We were in town visiting the holiday sights and doing some shopping. We usually visit the city once a month, and this was our first stay at The Radisson Midtown. We opted for this hotel, as we are climbing the ranks of the Radisson Rewards program. We had hoped to hit The Platinum level in 2020, but due to the pandemic, had a significant pause to our travel this year, and remain at the Gold level. Regardless, we wanted to try this hotel due to location. Similar to a prior TripAdvisor post from another guest, we were not permitted to check in any earlier than the 3:00PM posted check in time unless we wanted to pay a $50 fee. Deborah at the front desk would not budge. We asked if early-check in was not a stated benefit, and she said that it was up to the individual hotel. All we wanted to do is check in at 1:30, but Deborah would not permit it. The room was available for a fee, but not for frequent stay guests, as a benefit. As such, we disappointingly had the bellman hold our bags. This single move by Deborah has us wondering if we should scrap Radisson entirely. It’s not as if we received any other elite benefits during our stay. We do like the Radisson Blu’s in Europe, but will likely continue to focus on Hilton in order to achieve their lifetime Diamond status.

As a Radisson Rewards Gold member, I had high expectations for this property. However, that came crashing down as soon as we stepped into the lobby. Realizing that the average occupancy rate for NYC hotels due to COVID is around 10%, we decided to give the Radisson some business, as we usually stay at other hotels in the city. We had phoned reservations at 11 PM on the evening prior to arrival and was told that the hotel was wide open in every room category. However, upon arrival the following day, we were told that the check-in time was 3 PM, but that they could allow us to check-in at 2 PM without incurring a $50 early arrival fee. Anything earlier would incur the fee. I let the front desk associate know that I had achieved Gold status, which should afford me a check-in two hours prior to the published time, but she did not seem to care. In terms of other elite benefits, there was no welcome amenity. There were no bottles of water in our room due to COVID; however, we were told that there are vending machines and a drug store down the street where we could purchase water. Huh? How is that safer? I would have been more content with the desk associate simply telling me that the lack of Gold benefits was a cost-cutting measure. Then there was the lack of a room upgrade of any sort. We booked a standard queen room, and certainly weren't expecting a suite upgrade, but considering that occupancy is low, and they already stripped elite benefits from our stay, it would have been a nice gesture to upgrade us. In terms of the room, yes it was small, but what one pays is generally what one gets, and the size of the room was insignificant. It worked perfectly fine for us. The furnishings were tasteful, but the bathroom was beginning to show some wear and tear. The chair in the room was also stained. Other than that, the hotel is in a fine location--a block off of Fifth Avenue, and across the street from Radio City. Would we stay there again? Of course, not. There is no reason to do so, given that they don't recognize Radisson Elite status. It's amazing that they didn't try a bit harder knowing how poorly the hotel industry is doing--especially in NYC. We are in the city every couple of weeks, but will certainly revert back to our other regular hotels, which haven't cut services under the guise of COVID.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for a couples getaway. Great location and great price. Not sure if this hotel and location is new or if they just renovated. Our room was kinda tiny but everything was brand new and clean with a brand new bathroom and well appointed with a small Fridge. The views were just okay but the place is super clean and the room was quiet. The rooms are extremely small but cozy for couples without big suitcases. It was ok for us. I would stay again.

My overall experience was good. I only had an issue with security banging on the door and waking me up before my checkout time. The room was small and everything was clean. The bed was comfortable and linens snow white. The shower had a hose which is a plus but, the water was slow draining.(Something easily remedied)
