This is definitely a budget accommodation. If price rules your choice of hotels, then this is the place for you. The room & bath are very small, the bed only a double, and the room not much wider than the bed. While the room & bath were clean, there are no amenities in the room like a coffee service. And...

Good value, budget accommodation with a great location, close to two subway stations and plenty of great places to eat and drink. Basic, clean and tidy room with non shared bathroom facilities. Would stay again.

If you're looking for somewhere to basically just sleep and shower then this is your place. My partner and I stayed there last year and are staying again this April. We are the kind of people who like top be out exploring constantly therefore a fancy hotel wasn't necessary (or really within the price range!) The room we had looked...

For a weekend trip to NYC we were more willing to spend on experiences and food than a hotel we wouldn't spend much time at. Our room was very small but clean with no bedbugs which is the most important thing to me. There were three flights of stairs that might have bothered my mother but were no problem for...

If you want an inexpensive room in New York this is it. I just needed a room for the night paid cash, no credit cards, went out to dinner and left early in am My wife would not really have liked the hotel, but I had a quick meeting the next morning and it was fine. The room had no...

Adequate hotel with all the basics! Stayed on the second floor and the first night (Friday) was extremely noisy.....so if you like peaceful sleep then maybe not the place for you. Great location and value for money.

Drove in by Megabus (BOS-NYC @ $5); stayed 2 nights at Saint Mark's Hotel (cheap and clean, but you had to pay cash - ask for a receipt!); toured Manhattan (36 km) with RollingOrangeBikes. The absolute best way to see the city (Central Park, John Lennon Memorial, One Trade Tower, 9/11 Memorial, Brooklyn bridge. We also walked the High Line...

I got the hotel because of the price. The location is not bad, I have to say that if you are not healthy enough to climb stairs along with your luggage I would not recommend this place for you. The rooms are not that big but that is NYC standards unless you want to pay more of course. The room...

I've stayed at the St. Marks on every trip to New York for years now. It is hard to find a reasonable place in the city. The location, price, and decency of the staff and rooms made it worthwhile. But the price has gone up and the cleanliness has gone down. I'll probably be looking for a new spot.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
