Was booked here as a part of an Amtrak vacation. Walked right by the hotel because it is set back from the street. Had to ask a police officer where it was. Surprisingly the front courtyard felt unsafe and filthy because of the people loitering and using drugs. Even with the very heavy police presence (which should have been a clue) it wasn’t desirable for a nice NYC vacation. We ended up not spending the two nights that Amtrak already booked for us. Wasn’t worth being uncomfortable in our dirty room with holes in the curtain, hair on the carpeted floor, smell of urine and possibly stale smoke. The window was left wide open probably to air out the bad odors. We booked at another hotel, took our bags and checked out. Upon checking out the front desk staff asked why we were leaving stating, “This is New York! This is how the city is!” Really? Not how we want to spend our money or time. We found a way better place in a safer neighborhood. Not sure if is true but heard there were a few methadone clinics around there and that the hotel was used to house the homeless for a while. Amtrak will be hearing from us about this hotel booking.

We anticipated parking our high top van to be a nightmare in Manhattan which is why we called and spoke with a representative of Holiday Inn to confirm if they could accommodate our van. She placed us on hold, called the hotel then ensured us they could fit our 9’5” tall van AND it was included in our room rate. Upon arrival we were informed the parking was not included in our rate, we then discovered they couldn’t even fit our van. We spent two hours attempting to find parking for our van before giving up and cancelling our stay in New York all together. Considering we discontinued organising parking for our van because we were told we’d have no problem we were incredibly frustrated and sad to waste a whole evening and have it impact our whole stay in New York. I rarely ever leave reviews but this ruined our entire New York stay. The lady handling our situation at the reception desk was very helpful and co-operative cancelling our booking but at the end of the day it still ruined our New York stay. Very disappointed.

Thank You Sierrapb, for your stay with us. We do apologize you was communicated with false information. We did do further investigation to learn that you spoke with reservation department. Reservation department is not on premises and does not have information about our parking relations. No hotels in New York City have parking included with the rate as the parking garage is not the hotels, it is just a separate company which we are affiliated with. Also the parking has their own rules as to what kind of vehicles they accept in their premises. We hope to have you again with us in a nearby future. Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us. We use feedback, such as yours, to continuously make changes to our brand to improve the guest experience. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

What we liked: We loved the amazing view from our room in the 34th floor. I highly recommend booking a room with a view in this hotel. The additional $20 was worth it! The room was very clean. The bathroom had lots of space. Location was walking distance to the subway and Times Square. Staffs were great. What we did not like: Elevator was so slow. Room was small (may not fit more than 2 people with big luggages). I just wished they have additional bars or hooks to hang towels and leave extra soaps and shampoos (they only gave us 1 soap bar). No everyday housekeeping but you can request for cleaning or new towels and soaps. The front of the hotel is a public seating area where it could get crowded.

Literally... a crack house/ drug dealings / loitering/ trash / aggressive drug users outside of the lobby. There’s a guard ah all times and you are required to have a key to enter the building but you still feel very unsafe just walking up to the lobby. The whole entrance smells like urine. Great location ruined by heavy drug ridden atmosphere. Rooms are clean, but tiny. Would not recommend.

Unpleasant! Dirty place in all sense! There were people using drugs right at the door of the Hotel, all the time (didn’t make me felt safe at all). The lobby floor was dirty as well the elevator. The hallway to my room had this strong smell of Marijuana and tobacco all time. My room was dirty! Bed was done well, but the bathroom was dirty and there were hair all over, on the floor, on the sink, inside the litter tray where they place the shampoo and body cream. Not recommended! Not coming back! I regret.
