This place was amazing. Not only did the staff welcome us, thank you Addie, she also remembered a phone call I made asking about a Balcony view and upgraded us prior to our arrival. We found the room to be large and accommodating, clean, and affordable. We had tickets to a show and could not wait to get back downtown...

Our stay at the Blue Moon Hotel was just lovely. It's situated on the Lower East side in a great neighborhood which is worth exploring on its own merits. The Tenement Museum is across the street and there are so many wonderful nooks and crannies within blocks (Casa Mazcal, Vanessa's Dumplings, Russ and Daughters Jewish deli, and more). The staff...

I can't speak as to the quality of the hotel itself, but the staff was unhelpful. My fiance and I were hoping to relax and get some work done while waiting to travel elsewhere. I booked through Dayuse.com last week; our room was reserved starting at 9:00 a.m. We ran late because of subway issues (many lines were experiencing re-routes,...

I was excited to stay at this hotel as it was an artsy hotel. I was told to park at 59 Allen street and that parking would be $38. When I arrived I found out there was no relationship with the hotel and that it was $50 for an SUV. We walked our luggage to the hotel to keep them...

This hotel really is a hidden gem. Absolutely charming with a real feel of authenticity. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean and full of character. It's just across the road from the Tenement Museum, a short walk from Chinatown and Little Italy and just round the corner from the Essex St./Delancy St. subway -...

Recently decided to "follow in my parents' footsteps" from their 1950's honeymoon in NYC. I found their Visitor's Guide and also love looking at their treasures from the past, so much so that I became a vendor in a local antique shop to "preserve their treasures and give them a new life" now that they are gone. I knew that...

A retro hotel on lower East side. Somewhere between 1940-1960. Clean and large private rooms and a small "cute" Coffee shop when you walk in and check in. Hotel stay was planned to meet with an overseas visitor. If you like retro this is it----if not the hotel will disappoint as it will appear, as it should, old.

Our greenhouse club from Ohio State University booked this hotel mainly due to its dorm style rooms. We had 18 in our party and the bunk style rooms for 6 suited our needs and our budget. The hotel location was ok. We were visiting the low line lab so the location was great and the subway lines were close enough...

I used booking.com to reserve a room. First, the hotel twice denied my credit card even though it's fully functional. Then, they failed to honor the reservation policy even though the Rez was still valid. They gave my room away, left me stranded, were no help at all. A complete nightmare - leaving me without a room at 9 pm...

This hotel is in an amazing area and is located across the street from the Tenement Museum. It is a former tenement building itself, which has been transformed into a small hotel with 23 rooms, I believe. Some of the rooms are similar to hostel rooms, but most are private rooms. We had the Burns & Allen room and loved...

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighborhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
