Great for walkers

For us, Lower Manhattan was the best choice of location. We were on the 40th floor in room 4001, having views across the Hudson to New Jersey City as well as a window framing the One World Tower and 9/11 Memorial. We did not experience significant delays waiting for the lift/ elevator as some have reported. Sometimes ‘going up to go down’ was the way to go. Never experienced waits for breakfast which set us up for the day. Had evening meals there on some evenings - the orange chicken was amazing. There is a great pizza place next door and often took slices to the room (as did many guests judging by people carrying pizza boxes)! We chose to travel by Uber (about $40 to Central Park; $35 to Midtown locations; $80 back from a Broadway show at a busy time and $85 to JFK using an Uber comfort). Plenty of subway stations nearby for those on a budget. If you want a special meal, Morton’s the steakhouse is 100 yards up Washington Street (budget $250 for 2 including wine and 20% tip - the service was outstanding!) Also a Starbucks nearby if you want a lactose free coffee. Two good shopping malls nearby including the Oculus. Service at the hotel was superb - promptly delivered extra coffee, fresh towels or emptied bins on request. Room serviced every other day. A quieter location but felt absolutely safe at all times of day or night. Would be more than happy to recommend without reservation. We’ll be back!!

Standard hotel in the Financial District. very expensive for being so basic, extremely small room for a family of 4, there was no closet to store clothes (everything stayed in the suitcases) and very slow and messy restaurant in the mornings. The lobby staff was very friendly and the room was cleaned very well. Average location, tourist area is in Upper Manhattan but that was a mistake of our choice. In conclusion, it complies in a basic way.

Stayed in April and would definitely stay again. Very clean hotel with friendly staff. Slow elevators though. Room was a little small but on par for other NYC hotels at this price point but the bathroom sink was laughably small. The connected restaurant is very...well lets just say there's a great variety. It is St. George's tavern that looks like a pub but has mostly Asian dishes but you can also get quesadillas, guacamole and other things. I had wings and a caesar salad and both were good. They did not have coffee service (I dont like using in room coffee makers - I prefer something fresher) which was aggravating but there is a DD across the street. Great pizza place next door as well. Just know if you are going to spend a large portion of your trip in midtown (times square) or uptown, be prepared for subway rides to be ~20 to 40 minutes.

This Hotel is disgusting and not worth a penny. I will give minus one star if I could. We arrived around 7pm and noticed the heat was not working properly, the thermostat on the wall was not connected to the unit. The unit was running non-stop so you had to manually turn it off when the room was overheating and turn it back on when the room was cold again. We talked to the front desk person on our way out that night and were told someone will go to our room to fix it. We came back past 1:00 am and nothing was fixed. We called the front desk and a very rude person told me she can’t do anything and they will address it in the morning and when I refused her answer, she disconnected the call. There was nothing we could do so I tried to call again to ask for extra blankets, but no one answered the phone. I called three or four times more and nothing. I called from my phone directly to the hotel and my call was answered by the person at the front desk, her name was Cici or Sisi, not sure how to spell it. I requested extra blankets and they sent only one and it was ripped, see the pictures. We then tried to rest for the night, but of course it wasn’t really pleasant. In the morning I came downstairs for coffee, it was around 9:30 but I was told coffee ends at 9:00 AM. I then complained about our issue to the front desk agent and his answer was “that’s how the heat works, you need to adjust it manually” seriously? Do you want me to get up every hour during the night to turn on or off the heat and be able to sleep? That was the most ridiculous answer I could have gotten. I asked to speak with the manager, her name Kristine or Christine, she was rude and not apologetic at all. I was requesting some refund, credit or something, I was not going to pay almost $500 a night for a room with so many problems, the outlet in the bathroom was not working and coming out of the wall, the mirror lighting was not working, mold stains on the wall, the ice machine in the hotel was broken( I guess they only have one) and I could keep going and going. The manager's solution was to void the $25 “Resort” Fee and told me she couldn’t give me any credit because we booked through Hotels.com and we didn’t pay to the hotel directly, and I should call Hotel.com. I did and Hotel.com offered some refund but suggested talking to the manager to get my full refund. We went back to the front desk, the manager now offered to move us to a new room and we declined the offer. Why didn’t they give me that room in the first place? Why didn’t they switch rooms the night before when I first complained? The manager was so rude, she didn’t even let my husband talk, she was very arrogant and unprofessional and then she finally said she will give us a full refund but we have to call Hotels.com and we will have to leave. I guess she never thought we would accept the offer, her face melted when we said “Perfect”, and that's what we did. We called Hotels.com and they contacted the hotel to confirm the manager's decision, so we packed and left the hotel. This Hotel is disgusting, horrible, don’t stay here

