We booked City Rooms NYC in Chelsea last minute, for one night during a layover that we had. I would describe it as an upscale hostel. We stayed in the bunkbed room and it was smaller then we had thought but managed to fit a closet and a fridge. The toilet and showers are located in separate rooms on the...

We stayed with City Rooms Soho back in July 2016 and our stay couldn't have been more pleasant. The weather was humid and hot outside but the room was very well air-conditioned so we slept well and felt comfortable. They provide good-quality earplugs against road traffic which is a nice touch and certainly helped as well. They provide free coffee...

The hotels rooms are small but clean, bed is comfy, you have sink in the room and share bathroom and toilet (2 on each floor). They were always available. Hotel stuff is helpful. You can get tea/coffee/water in the reception area. The area of the hotel is quite central, close to Penn station, easy access to JFK and main attractions,...

Great if you know you won't be in the room too much because there aren't TVs in rooms and they are on the small side. I arrived just after thanksgiving and was pleased with my choice of accommodation - the showers were dry when I went in, the bathroom was clean with plenty of clean hand towels, room was ready...

We stayed at the City Rooms for 1 night whilst arriving from a late night flying into JFK. The hotel is clean, comfortable and furnished to a modern standard. The location is excellent for arriving from JFK as once you get off of the Long Island Rail Road at Penn station its literally a 10 minute (4 block) walk, we...

I know that this hotel tends to receive great reviews. But I believe they are a bit overrated. I booked through hotels.com for two nights, only to realize--after making the booking--that hotels.com lists the price per night as opposed to showing the total price as you'd expect on other similar web-based portals such as booking.com. So I ended up paying...

Even if the room was small, the room is perfect and it meets all the needs one traveler has! Perfect cleaning, good staff and amazing location near Penn Station and Subway lines, in the center of everything! I will stay again! The only negative, is the stairs but it's ok, you are in NYC!

Booked here for a Saturday night before a race in Central Park. Hesitated at check-in when i found out that "private" toilet and bath meant shared, but bedrooms were newly renovated and super clean. Great value and would consider coming back when New York hotel prices are at their peak again. Much more comfortable and cleaner than several expensive hotels...

Greeted on a wet night in New York by Anne who helped carry one of my heavy bags upstairs. Be warned there isn't a lift. Checkin was quick and Anne showed me to my room. There are two showers and a toilet on each floor, during my two night stay I had no problems accessing them as needed. As previous...

I enjoy staying here on a regular basis. Extremely reasonably priced for a busy expensive part of Manhattan ( not far from Penn station,Megabus stop) but clean & comfortable.Because it is a tiny hostel, maybe 12 rooms? it is carefully watched over by friendly helpful staff.2-3 rooms share a common toilet and separate shower room. Each room has a frig,...

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
