Great hotel, staff is really friendly and really want to help make your stay as good as possible. Got very good rate and the location is just off time square only minutes from the next subway station. Room was large enough and loved the bathroom and shower, really quiet too

We were celebrating our 25th anniversary by going to Wicked, dinner and drinks in NYC. We were looking for a reasonably priced room in a good location. We found in at the Hotel Mela. The room was not large, a little bit bigger than a typical cruise ship room. It was very clean, fairly modern and the staff was very...

The location can't be beat -- right in the heart of Times Square where all the action is. There's a little deli/market a few doors down and a cafe downstairs as well as one across the street along with several restaurants. I booked using hotels.com I think, and there was a problem. I requested two beds in the room, but...

Enjoyed the location for hotel Mela. But for the noise of the air conditioning from the next door building. So would ask for a different room next time. The room was big for a New York City Hotel so pleased with that. We stayed for 4 nights. The Staff were very helpful. The location greats. Would go to this hotel...

First and foremost, as described....square footage, clean and compact, staff was excellent, and the location was awesome but (and I'm told that all hotel rooms are small) the shock of the room size was really overwhelming. Except for the service elevator, the size of the two other elevators were also very compact. This was a trip with my sister and...

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mela. It is in a great location! Jean Paul was excellent in helping our group navigate the city. This was our first time to visit New York. The Hotel was clean and the staff very accommodating. I looked hard for a Hotel before deciding on Hotel Mela and was happy with the choice!...

A group of 4 couples stayed here for a 50th birthday celebration trip. From the minute we walked in, we loved this hotel. The lobby is welcoming and smells great. The front desk staff was efficient and knowledgable, the bellman (Christian) was great and always had a smile and a greeting for us. Most helpful to us was John Paul....

Hotel Mela is extremely well located 1 minute from Times Square. Our room was just as in the photo and was clean, comfortable, safe. Everything worked. Jean Paul was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The staff are very efficient. I would give the hotel and staff 10 out of 10. Don't think twice about staying here, the bad reviews are unfounded...

After a week at another hotel, the Mela was a welcome change! In spite of its location the room was really quiet, with the only noise being the air con (had some problems with the air con, but the hotel sorted that out quickly!). Complimentary coffee machine was nice, but they didn't supply cups after the first day. Clean and...

The Hotel Mela is just off Times Square. It's close to theaters, many restaurants as well as the train and bus stations. Our staff was always pleasant and helpful with suggestions and questions. Our room was comfortable and quite spacious for NYC. Although clean, the carpeting could use an upgrade. The elevators are tiny but the wait was never overly...

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
