Perfect location and luxury atmosphere no matter for room and common area of hotel. When I checked in, manager in front desk, Dana, took care of me and talked me about hotel facilities in detail and patient. I would say this hotel is true luxury hotel because I cannot pick any part that is not satisfied. Room decoration is very “Edition” and clean. Definitely would stay here next time
I felt compelled to write a review. First of all, the hotel is spotless. The rooms are so clean and always smell like they are clean and fresh. We did pay for a balcony and I was disappointed with that. The chairs were wire and uncomfortable and the table was not one that you could have used to have a snack or breakfast. Also, it was the one place in the room that was dirty. It started out with cigarette butts and ended with them still there. :( The room service waitstaff were delightful, kind and willing to please. The hotel desk employees were very nice and always said hello and ask if there was anything they could do. Joey and (didn't catch a name) who are always at the door for cabs or limos, are sooo helpful and run like crazy to please each person who needs help. The bartender on the 10th floor was very blah and could really use a little pep in his step..Now, my all time favorite guy was SCOTT! He went above and beyond, remembered names and truly, I felt like he could have been one of my kids.Just a wonderful representative for The Edition. Now, all that being said, I don't think I would stay here again..certainly not the fault of the hotel..But, I hated the location. Loud, crowded and dirty. When I go back to NY, it will be in a quite place where walking around doesn't mean taking your life in your hands..I will go back and say hi to the exceptional people at The Edition. :)…
My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at the New York EDITION!! Dana V. (Front Desk Manager) went above and beyond to ensure a fabulous experience for our 30th Wedding Anniversary ! Every staff member I encountered, from the greeter to the check- in team to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! The rooms were impeccably clean, very comfortable, and the Clocktower (in-house restaurant) was simply amazing. I highly recommend the New York EDITION on Madison Ave. for anyone visiting NYC! Being a Lifetime Marriott Titanium, I have stayed at hundreds of hotels and the New York EDITION is on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Thank you so much Dana and team!!
Disappointing experience for the cost, not a good value for the money - will not return. Had much higher expectations than what was actually delivered. Felt like they are missing leadership who knows how to deliver on the luxury-boutique experience. The main lobby and bar could use a spruce up, walls/furniture were well worn. Many basics were missed and nothing in the room screamed 'luxury'. Marriot is capable of luxury, just not at this property. The good parts about this property... - Staff - Location - View - Quiet hallways - Could not hear neighbors - Large bathroom - Bose bluetooth speaker in room - General design - feels open due to high ceilings, building has interesting history and some original bits were kept The letdowns that led to not feeling truly feel 'luxury boutique'... - Safe didn't work, had to get security up to fix - Room service didn't bring coffee cups with order of coffee - had to call, then remind each day - Pillows, flat as a pancake, had to ask twice for additional ones -Mattress on weird frame that makes noise when you turn over in bed - No blackout shades, bright mornings - Towels felt same as from their Courtyard properties, basic, not luxury -Supplied glassware in room not replaced, they took used ones, had to call twice to get new ones - Turndown service inconsistent in pulling down additional solar shades to help block morning sun - Too few hooks in massive bathroom (3), towels can't dry overnight on a minimalist hook -Slippery floor in shower - No door on shower, allows water to splash onto main bathroom floor making it slippery too -Massive floor lamp in room arcs over couch making room feel less airy than it could and was awkward to work around - Main closet has freestanding small dresser that didn't allow small suitcase to fit on stand unless moved, then it blocked closet door from closing, too much fiddling to make things work - Main closet had led light strip had come detached, had to ask Engineering to fix - Extra closet in room had 10 foot ceiling, but no rod to hang clothes or any shelves - Noise level from construction to east starting at 6:30AM each weekday, short airhorn blasts are just a sign you're in a big city?! - Main floor Bar/lounge space felt overly worn, marked up walls, heavily used chairs/couches/pillows/throws - Bartender (friendly) constantly touching hair, not washing hands, then the condiments going into drinks, even observed them picking something out from coupe glass, then proceed to pour drink into it & serve to guest…
We have stayed at Edition more than 20 times and several times since they opened post-covid It is wonderful to know that the service is still as wonderful as ever, always striving to make you feel at home. Especially special thanks to Will Rentschler, who personally ensured I had an unforgettable birthday celebration. I highly recommend this hotel. The rooms are amazing, the views are breathtaking, and the location could not be better. I will definitely stay here again, and there is no better place to stay in NYC.
