My daughter and I had a nice stay at Pod39. Room was clean and simple. Staff was friendly and helpful. You get what you see and nothing more. The location is hard to beat if you need Grand Central close.
Multiple issues from start to finish leaking shower, no volume control on tv, shutters let in all the light so no sleep. Both bars & restaurant were closed & at no point on booking or check-in was I informed. So no facilities at all available in the hotel & paid a fortune for this hotel purely on the fact it HAD a roof top bar. If I’d been informed I’d have stayed somewhere else. When I brought it to the attention of the manager he swiftly replied I can checkout if I like. No offer to fix any of my issues!!! Disgusting treatment. Do not waste your money on this place. After my experience not even the rooftop bar would make up stay here staff were beyond rude. So don’t make the mistake of booking this poor attempt at a hospitable hotel, complete lack of hospitality.
The cleaning staff was really nice but people at the front desk were definitely not, they helped you out because they had to, but nobody is able to at least say good morning before asking what you need. The rooms are ok, very small but serve their purpose, very clean, but they don't have a couple things I think are essential like a microwave and a small fridge, I was there for 5 days and I struggled a lot with not having these commodities. Good location a lot of things close including food stablishments and delis.
My worst experience in NY ever. Good location, close to Grand Central Station. Room is like expected, small but enough, but the pipes noises….terrible. When you or your neighbors open the shower tap…OMG, terrible noises. Cleaning service is not the best. Ok you can live with that but the worst thing: employees. The billing service is the worst I ever seen. I arrived in May, 6th in the evening. In the morning they charged 152€ (held money)to my credit card, that’s correct but on arrival they charged 906€ (held money). I asked to the receptionist why. He said that I should pay a security extra charge ( will be refund at the end of the stay). I booked on Booking.com (All the taxes and extra charges were paid). Then another receptionist (Veronica) said to me I did not know what I was talking about. Excuse me?. I am 52 and I have been working in hotels for the last 25 years, may be you don’t know what are you talking about miss. Then her colleague said to me: THIS IS NY. What?. If I visit NY you can do what you want? (this is my 7th stay in NY by the way). You are mistaken man!. Well, they insisted again and again and was 10.30 pm (after 11 hours flying). Tomorrow will be a new day. Early in the morning I talked to Willi (Night Shift), a really good guy!. He said their colleagues made a mistake (obviously). “He released my money” and charged the correct rate (725€ held). Well, two days later I did’t have money in my account. Again to the front desk asking about that. I decided to talk to the front desk manager (Brian) after talk to my bank (37€ for the phone call). Correct he said. You are right. I know but what about my money? (1800€ approx). Well, I will release your money (again) I will send an email to you for your bank. I will call to our bank asking for a fast release. Well how long will it take?. I don’t know ?????. Tomorrow I will be leaving NY and I don’t have my money and I don’t know how long will it take so….If you what to have your money safe don’t stay in this hotel. Oh, one more thing, they charged 759€ and the correct rate was 733€. A 5 years old child could do a better work the those employees (except Willi and Brian). Hope to see my money soon. I said it to Brian. You can be New Yorkers, you can live in one of the best countries in the world but you are not better than other people. In fact, your salary is coming from us. They said they have less visitors than before the COVID. What do you expect working like this, talking to your guests like this?. I just arrive to Spain. 2 days after talking to the front desk manger and 6 days after talking to the receptionists, the money is not release…
Loved my 2 night stay on 15th floor! No view to speak of, but 3 functional windows! Bed was extremely comfortable and room had everything I needed. The air system was a bit uncomfortable though as it blows straight down from the ceiling onto pillow area, which is quite brisk. I did not feel comfortable leaving windows wide open during night, as there were no screens, so I got a bit hot. Bathroom is right next to bed, but door closes and is frosted for privacy if room is shared. Rooftop closes at 8pm and rooftop bar was closed. Common room was a bit loud with both tv and music playing both evenings I stopped in there, but seemed a bit calmer in mornings. They sell beer and wine for just $5! I was able to store luggage for free and walk to Bryant Park easily! Would definitely stay here again! Staff went above and beyond!…
The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Yes, the room is tiny and the your clothes hang above a table, but there is a safe, a drawer for your stuff and your suitcase goes under the bed. I had 3 windows in my room with shutters and I loved the rainfall shower. The only thing that would make the room better would be a mini fridge. Pod 39 is a great value for the price.
rooftop close and no one to tell you why! not notified anywhere in their website. I would never pay this price for a 13m2 room if it was not because of a rooftop! noisy nights.. poor light in the room and staff not so friendly for a place like that. great location and clean room but sure you can find better easily :)
It was ok but the internet wouldn't work in my room and no one really cared. Service could be a bit better. On the plus side, although the rooms are, of course, small, they are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Location is perfect.
The internet didn’t work. We complained so they changed to another room The room has a bad smell The bathroom walls are glass so you can see everything The rooms are very tiny Good things: the hotel is close to everything, the hall is beautiful
Pod 39 Hotel is near Grand Central Station close to everything. The rooms are small, very clean, quiet, modern and functional. if you want to stay in Midtown, I definitely recommend this hotel. The solo room was perfect for my one night stay.
