First, the location is awesome! I and my wife spent 6 nights. Overall the hotel is incredible, with good staff, a nice room with good space, a perfect bed and shower, and excellent cleaning and care, the amenities really have good quality, so, the experience was perfect!
Recently, my husband and I spent a long weekend in NYC. We had the VERY good fortune to stay at the Knickerbocker. It is now the only place I want to stay in Manhattan. The hotel is elegant and understated. The staff clearly understands how to make clients feel that they are the most important part of their business. A special mention to Lucy, who remembered talking with me prior to our arrival and to Joseph who was so friendly and attentive. Just two members of the staff that made me feel more than special.
My friends were visiting from London and had never been to the US. So, I decided to take them to NYC to show them the best of the Country. I chose the Knickerbocker for its reviews and also, the location had seemed useful, and it had come recommended by my boyfriend. We arrived to the hotel via the Acela at about 4:45pm and had rented a junior suite as there were three of us and I wanted it to be as luxe as possible. Our room wasn't ready. We had just fought our way through the hottest, loudest, overwhelming Times Square crowds, with a lot of luggage and were sweaty and very casually dressed. Not to speak of my friends' jet lag. The check-in agent offered ZERO apology. Just a "Yeah, room's not ready yet. We'll give you these drinks coupons for the roof deck while you wait. Giving us two coupons each. Keep in mind that we all needed showers and to freshen up before being public facing and this rooftop bar was filled with smartly dressed millennial Euro types. We were entirely underdressed and self conscious. We walked out onto the roof deck and a man blew a full exhale of cigar smoke right into my face. The smoking section is placed immediately at the entrance to the bar. We lumbered around awkwardly to the non-smoking section which was basked in hot sun, and found seats. We tried to order the champagne that we would have ordered if paying for our drinks and were immediately told that we could only buy drinks priced to $20. So, basically, drinks we didn't want were comped to us by the non-fussed front desk agent. We got in another argument with the waitress who was completely unapologetic and finally went and got approval for us to get what we wanted. (Even when I had offered to pay the difference in price, we weren't allowed to do that! So, the "comped drinks" did nothing to assuage our anger, but only made us more angry.) We finally got into our room at about 6pm. This is a day we paid about $1k for, and we were only allowed access at 6pm. The room had a view of a warehouse 10' from our windows and garbage dumpsters at ground zero. It was equipped with 2 coffee cups. 2 of each size towels and one set of soaps and shampoos. In a Suite. Our whole stay was a disaster. They later comped us breakfast for both mornings, which was the only saving grace. However, even that wasn't entirely useful, as it precluded me from showing my friends a diner I had planned to take them to. I slept on the pull out sofa and it was straight out of 1972. Painful. …
Me and my friends were very welcome by Paola from the reception. Everyday, she was ready to help us in ALL situations. Wonderful experience Thanks her and her kindness with us brazilians. I strongly recomend The hotel because of first The staff, and Then because of The rooftop and The localization .
The staff provided exceptional service. They went out of their way to help me throughout my stay. Paola, Ariellee, and Brandon were attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. They went 'above and beyond' to make sure my stay was comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and the location is excellent.
So not sure what I was expecting but 5 stars doesn’t really cut it at The Knickerbocker. The building from the outside looks amazing but inside there was little that could be considered charming or of value. There was definitely a lack of staff but truly it was the management of staff as well as the set up that were of fault here. The 2 points I gave was in consideration for us being out of Covid as otherwise the score and the number of days I would have stayed would have been less. Specifically simple things like having straws for drinks in the bar, being able to accommodate a requirement for cups / glasses for the room without asking 4 times and then being told that guest services were extremely busy. We initially asked for the cups at 2pm and then again at 5pm etc.. finally arriving after 9pm. Loved NYC as always and it’s reinvention every time we come. But won’t be staying at this hotel again. There are better hotels and easier ways to enjoy your break. So, so long The Knickerbocker but see you soon NYC.…
The Rooms was too small, the limited counter space made it difficult to House the Coffee Machine and Microwave. The Staff was wonderful and responsive to all request. The Shower leaked water on the outside causing a pool of water (I used towels to dry). The location was the selling point, close to shopping, dining, and public transportation. Will Stay again, but in a larger room with a view.
This hotel is in a great location for those wanting to be near all the action without the noise and chaos of being in the middle of Times Square. The rooms are nice but we were a bit underwhelmed by the lack of amenities to what we were expecting for the price. We also only had 1 towel so had to call to request another. The staff are polite but the relationship between reception and the bellmen is a bit disconnected - with only one person helping with bags it took us a while to pick ours up because the reception staff couldn't help while he was busy. Overall I'd still stay here again because it's clean, convenient and comfy. There is a bit of noise but definitely nothing as bad as if you were right in the heart of Times Square. I also missed out on the rooftop bar this time which was a shame and can't wait to see next time.…
Came for roof top fun for our 60th birthdays in New York!! Johir is the best server ever!!! We saw the ball and enjoyed drinks on the roof top. Food was delicious we will come back next time for sure!!
Spacious and modern rooms, noise-proof windows, good service, very gentle, friendly and effective staff, excellent front desk service, 24 hours fitness room. Not comparable with any other choices in Times Square area.