Overall a very good stay in an excellent location in a midtown hotel. Some minor things which detracted from a 5 star review. Check in and welcome we’re excellent - particularly Swayla and Rosalie. We arrived very early and were allowed to use the spa facilities to freshen up before our room was available. The hotel kindly accommodated a room upgrade and made sure we had a high floor with a view over Madison Park and the city. Room was very good and housekeeping team did an excellent job throughout the week. Some small points which were frustrating but were resolved very quickly - issue with cold food at breakfast (a la carte) but item was replaced and removed from the bill in any case. On checkout there were a couple of errors in room charges but again, very quickly and politely resolved by the front desk team. Staff were very good overall although. Would recommend staying but some small details which could be improved.…
My husband and I had the privilege of staying at The Edition. Our stay was from March 26-31. I am a titanium Marriott member and have had the opportunity to stay at many fine properties. The Edition was one of THE TOP hotels I have experienced in the Marriott family. Our stay included celebrating my husbands birthday and also a surgery for myself at Mount Sinai. The staff could not have been more accommodating to us for both events. Upon arrival we were welcomed with champagne to celebrate my husbands birthday. The staff at check in, Queenie was so accommodating. I also want to give a huge shout out to Arturo. All of the bellman were great but he took extra special care and attention to us especially after my surgery and during recovery. I was sent tea, a fruit plate and sparkling water. Every time we’d enter the building the Arturo would start hailing our elevator knowing the floor we were staying on. The bartenders, bar staff setting up coffee in the morning, and housekeeping staff were 5 stars plus! We even had a glitch with our safe and engineering was in our room within minutes fixing it with new batteries. The room was over the top with stunning views of the Empire State Building. The location is classy and convenient with subway stations just a stones throw away. We are heading back to NY in September and no question we will once again stay with the exquisite staff of The Edition. Who says New Yorkers are not friendly? Best service in any state I’ve had in a very long time. Congratulations Edition for not missing any details and making a difficult trip so memorable!!!…
Very good Hotel. I was on the 24th floor and in i guess what they call a deluxe room… Couldn’t hear anything outside which is awesome for being in the middle of New York City. I was in 2407 and also couldn’t even hear anything inside my room from above/ below or from the hallways / opening and shutting doors etc. and for me that is a huge plus because I am noise sensitive. Great AC. Good gym. And that unmistakable “Edition” vibe which is just a really cool thing. The staff here are not quite at the same crazy awesome level as the time Square edition but so be it- the hotel is clean, comfortable, and you just can’t go wrong here. Front desk reception however was super friendly and I don’t care if they’re nice mean or indifferent when I have a clean comfortable room with zero noise :-)…
This was my second stay at the NY Edition and I approached it not expecting much during these crazy Covid times. Much to my delight I found the NY Edition in superb form and even better overall than my pre-Covid stay. The hotel has a superb location, a subway is situated a block away and it is perfectly located for those who like to walk to many desirable parts of the city. The rooms are lovely, large, comfortable and quiet. You feel well looked after and that nothing is too much to ask of the NY Edition staff. The gym is a treat and the Lobby Bar is perfect for a pre-show drink, and if there is a more charming bartender in NYC I have yet to meet them. My only request would be to bring back turndown service and 24 hour room service. Apart from that this was a stellar stay and I can’t wait to return to the NY Edition.…
A five star hotel in NYC? Keep looking, this is not the one. - Bedding: No sheets? Just 1 thin blanket? 2 flat pillows that barely combine to make 1. Between the lack of bedding and inability to keep the room temp above 70 we had to request additional blankets. Every twist in turn in the bed caused loud squeaks like sleeping on a dorm room cot. - Room: The lamps over the bed do not stay in place and swing open into the small walkway between bed and table, making it hard to maneuver in such a small “deluxe” room. Even after closing 3 sets of window coverings, it’s not possible to make the room dark (a top review complaint I was hopeful was inaccurate). Along with the malfunctioning AC/Heat, the strobe light fire alarm constantly flashes all night long. - Construction: I understand that it’s NYC, but when construction is happening on an attached building that should be mentioned at booking, just as renovations in progress are mentioned.…
