we heard the water running in the bathroom. The water continuously ran the entire time we were there. The tub wasn’t part of the “renovation” apparently. It was rusty and you couldn’t turn the water off! The carpet was threadbare and it looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a very long time. The hot water in the shower was also dangerously hot. You could hear the street noise very clearly because there was a flimsy piece of plastic around the air conditioner so noise came right through it. The windows have cheap WalMart blinds on them and no drapes so there was no way to block light coming in the room. The one upside to this hotel was the location. Would not recommend staying here.

I arrived at this hotel together with my sister. We have booked this hotel via a third party and booked a standard room for two people.

When checking in at the reception we asked about the room. Immediately they told us that the room we had booked was the cheapest room they offered. The lady behind the reception told us it had a single bed and it was a very small room. of course we thought about an upgrade but wanted to see the room first. The lady showed us the room.. and it was a room for just one person in my opinion! (you can see the pictures attached).

We chose for an upgrade and had to pay $103.28 extra!!

The receptionists told us not to book via a third party again, because this is what they do. They book the cheapest room for you. I thought the receptionists were very helpful and polite.

The day after I contacted our travel agency and explained all this. They contacted the hotel and they spoke to Gaby. Gaby told the travel agency it was a room for two people, but then again - see the attached pictures.

I decided to have a look at the website of this hotel and just wanted to check what kind of rooms they were offering. I found the room we supposedly had and the room the receptionist showed us. To my surprise it says on the site: "MAXIMUM 1 GUEST"

I figured out we just got scammed by the hotel receptionists.

I confronted Gaby the next day. And she was very helpful the day before while giving us information about the busses. Nonetheless her attitude was awful while asking her about the rooms!!

She was telling us that the room they showed us was NOT the room we would have got. But then again: Why would you even show us that room??!! Gaby told us it was us who wanted an upgrade. But really Gaby? after showing us that room?!!

About the room we paid extra for.. there were a lot of things underneath the bed! The bathroom was old and dirty. No city view..

I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone!!

They are scammers.

I traveled with a toddler but I shared the bed with her. I am not sure about the crib, the room is small, it might not fit. But probably best to call the hotel. They are very accommodating. They are very responsive too, you can try by email if not able to call.

I haven't heard of anybody not paying. When I booked, the fee was included in my quote which I thought was reasonable. Keep in mind, this is NYC. Everything is going to be more expensive.
