Interesting juxtaposition between a very nice property/amenities with lukewarm reception and service. Our room was very nice, bathroom tiny but expected in NYC, Hotel lobby lovely. Hotel has their own parking. Great location. But between check in and just general conversations (asking directions for example, or ordering a drink at the bar) it seemed we were either annoying people or boring them. Can probably find a hotel where they are a little happier to see you. But if you don’t care about that this place is good enough.

Great location and friendly staff. Loved the balcony on the room. One elevator was down for service but it didn't slow things down much. It's a smaller hotel and each floor feels comfortable with the floorpan - no long hallways to make you feel processed.

The location of this hotel is good, the lobby is charming, and the pool is a nice touch. However, the service and the rooms are extremely subpar for the price. We arrived to a chaotic lobby full of confused and angry guests and it took them over an hour to check us in. We sat ourselves in the bar and finally after an hour+ we were checked into a very small room overlooking an A/C unit for $700 a night. What a disappointment to say the least. I would forgive the room size if it weren't for the service. Additionally, I have been disputing a charge on my card and have contacted the hotel 3 times with no response. I finally had to contest it through my credit card company. We shall see. Lesson here: it is probably a better bet to stay at a larger hotel with better training and infrastructure to handle customer service.

Stayed here recently. It’s a mess. (1) shower drain was horrendously backed up and they didn’t fix it despite four different messages. (2) supposedly high-tech iPad room service ordering sent us an error message saying “order was canceled “, and then after we left to go find food outside; they claimed they tried to deliver it. (3) the hamam bath and changing rooms are infested with bugs, no idea or help how to use the lockers (4) the wifi didn’t work for an entire evening (5) elevator mysteriously stopped working and finally (6)the entire effort to play up a Turkish theme was so poorly done they may as well forget it and just focus on the core needs of delivering a decent hotel experience. They also had a water pipe burst so we spent one half day without any water in the rooms or hotel and a management that appeared entirely helpless about it. Don’t go.

We appreciate the feedback, Dc_deshi. We regret that your time with us was less than ideal as providing our guests with a pleasant experience is very important to us. It's unfortunate our in-room amenities and the condition of our furnishings as well as our cleanliness, decor, water and elevator system didn't meet your expectations. We hold ourselves to a higher standard so we'll address your concerns with our management team moving forward. We do hope you give us another opportunity to share a more positive experience with you soon.

We stayed here for my birthday. The manager upgraded us to a suite with a balcony for no charge and provided both an early and late check out when I mentioned we were coming for the occasion. The pool and Turkish spa areas were very nice - not crowded and quiet. We went both days of our stay. Staff was very nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay. But two complaints. First, there was little air circulation in the room. Second, I complained several times about the smell of someone smoking cigarettes on our floor. They said they would send security but no one did anything about it. Given that I was pregnant and told them I was so couldn’t have smoking around me, they should have moved us.

The hotel was a great location and had a cool vibe upon entering. The entire staff was Super friendly, especially Mayerly who went above and beyond to help us with a personal situation, and Birken, the bartender made great drinks! We enjoyed our stay and time spent at The Marmara. The lighting is somewhat dim in the room, but that is the only thing that could be better!

My boyfriend and I spent Friday-Monday of Labor Day weekend at the Marmara. The service was absolutely excellent! I emailed the hotel before our stay explaining that my boyfriend and I were spending the weekend in NYC for our anniversary and asked for early check-in and a room with a balcony. Although they were all soles out of balcony rooms our room was extremely spacious and had a nice view out the window, we were definitely very happy with our room. Rachel, who responded to my email on behalf of the hotel, also gifted us a bottle of champagne and charcuterie board which we found in our room once we checked in. Rachel was extremely helpful and did her best to accommodate our request. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we are looking forward to our next stay there!

First things first, the hotel was clean. We were very appreciative of the housekeeping staff. Not only just clean, but one morning we were not quite out the door yet when housekeeping knocked and she was so friendly and agreed to come back in an hour. She also saw there were 4 of us and left us enough towels (we had to request more when we first arrived). We ordered room service a few times and it was good and delivered in a timely manner. The mattresses and linens were very comfortable. The size of the room was an unexpected surprise. However, we wish they had taken some space from the room and given it to the bathroom. The bathroom was so tiny there was hardly room to move. We were thankful for the kitchenette because that was where we brushed our teeth and did our makeup, as there is zero counter space in the bathroom, not even enough to put a tube of toothpaste. The toilet is so low to the floor, my 43 year old body almost needed assistance getting on and off lol. The hotel is in need of some tlc, things are definitely looking dingy. Dinged up furniture, chips in the paint, messy caulk in the bathrooms, etc. I also have some new dings in my shins from the corners of the platform beds - ouch. Our entire floor reeked of marijuana 3 out of the 4 days we were there. It once woke us up at 4am it was so strong. And, as others have noted, the hallways are so dark I needed my phone’s flashlight to find my room keys in my purse. There are several homeless folks set up outside the hotel, mostly men who are there all hours of the day and night, who catcall all the women that walk by, including myself and my 17 year old daughter. Overall, this was fine for a weekend as it was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating, but it is not the five star hotel it claims to be.

Three nights with the tweenagers in NYC for a whistlestop tour of all the old haunts and this slightly quirky, kooky and very shiny place stands out as a reasonable buy. There’s a pool in the basement (a big winner with the kids) and a kitchenette in the larger-than-average and extremely well appointed and clean hotel room. It certainly looks very starry, perhaps even the five of them that it claims. So why the three star review? Beware mutton dressed as lamb my friends. This is a brilliant three star mid-range hotel, but that’s about as far as it goes. Think of it as a really classy top of the range holiday inn and you’re about there. Why? There’s no bar and restaurant, well there is, but it’s basically the hotel lobby with a few tables and pot plants chucked in. It’s certainly not somewhere you’d feel comfortable sitting and having dinner or breakfast. The menu is extremely limited and the wine list at the bar is mostly unavailable, but they do have a large selection of Turkish reds for you to try, which are all awful. The corridors are SO dark (this is a thing now, apparently) that you need a phone torch to find your way. Reception isn’t really that helpful, check-in seemed like an inconvenience to them and there was no question of anyone helping this single dad with two daughters (having jumped straight off an 8 hour plane journey) to the room at midnight - just a wave of ‘there’s the elevator’. The laundry bag left outside of the room for the ‘same day service’ the next day failed to materialise before check-out two days later. When pressing the hotel on the matter they eventually found it in later that afternoon in a cupboard - it had never been sent, so off we went in filthy clothes. Rather than an apology or at very least a nod to the inconvenience, we were met with ‘well, we can’t guarantee a same day service’. That’s not hospitality, that’s rude. The location is fine, it’s certainly quiet and out of the way so you’re not kept awake all night by the horns and sirens. Don’t expect the hotel to help you with directions or local deli/restaurant recommendations, they simply don’t have the info. This hotel is ok. If you get a good deal then it’s worth it for the hotel room which has a sparkly kitchenette in it - a big bonus. Just set your expectation levels to average and you’ll be delighted.

Had to make a quick trip into the city and friends recommended The Marmara Park Avenue. As I honestly has never heard of it I decided to give it a try. Staff was friendly but also very professional. I liked the room, very clean. Bathroom was a little awkward the way it was designed but I don't expect a huge bathroom in the city. I wish I had time to experience other amenities that The Marmara has available but it just gives me something to look forward on my next ( more extended) trip.
