Nestled between Central Park and the Hudson River, the Upper West Side offers iconic architecture and a quiet, residential respite from the buzzing energy of downtown. Along Central Park West are many of the city’s most iconic apartment buildings, as well as the American Museum of Natural History, which has been welcoming visitors to its historic exhibit halls for over 140 years. Culture fans will love Lincoln Center,
home to some of the world’s best opera, dance, film, and theater performances, all centrally located around a beautiful fountain. Spanning the entire length of the Upper West Side, Riverside Park is ideal for a long, leisurely stroll in a quiet green space.

I didn't stay there. Less than 24 hours before I was due to arrive, "Gleny" emailed me to say that due to renovations, there would be no room for me during the entire 10 day stay I had paid for...in full, with a valid credit card 22 days before. I was able to get last minute accommodations elsewhere and while in NYC, I went to the hotel. It's very nice looking from the outside, but once inside, I found the lobby to be dirty, there was a medicinal smell n the air (disinfectant to cover vile odors?), the the front desk personnel anything but friendly and welcoming. I took the elevator to the third floor, which had that same medicinal smell. The carpeting was thread bare in spots, and the one room which had its door open looked rather shabby. I've heard that the entire place has been remodeled, so maybe the place is better than what I saw (and smelled). Personally, the staff turned me off, so I wouldn't stay there if they gave me a beautiful newly renovated penthouse at Motel 6 prices. Good customer service is as important to me as anything else. But that's just me.

"The highest roof can give you a view to the Hudson but the elevator will be in the next one down."
