Detailed Reviews
We booked this hotel to see Greta Van Fleet at MSG for the affordable price point and the fact its a reasonable walking distance to MSG. After we booked, I got a bit panicked because of all the awful reviews I read on here.
Not sure if this place is under a different management from when others have stayed, but I expected this place to be awful and it was quite the opposite.
If you are used to Hiltons and Marriotts, then I can see why someone might be a little put off by its hole in the wall feel, but I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable at this location.
The room was clean, the bed/pillows were comfy. No bugs. The TV lets you stream all kinds of apps you could want to wind down to after a day in the city and not just generic cable or hotel channels. The bathroom was clean, well lit, and had surprisingly good water pressure. The AC works and keeps the room cool. The photos shown on the listing are pretty much exactly what you get.
As for the staff, everyone we dealt with was kind and accommodating. They provided us extra towels when requested and let us store our bags there after check out for a small fee (we both took public transport and weren't leaving till a few hours after check out).
Yes, this location is about a 15-20 min walk from Times Square. But we did it and its not awful. It's an even shorter distance to Madison Square Garden, the Megabus station, and Penn station from the hotel.
Overall, this hotel really surprised me and I think people need to manage their expectations when booking a relatively cheap hotel in a great location in the city. When we come back for our next show we will definitely keep this place in mind!

The rooms are small and very basic. But who wants to spend a lot of time in a motel room when you have one of the best cities in the world at your door! There are no fridge or coffee making facilities in the room, but coffee and pastries are set out for breakfast on the ground floor. The staff are very helpful and the building is safe and secure.

The best of the hotel is the location. 36th Street and almost 10th Avenue, 400 meters from the E line that takes the Air Train to JFK Airport and another station about 600 meters away (J).
Carpet in the room, bathroom with curtain (see photos), very comfortable bed and pillows. Microwave, Smart TV. The room looks more like a roadside hotel than a city hotel. Quite quiet (only 5 rooms per floor). The ones next to the elevator are 00, 01 with an exterior view (I would ignore them)
On the L floor (lobby) there is a coffee maker with complimentary capsules and an ice machine. 24 hour reception. The elevator is a little slow so a lower floor is better than a high one.
10USD to leave the suitcase in the storage room (cash only).
In the same location of the hotel there is a supermarket with prepared meals, etc. very well stocked, so to save something it can be an excellent option, it also has an ATM.

I do all the travel planning for my husband and me and this is the first time I’ve had to apologize to my husband for my bad choice.
When you book a new hotel the only thing you can be sure of is the location and the amenities listed by the hotel. After that you have to rely on other people’s reviews. In this case, I was misled by both.
When I booked the room, the reviews were okay. They weren’t glowing but the room sounded acceptable. We’re not picky; all we want is clean and comfortable. The reviews all said it was a clean, comfortable place with an issue with unhoused people on the street. We were okay with that but something appears to have changed.
This was probably the dirtiest hotel we’ve ever stayed in. We were there for five days and never had any housekeeping services. The carpet was filthy, there was mold growing in the bathroom and it was in a general state of disrepair.
The internet was good but there were only two electrical outlets in the whole room. We had to unplug the microwave to plug in the laptop.
There was no coffee maker in the room and the coffee in the common area wasn’t available for the first three days (they said they were out of plastic cups.)
The main light and the bathroom light and fan were on motion detectors and came on when you walked into the room, even in the middle of the night. They were also on timers, so you had to get up to turn the lights on every half an hour. We had to unplug the reading lights by the bed to plug in my husband’s CPAP.
Because we had no housekeeping, we had to go to the front desk to get more toilet paper.

We were sorely disappointed when we arrived to a hotel that looked nothing like the pictures. Our room was covered in paint chips, there were cracks in the shower, and automatic lights that would turn on while we slept. There were also bags of linens left all over the hallways, an elevator that barely worked and felt overall unsafe, and hallways that reeked of cigarette smoke. The hotel was dirty, head to toe. While slightly cheaper than average, we paid upwards of $450 a night for a 2 person room. For that price I would at least expect paint on the walls and a clean experience. Would not recommend.

The location of this hotel is very good. It is near MSG and Times Square. Central Park is also in a walking distance.
Otherwise, quite poor hotel. Small and dirty room (a lot of hair on the floor). Air conditioning is very loud and not working well. Air is so humid that our towels didnt get dry during our stay that lasted 5 days. There is also mold in the bathroom. Furniture is old and broken. Cleaning is not included in room price. We had to empty the rubbish bins by ourselves. Customer service was quite poor. Basically, receptionists sat in the backroom and talked only when someone asked something. They didnt even greet when someone walked by the reception.
I wouldt book this hotel again. It is more like a bad motel and you find a better option at same price.

Stayed here overnight because we were taking classes at Peloton Studios which was a 5 minute walk. Extremely small room, lots of things falling apart, holes, rust, water stains on ceiling. Bed collapsed on one side when you sat on it. Would not return!

Hotel very well located. Between 9th and 36th, near the 34th train station, and also near The Edge.
Even though it has a good price for what it is like in New York, as long as you pay, they won't give you the quarter or you have to ask for a change of tuayes or shampoo, it draws attention.

Great location, but that’s probably about it. Was really grubby throughout, very old and battered and my room stank of cigarette smoke. Luckily I was only there for one night or I would have moved! I travel a lot and am comfortable in 3 star accommodation so it’s not like I’m a snob just definitely avoid this one!
