The thing that impressed me the most about this hotel, was that the whole thing was a new build. It's been done so well, with such attention to detail and high level of finish. The location is really great too. I can remember the area being pretty much no go several years ago. The hotel has these really charismatic doormen,...

We really enjoyed staying here for a long weekend in April. The atmosphere is old-world super cool, the service is excellent and the lobby and bar scene is remarkable - plus, as a hotel guest, they will literally ask other people to move over or leave to make room for you. Same goes for the attached always-crowded and excellent Italian...

Staying at The Bowery Hotel was a treat. It was pricey, but I enjoyed my visit immensely and recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. The room was immaculate: clean, bright and welcoming, with lovely views of the East Village. The hotel remains faithful to its period architecture and design, without sacrificing any modern amenities. It was so quiet in the mornings, but...

Midtown Manhattan is for the first time tourist to NYC, who wants to stay near the Big Broadway theaters, Times Square, etc. Great place to stay if you want noise and to see tourists from every where in the world. But if you know NYC, or want to know it, you'll be staying down in SoHo or Lower East Side,...

I selected the Bowery after reading reviews on TripAdvisor on the hotels located in the lower east side. I couldn't have been happier with our choice. It was such a refreshing change from other hotels in New York, which tend to be too modern and contemporary to be practical or comfortable. This hotel is welcoming, cozy, chic and original. The...

I loved mixing it up and staying at The Bowery Hotel for the first time. It definitely has the vibe that you are in a special place. Plus, I like that its not this uber-modern trying-to-be-hip hotel, but rather a dark place with a bohemian chic feel. They even use the old gold tassel keys instead of the cheap plastic...

I returned recently to the Bowery Hotel for a night, this was my second stay there, and it was just as pleasurable as the first time. My queen room was small but well-appointed. In fact, the design is really great - the overall look is very well done, and I love the bathroom's old-school tile, wonderful rain shower, and nice...

We visited friends for a few days and then decided to splurge and spend a weekend at the Bowery. It was worth every penny. We loved the location, the rooms, the hotel details, the cocktails at the bar, the service, and had a really great time. We will never stay anywhere else!!! From Trip Advisor, I knew to request a...

This is my favorite hotel in nyc. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathrooms are nice, not large, but not small by nyc standards. The location can't be beat. There are several great restaurants and shops all around the hotel. The New Museum is less than a five minute walk, and you can easily walk to the shops...

This is a cool hotel. Dark and broody with a terrace for drinks where the young and beautiful hang out showing each other pictures of cool things on iPads. Even better, the hotel will remove these beautiful young things to make way for paying guests which (partially) compensates those of us envious of their youth. We spent a fortune but...

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
