The title sums it up. I stayed here for work, and there were no towels. Hotel staff smoking weed in the stairs, talking about patrons (si, hablo español y puedo entenderte) and a general lack of caring characterize this place. I'm a Spire Elite member at IHG, and this was beyond the pale. This stay is directly one of the reasons that I'm dropping them as a brand in favor of Marriott/Hyatt/Hilton post-pandemic.

Property is in disrepair, room was not cleaned during entire stay, numerous safety problems, garbage piled in front of hotel. staff appears overwhelmed and burned out, rooms are very small, restaurante is not worth your time. It seems as if this property is using COVID as an excuse not to provide any standard services.

First, just let me say that the hotel itself was fine and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our plane was delayed and they offered immediately to give us a late checkout - we didn't have to ask. However, having said that it can't make up for the current situation. We were traveling with our daughter and grandkids (my sister's family including her granddaughter were also in the same hotel). People were allowed to stand right beside the front door and smoke pot. I don't mean somewhere close by, I mean literrally to the left of the door (if you were walking in). One couple stood out there smoking one after the other. So it reeked of pot. Inside you could smell it, in the lobby, in the elevator, and in the halls. I don't mean you'd get a whiff of it, I mean a strong smell. Even when they opened the bar/restaurant door, the smell just poured out of it. My understanding is NY passed a law that says you can smoke pot anywhere that you can legally smoke a cigarette. You can't smoke cigarettes inside the hotel and I am pretty certain you should not smoke them right beside doorways. There didn't seem to be any attempts to stop it, as I said, the one couple stood out there smoking for hours and were right back the next morning. It seems like a new problem all over NYC, as the smell was everywhere. We also stayed at another Holiday Inn in NYC (Times Square). They had security there and there was no one standing at the door smoking pot, nor did the place reek of pot. For this reason, I would strongly recommend not staying here with kids and not staying here if you don't want to smell it constantly. We have emailed the management twice through IHG and get no reply or explanation of how this is ok, so I assume it will continue. Oh, you also have to ask for a coffee pot and coffee for your room. They have removed them and don't mention it to you. There is no coffee in the lobby, either.

There is no one to help you when sending emails, there is no response, which is unacceptable. I needed them to answer some questions before arriving and they never replied. I definitely would not recommend this place to any interested.

We are locals who had to stay here while there was an issue with our apartment. Price was good and it was nearby and the reviews looked positive. The good thing about this hotel is that it is located in a good neighborhood - close enough to places where tourists might want to go but not in the middle of Times Square. It's clean (other than dusty in some places), the guy at the door was nice, and it's cheap for NYC standards. The bed was really comfortable and the AC worked well and wasn't too loud. For the bad - it's really beat up... stains, dings, dents, holes in the sheets, knobs loose - the wear and tear of a city hotel that hasn't been able to keep up. The room, and the bathroom, are really small (but it's a city hotel...so it's expected). We had no soap, shampoo, toilet paper, or hair dryer and the remote was broken on the TV (volume only - could not change channels). There was a Keurig coffee maker but no coffee or supplies (it wasnt plugged in anyway) We went down and got soap and toilet paper, and a hair dryer - but decided not to bother with TV anyway. Internet was strong enough to stream a show on my laptop. Found out the hair dryer was broken the next morning so I went to work a little more unkempt than I planned. The lobby is really beat up and no place to really hang out. I imagine if you are a budget traveler/business who will spend no time in the hotel except to sleep than this is a good choice. If you want to impress someone or have a romantic stay (or need a break from renovations/boiler breakdowns/fire/floods/quarantine) - you might want a little nicer place.
