This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed, worse than any motel, hostel or hospital I've ever been in, and I can't understand how they charge people to stay here, because you couldn't pay me to do so. The only reason we didn't leave is because everywhere else was booked. The place is dingy, dilapidated, makes no sense, and looks like a set from a horror film. I wish I were kidding. Have you heard about Fyre Island? Because this is the fyre island of hotels. I've never been ripped off like this before I'm trying to make sure you don't get ripped off like we did. Avoid at all costs.

Hotel's Favorite
The Hotel is probably a 3 star as I have read in a few of the reviews as it is old and currently being renovated. But I gave it 5 stars purely because the staff where fantastic in every way, especially Kye who went out of his way to make our stay great. Being from Australia and first time to New York, Kye helped us naviate the subway system and gave us some great advise to find gluten free food options nearby etc. The room was a bit dated but everything worked fine and it was clean and comfortable with fantasic views of the Manhatten skyline. Yes the elevators are old but to me that just added to charm of the place. It is in a great location and was a great place to stay.

Hotel looks absolutely nothing like the photos. We were able to get a room change thankfully but the room we started out is was falling apart. The lobby practically doesn’t exist. The elevator looks like a murder scene and the hallways on each floor before entering your rooms are so dirty. The staff at the front desk in lobby are kind but there’s clearly a huge management issue here. Don’t stay here.

First off I will like to thank everyone at the Riverton Hotel for making my birthday an amazing and unforgettable experience from start to finish. First off, Anna was the most down to earth event coordinator I have ever dealt with and I throw at least three parties a year. From our first conversation she made me feel so comfortable, as if I known her for years. She assisted with site visits whether she was there or not. When I arrived the day of my event, to my surprise my room was upgraded to the most amazing suite in the room. The wraparound floor to ceiling windows with the most spectacular views of NYC. The staff was so helpful from start to finish. There was absolutely nothing that I asked for that they didn’t help with. The staff is a young fun bunch that’s very educated on the area on what the area has to offer. The hotel location is ideal and near all of NYC hotspots. I will definitely be back to hotel Rivington.

This property as of Jan 2024 is still undergoing renovations. I knew going in that there might be some dated aspects to the place. We didn’t mind because we weren’t there for a romantic, picture-perfect getaway and stayed for the price (booked directly on their website during cyber monday week), location, and the big bathtub to take epsom salt baths (shopify product suggestion for the property :)))) ). The hotel has a lot of potential. The employees we interacted with were very nice, friendly, and accommodating. The bed was so comfy we almost slept the first day away. The shower water pressure was definitely the best in any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Wine hour was actually decent wine and thankfully not Stella Rosa LOL. I would definitely choose to stay here when I visit NYC again.

Absolutely the worst management of any hotel I have ever experienced. Booked a room from Friday to Sunday night the week before Christmas through my credit card travel. The hotels website states, if you would like early check in we recommend booking the prior night to guarantee access to your room early. So I booked the room for Friday night knowing we were not going until Saturday morning. Saturday we arrive at 11am, go to check in , and we are told they re sold our room and they are now sold out. I can see this happening if we had just put a deposit, but the entire stay was prepaid, and nothing on their website said to call and let them know when we were coming, what should it matter we paid for the room for the 2 nights. The young lady working the desk tells us sorry but if you call we will refund the room. I would hope so, as the now have been paid for the same room twice . We leave and have to last minute book a room at The Domenick ( which is always outstanding service). When wr get home I notify the credit card travel company of the situation, telling them the hotel has agreed to refund the room, they reach out and amazingly thr hotel has now denied the refund. Terrible service for following the hotels own reccomendations.

This hotel has so much potential, but between the unhelpful staff, hidden fees, terrible breakfast (everything was stale, the coffee was essentially water, and the layout is beyond awkward), construction and overall wear and tear of the premises, it is absolutely not worth the location or the money. The street noise is very loud and kept us up all night…highly suggest any other hotel in the city.

We had read several reviews regarding this hotel prior to making our reservation, so we had a good idea of what to expect... Overall we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of both the hotel and rooms. When we travel and stay at hotels, we have 4 basic requirements for our accommodation; general good cleanliness of the facilities (common areas/rooms), shower/water pressure (and hot/cold water), comfortable/clean bed and friendly staff. This hotel ticked all these boxes with ease. The tempur-pedic beds (we booked another stay within the same week upon check-out after our first stay) in both our rooms were some of best ones we've ever experienced, it was a joy to take a hot shower (and bath) during the cold November days and the staff were always friendly, knowledgeable and greeted you with a smile every time you passed through the lobby/reception area. And as many reviewers before us, a special shout out needs to go to Seki and Gina - you won't find better people in any hotel anywhere. The continental breakfast (served between 07:00-10:00 AM) also outdid our expectations. As we've travelled a lot in Europe, a continental breakfast usually means a few slices of white toast, jam/jelly/marmelade and maybe a cup of watered down coffee. To find both delicious bagels with several choices of cream cheese, yoghurts, fruit and pastries with your coffee/tea - together with the beautiful skyline views over the city (breakfast is served on the 20th floor) - wasn't the worst way to start off your day, on the contrary. And as others have mentioned, in the afternoons, before heading out to dinner, they offered wine hour everyday (free of charge) between 5:00-6:00 PM, on the same floor, this time accompanied by nighttime views of the same skyline. Yes, the hotel in general - and the rooms - have some wear and tear to it/them which we're certain will be rectified once their renovations are completed. We would like to point out, that the staff was more than welcoming to receive, and took notes, on any feedback you would give them during your stay in regards to the hotel and its facilities in order to take the necessary action either immediately or to be added to their "renovations list" for the future. Always with a smile and thank you. Overall we felt that, all of the main features were in order, so we didn't care if the elevator upholstery is dated - it took us up and down all the floors safely, and fast, we might add. Could the breakfast and wine hour area (on the 20th floor) use a minor 'makeover' with dimmed lighting, a few more plants, candles on the tables, some Ibiza chill tunes (playing during wine hour) and a generally cozier atmosphere? Definitely. But we enjoyed our fresh breakfast every morning while watching the sunrise and in the evenings we enjoyed small talking for an hour and a few glasses of rosé wine on the house - so what's not to like - if you've seen the prices for a glass of wine in any NYC restaurant. We have stayed at several different hotels and locations throughout the years in NYC when visiting, but this is the first time we honestly can say that we know that we will come back the next time we're in town - it was simply the perfect fit for us and our budget. Well done Hotel on Rivington!

I have never stayed in such a run down and run down hotel in NYC. The hotel was smart twenty years ago, but that is certainly not the case now. Already in the lift you get the impression of a hotel where there is no connection between price and quality. It is worn and bears the marks of many years of use. The room is a nice size, but the bathroom is even more run down than the hotel. Several days there was no room service. The employees had even become aware of the necessity of daily cleaning. The last day there was no hot water either. The hotel will probably be renovated in 2025. Until then, I would not recommend staying at this hotel. But the view is excellent and the bed good. The rest is highly critical.
