The Gramercy Park Hotel's Haute Bohemian heritage represents a sensuous vision of artful diversity. Bohemia reinvented for the 21st century with an original combination of styles, with great pieces of furniture and artwork and the extraordinary use of color. It is still the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City, but honored and renewed in a glorious transformation.

We stayed here for a week as a sort of test trial for moving to NYC and potentially living in this neighborhood. I love how quiet Gramercy Park is, its like a little calm pocket in the city yet its perfectly located because its easy to get anywhere so this hotel is perfectly located for a weekend in the city. The hotel is legendary but its intimate, with its dark and dramatic lobby with a larger than life fireplace that's always burning in the winter and its art collection that boats real Warhol's and Hirst's. The exclusive terrace is perfection if you find yourself there in the summer. The staff are quite friendly, minus the door staff at the Rose bar, and the bartender is just the best! The rooms are on the smaller side, even for NYC, but the decor and use of space somewhat makes up for it. The onsite restaurant Maialino is fantastic, I had frequented it for brunch over the past years but I finally dined here for dinner during this stay and it was delicious, I highly recommend the cacio e pepe.

Dear Wanderthisway, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Gramercy Park area is known for it’s peacefulness and safety within the city, many of our guests stay with us for our prime location. We are close to many well known restaurants, bars, shopping stores and site seeing spots. Our impressive art collection spread throughout the property are very popular with our guests and the Maialino restaurant is a must have when staying with us. We hope you decided to move into our neighborhood! Best regards, Victor & GPH Team

Where has this hotel been all of my life with its gorgeous neighborhood and top notch service? There is an incredible bar in the lobby with an invigorating nightlife scene without being obnoxious. Andy Warhol on the walls. The room décor is a bit decadent – dark wood floors and velvet upholstery. The beds are very comfortable. Unlike most historic NYC hotel properties, the AC worked great – we had it running the whole time during a September heat wave. We were upgraded to a beautiful Suite on the 16th floor with a view of Gramercy Park and the Freedom Tower. There were lots of windows with blinds and room darkening shades. During my other trips to New York, I have stayed at more expensive properties on the UES or in Midtown. But staying in this lovely neighborhood was a game-changer; it’s our new favorite spot in Manhattan. Guests are mostly business travelers. It is an easy walk to bars, restaurants, shopping on Park Ave/Broadway. There is a subway stop nearby but we took Uber or taxis everywhere. The front desk staff, doormen, valet, housekeeping, and bartenders were all wonderful. Peter the hotel GM was especially gracious and saw to it that our stay was enjoyable. I like luxury and my husband likes to have a lively bar and restaurant scene in the hotel. We finally found the perfect spot that we both adore in NYC. I understand that Peter is no longer there but hopefully this hotel will be just as fabulous during our next trip to NYC.

I worked closely with Victor Morales (the hotel's concierge/guest experience manager) to plan my proposal and stay at the Gramercy Park Hotel. Victor went above and beyond. He met with me a few months ahead to walk me through the details and was very responsive to my communications leading up to the big day. Beyond his amazing service, the whole team at the hotel made sure that my fiancé and I had a fantastic stay. Thank you!

My fiancé and I had the most wonderful experience at Gramercy Park Hotel the night I proposed to her (and she said yes!). Beautiful room, tremendous room service breakfast, wonderful visit to the park, phenomenal staff. Because it was our engagement weekend, I wanted the stay to be perfect, and Victor met with me before the visit to go over every detail - and he provided many great ideas. Everything went perfectly and we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. We can’t wait to go back. Thank you thank you thank you!!

If I could leave no stars, I absolutely would. I've stayed at this New York landmark nearly a dozen times, loving their dark and dramatic rooms and the wonderful location adjacent to historic Gramercy Park, however my last stay was perhaps the most unacceptable hotel experience I've ever had. It began at check-in, when our room was not ready for nearly an hour post the 3 PM check-in time... a detail that usually would not matter to me, however it completely set back our afternoon plans to celebrate an engagement with friends. The front desk staff said they would call when the room was available, and when I went in-person to ask if the room was at all ready, the staff seemed completely confused and muttered a casual "oh! Yes that one!" They offered an upgrade, which I gladly accepted, however in reality... I believe I was given the exact same room I booked. While in the room, when I called down to ask for champagne flutes and ice, I was told that I would be charged for the glassware... one of the most ridiculous, and dare I say tacky, thing I've ever experienced at a hotel, particular one of this caliber. The moment that really destroyed the reputation of the hotel for me occurred at check-out. A credit card had been left at the bar with a tab the previous afternoon, and when we asked if we could close said tab and receive the card back, we were told that that was not possible as no "bartenders were not available." The concierge, who truly looked like a confused intern, was baffled when we asked if she could look for the card, at the very least, before our Amtrak train. She followed up with an attitude, and proceeded to tell us that no card could be located. She offered to call if it was able to be found once the bar opened at 3 PM, and I was surprised and delighted to receive a call saying it was found and that it would be sent to my home address in the mail. Said letter just arrived, and it was completely empty. When I followed up with the hotel management, they apologized and informed me that in fact, no card was ever found. This concierge simply lied to me and, to add insult to injury, had the audacity to mail me an empty envelope. Management apologized, but offered no solution, credit, or any form of reimbursement. This is simply beyond unacceptable. This hotel has truly gone down the hill to the point of being unrecognizable. Do not, and I cannot stress this enough, waste your money here. What you will get for it is a landmark that sadly, because of poor service and staff that cares more about their appearance then their degree of service, has completely lost its glory. You can find better service elsewhere, particularly for the money, so be wise and look around, avoiding this sad, sad place.