The front desk was very incredibly friendly and welcoming when we first arrived. I also want to pay a special mention to the housekeeping crew at this hotel because they are all sincere and helpful. Only when I returned to Texas did I discover that I had forgotten my glasses. My spectacles were taken care of by the hotel's housekeeping staff, and all I had to do was send them a return shipping label once I called the hotel. I appreciate this workplace's staff members' sincerity and helpfulness. Approximately 45 stories make up the hotel, which is the tallest Holiday Inn in the world. During rush hour, the elevator is a bit slow, but normally it works perfectly. A good view of the Hudson River and Jersey City across the river is available if you book specific accommodations.

Had a great stay at the holiday inn - with just a couple of issues , and yes one is the lifts ! But do not let this put you off . The hotel is well located approximately 5 min walk from the world trade centre ,10 min to the battery and convenient to the rector street subway station . There are lots of places to eat nearby and a 24 hour deli almost next door . The hotel has 50 floors and my advice would be to go as high as possible as you have more chance of getting into an empty or near to empty lift . We were on the 43rd floor and very rarely had an issue , although you do sometimes have a wait for one going up . The room was a good size , very clean with lovely views of the city - and in my brothers case over towards the river . The bathroom was small but had a great walk in shower and dove products. There was a coffee machine in the room and a large tv - the only addition that would be good would be a fridge . There is luggage storage available In reception. There is an attached restaurant and we have a very nice Chinese meal there and also the buffet breakfast which was good value for money . For the most the staff were great although there were a couple of issues. My brother had a problem with his toilet which he reported on going out for the day and was told would be sorted while we were out . On our return that evening it had not and when we went to reception the guy we spoke to actually laughed at us !! He then tried to say ‘oh it’s because I’m new ‘ ?! We spoke to someone else and they quickly and professionally organised the repair to be done . Our other issue is that with the lifts being so busy and in demand it was annoying to often have to share them with staff taking the lift to the 2nd floor ! However this is a great hotel and would definitely stay again

The positives: Check-in was easy, quick and efficient. Staff is helpful. The room was not as small as I expected and a decent size for 2 people and clean with cable TV, WiFi.
There's a coffee room/machine hidden away on the first floor, you can pay by credit card as well as a vending machine that sells personal items including phone charges (didn't see prices on the items though) Air conditioner worked great.
There is a Starbucks up the street, a restaurant next door, laundry room on the 3rd floor and a gym (which I did not visit) . They clean the rooms every other day and will provide towels as needed.
The neighborhood is Downtown/Wall Street area, hotel is a little hidden away which I think is good and is in a decent location. Near Brookfield Mall, Oculus, the Bull, NY Stock Exchange, Museum of the Native American Indian, NYC Ferry on Pier 11, South Street Seaport, Battery Park, Trinity Church. A lot of history down here.
Cons: Hotel is 50 stories so there is wait time for elevators. I was able to walk up to my room and appreciated not having to take the elevators which I avoid in general at any hotel but worth noting. I did see large groups waiting for the elevator. The staircase always has people going up and down and is heavily used because of this.
There's no mini-bar or refrigerator in the room so while you can make coffee there's ever an option to keep milk in the refrigerator. You can rent one I believe but not sure who really wants to do that. One amenity I think is unfortunate that they do not have (at least my room did not). The rug needs a really really deep clean OR a complete replacement. Wear slippers. Bathroom sink is TINY.
I purchased the room on Priceline and got an excellent deal and for what I paid and the location it was perfect. I would stay here again based on price, location and cleanliness of the room. I'm not a tourist but if I were in terms of location this has a lot to see I would consider it again. Nothing is perfect, you'll see various reviews from people that either loved it or hated it. it's all about your personal experience which no one can guess until you get here and your expectations.

Nice hotel, close from the subway station and the closes one is only 1 block from the hotel. You really need the subway and I suggest getting a 7 days metro pass because it worth all the money even though you only stay for 3 days in NYC. The only things that bother us is the elevator take too long too wait. Other than that 5 stars
