Nestled in Greenwich Village, the Walker Hotel garners praise for its excellent location and charming atmosphere, complete with cozy live jazz sessions. Guests appreciate the clean rooms and attentive staff, though opinions vary regarding room size and housekeeping consistency.
While the hotel offers amenities like free bottled water and dining options, some guests feel that these do not justify the prices, citing hidden fees and value concerns. Despite this, many find solace in the hotel's quiet ambiance for a restful night's sleep.

Detailed Reviews
We really liked this hotel which is the perfect cosy place to stay during the cold winter months. It's in a lovely inviting residential area and the hotel itself is equally welcoming. The downstairs communal area is beautifully decorated with daily complimentary bottles of water, coffee and apple cider (non alcoholic) and evening jazz sessions by some very talented young musicians. The reception staff are absolutely delightful, not at all obsequious and naturally warm. Special mention for Dale whose lovely smile lit up the place. Our twin bedroom had two large beds, a wardrobe, small stool, small dressing table and one bedside table. As stated by many reviewers, the rooms are a little small but in New York, thats pretty much run of the mill. Although the beds were really comfortable, we felt that by having slightly smaller beds, a chest of drawers instead of a wardrobe, two bedside tables instead of one, a bigger wall mirror instead of dressing table (too tight to use) and some wall hooks for coats, would have made the room feel more spacious. Yes, the room was dark but that didn't bother us too much although it was tricky to see things in our cases. We'd also have appreciated wall sockets with USB connections. We liked the €10 daily reduction off the goodies in our room and $20 reduction off dinner. The air conditioning/heat fan was too noisy so we left it off. The bathroom was fab: powerful shower, plentiful hot water, thick towels and shampoo etc. The area around the hotel was very pleasant with tree lined quiet streets and far less traffic than further uptown. All in all, a great success but just needs a few tweaks to the rooms and emails need checking as a few of ours weren't replied to.

Beautiful art deco style hotel in a fantastic location close to subway, 5th Ave and the vibrant Greenwich Village neighbourhood.
The staff in particular made this stay extra nice for us with their friendly and helpful style. Big shout out to our main man Tyler on reception for going the extra mile and making us feel super welcome from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left. Always there with a big smile and couldn’t do enough to help us out! Thank you!

The hotel is brilliantly situated in Greenwich Village and the staff, particularly Rosa were exceptionally helpful throughout. The rooms are a little on the small side but for two adults we managed perfectly fine throughout for a week.
The rooms are very clean with decent size bathroon, a bit light on storage space if you are there for more than a few days. The rooms on the top floors boast a lovely view of the Empire State so well worth asking before.
The restaurant downstairs technically does not belong to the hotel but offers reasonably priced food for the area, but there are better alternatives nearby. For drinkers it is a better shout during happy hour.
The only principal let down is really the gym, it is partnered with Planet Fitness in Union Square which is a real dive compared to the hotel and they would do well to seek an alternative partner or else create an appropriate space as it is quite hostile.
However, besides this, the hotel and staff provide excellent service and I would heartily recommend to anyone looking to stay in NYC and get value for money in an ideal location to visit the city. For couples, larger rooms should be sought for longer stays given the shortage of storage space in rooms.

We recently stayed at The Walker Hotel for 3 nights in their "The Bedford with View" room. While the hotel boasts beautiful décor and an unbeatable location in the heart of Greenwich Village, our experience was unfortunately marred by malfunctioning air conditioning during a sweltering summer week.
The upside: The Walker undeniably delivers on charm. The cozy aesthetic and prime location were definite highlights. We could easily walk to all the vibrant areas of the West Village.
The downside: Our stay coincided with a heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 100°F. Despite setting the thermostat to a cool temperature, the air conditioning in our room wouldn't budge past 78°F. We notified the front desk before we left for dinner, but after assurances of a technician's visit, the room remained uncomfortably warm upon our return.
While the initial response from the front desk manager was less than ideal (I realize now that she had a lot of complaints that night, we overheard other guests raising similar AC concerns, which might explain the frustration we encountered), they eventually found us a different room with a functioning AC. However, it wasn't perfect, only reaching 72°F. Considering the price point, we expected better climate control, especially during the summer. we decided not to let this spoil our 3-day vacation.
In Conclusion: I expected more. The Walker Hotel could be a great choice for a cozy winter getaway, but its small rooms and potential AC issues during peak summer may leave you wanting.

Great staff! The hotel is beautifully done in art deco decor. The restaurant is really good. We only had breakfast but it was really excellent lovely delicate pancakes with an abundance of strawberries and blueberries with real maple syrup, no charge. The eggs Benedict and the farm breakfast, eggs, toast, bacon, home fries and a small serving of dressed greens were fantastic some of the best home fries I have had in a restaurant. Thick well cooked bacon and lovely crusty artisanal toast. The poached eggs were spot on lovely soft yolk and just barely set whites, flawless timing. I suspect dinners will be good as well.
Jazz in the lobby in the evening Friday and Saturday was a lovely touch to set the mood. My only real complaint is that the rooms are dark. We were in a lovely spacious room 506 that has a sitting area with 2 lounge chairs and a bay window looking onto 13 th street. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. Very nice place but be prepared for the overall dark aspect of the property. It sets a mood but if you like a bright space this is not it.

BenK287, Thank you for the kind words about our staff, decor and restaurant! The olive pancakes and eggs Benedict are both amazing options! I recommend the market omelet when you return and please stop by for dinner, I recommend you my personal favorite, the Ricotta Gnocchi with wild mushrooms. Jazz performance is by the students from the New School who do an amazing job! You were in the Barrow Queen which is our largest room and lovely with the seating area. It was a pleasure reading your feedback, we look forward to your next stay! Warm regards, Jonathan Quezada Director of Front Office

We chose the Walker Hotel Greenwich Village because it was a boutique hotel in a good neighborhood location and the room size was nice for the price. The lobby feels like a cozy living room and really sets the tone for your stay. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and approachable. The carpets in the hallway needed to be vacuumed on our arrival day but was addressed the very next day. The carpet in the guest room could also stand to be replaced but everything else felt well-designed and well cared for, with tons of charm and character! We definitely enjoyed our stay overall!

We enjoyed the jazz music that was performed each evening in the lobby. The location is great with awesome access to the subway and wonderful restaurants, coffee shops and entertainment within close proximity, making it easy to get around by walking or by subway. The room was a bit tight but the shower was a nice size and the hot water and high pressure made up for the tight quarters

Great location :) We could walk to everything as we wanted. The street itself was quiet but everything was just around the corner. We didn't use any of the amenities that the hotel offers nor did we try the restaurant so unfortunately no helpful info to share. The room was small but clean and so wash the bathroom - the shower had great pressure :) Would defiantly consider coming back.

I picked this hotel for the location and I was not disappointed. It is close to many subway lines and we were able to get around the city pretty quickly. The hotel is very cute hotel. My room was small, a little smaller even than I anticipated but the bed was comfortable and it was clean and pretty quiet- no hallway noise and no street noise.

The location of the Walker Hotel was ideal for our needs (proximity to our daughter who lives in West Village). We could walk to a number of great restaurants, the Hudson River Walkway, the Hi-Line, Chelsea Market etc. The hotel’s staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are older, on the dark side and a little musty but clean and had everything we needed. Fridge can be requested. The lobby and bar/restaurant areas are very cozy and welcoming. The village walking tour by Streetwise on Sunday mornings is a terrific amenity provided free of charge by the hotel and well worth the 1 1/2 hour investment of time.
