I was supposed to go to NY in March and because of COVID 19 I wasn’t able to go. Since that, I’ve had the absolute worst experience with your customer service. I was promised a refund, then after 3 months Pod’s team said it was not possible. I’ve been waiting for at least a voucher to use in 2021 and since then no one from your customer service haven’t even contacted me.

Thank you for your feedback. Over the past year, we have faced some unique challenges. The hotel is currently operating with limited staff. We have done our best to communicate timelines and options to guests. As communicated, you will not receive a voucher but all nonrefundable reservations effected by COVID 19 can be rebooked by contacting our reservations team.

Was looking to take a romantic getaway in NYC with my boyfriend. Booked a room, received confirmation, traveled, showed up the day of and it turned out the hotel was closed to public due to COVID. Upon speaking to the manager, he was extremely rude, accusatory, and unapologetic when we explained to him the situation. His direct words were “you booked through a third party therefore it’s not my problem.” They then told us to leave, then we had to call the third party and find a new hotel myself. I would not book a room there again even if they paid me to.

Hello Brittany, Thank you for your feedback. While Pod 39 Hotel is currently closed, we are accommodating guests at our very nearby sister hotel, Pod 51. Unfortunately, because you booked through a third party we are not provided your contact information to correspond directly. Your interaction with our staff, as you describe it, is unacceptable. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Hotel bankrupt, they have not refunded a stay THEY CANCELLED ( c. $1000) to my mother who was visiting me from Ireland. Your booking will be cancelled and they will keep your money. Only reason given is they are not in a position to reimburse us right now. They say this yet they are still operating and taking guests. Refund people hard earned money or SHUT DOWN AND GO INTO RECEIVERSHIP.

Of course, your room would be small. Of course, the price would be above average. But it's a great deal for NYC. And when you choose to live right in the Downtown, you realize that it's a normal size for you room, and the price is very reasonable. I enjoyed our stay very much. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is young and vibrant. On the first day, they offered us to leave our bags for a couple of hours, so they can check us in in a better room. The room is clean. And despite the size (which is not too small but just small), it was very cozy. I was even able to do my morning stretching. Maybe, our window was too close to the bed, but for the warm month of October it was just fine. Speaking of window, it was as if we almost didn't have any view at all, but again, you pay for a proper room in the heart of NY. Everything worked smoothly: bathroom facilities, TV. Nothing disturbed our sleep. Location is perfect if you want to live in a middle of everything - easily get to both Upper Manhattan, and to Lower Manhattan, and if you don't have your favorite neighborhood where you really want to spend all the time, like SoHo, or the Village. I would say that one is ideal for people who want to see all of the city and are not ready to spend a fortune for their stay in NYC. Highly recommended.

NOTE: My visit was in July several years ago. I'd return as I loved this place and its location. Rooms are like IKEA model apartments. Decor young and relaxed. Full of foreign adventurers young and older like me. Reasonable small breakfast. Found hair salon and a chinese - Sichuan, I think - restaurant nearby. Easy access to subway for visits to my son in Brooklyn and reasonable transport to Newark Airport (and probably others.)
