Neighborhood
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.

We stayed at the Soho House the second time. The first time (2011) we loved it, but this time it was disappointing. We had the Large Room, but the first one was in the 2nd Floor with a window 2 meters from a construction site. no light, no view and if you would have opend the curtains, the Workers would look into your bed… not was I expect for USD 1100/night… After a heated fight with the front desk, we got a better room the second night… Still, the Claim Management was really bad and not what you expect in this Price league...

Great location, vibe, cool bar BUT if you are booking this as a hotel to sleep in think again. There is a nightclub called Catch opposite which goes on until 3am. The hotel windows are not great and the AC could do with an upgrade to compensate for the outside noise. Hotels are for sleeping and Soho House should sort this out.

We were in New York for a few days for work and one of our party was an every house member, so we decided to take lunch on day at Soho House. It was a bizarrely warm day for the time of year, and the sun was shining brightly enabling us to have lunch on the roof by the pool. This was a 'funky' location and somewhat of a media hangout I'm sure. The food and the service was as you'd expect from a private New York hotel, but without an overly heavy price tag. We enjoyed 5-6 hours on the roof top before heading for our flight to London. It was really quite the perfect end to a somewhat bust trip.

This was our third time staying at this Soho House hotel, and it never disappoints. We always feel like royalty. The rooms -- from the size, to the comfort level, the extras (Marshall wireless speaker, sugar cookies, fluffy robes), posh linens, stylish and comfortable furniture -- are incomparable. They leave nothing out. This time we stayed in one of the newest rooms on the 2nd floor facing south with a gorgeous, huge window and tons of light. Where else do you get that in New York?! The rainhead shower and CowShed products (of course) are so generous, the towels the plushest of plush, classy amenities (from flip flops to ear plugs) never stop coming. It's like coming to a haven of comfort and luxury every day. We are members, so maybe we get the "attitude" of the staff, and we are used to the public places being crowded and sometimes a "scene," but you work with it. And we are by far not young but never feel any age-ism. Everything is super clean, room service comes twice a day to tidy up AND the complimentary, door-to-door cocktail bar every evening is an absolute delight. We will never stay anywhere else in NYC.
