    Excellent as usual
MO in New York is located across from the Central Park and next to a shopping mall. Within minutes of walking distance there are a lot of restaurant selections. Excellent location. Checked in at around 9:30 preparing for luggage storage because I booked the 11:00 reservation at MET museum. Check-in was very fast and the staff was very efficient. She also invited me to join the breakfast at the Lounge. The Maître D' didn't see that we were there first and seated the only empty window seats to the couple behind us, but promised that when there was window seats open, would change our seat. However, he forgot to do that. We had to ask a waiter to change to the window seat when that couple left. The food in the Lounge is average compared to other MOs; maybe it is because the food service is limited after reopening. Meanwhile, our room was ready within half an hour and all the luggages were sent to the room already. Excellent service! The upgraded room is clean but lacks a coffee machine. The refrigerator is full of drinks on automatic mode: if the door is not close within 30 seconds, guest will be charged. There is no room for drinks that brought by the guests. Compared to other MOs in China, this MO does not have an executive lounge, therefore it does not have an option to book the executive rooms with lounge access. Because of the pandemic, restaurants are not fully opened. It is already very good because the Spa, the gym and pool are open, not many New York hotels are able to do that. Like other MOs, daily house keeping includes cleaning in the morning and turndown service in the evening. It is the familiar "Jasmin" music played on the TV that always reminded me that I am in my very favorite hotel. House keepers are also attend to details like other MOs. Cables of chargers would be tied together and well organized; bath salt would always be replaced when it was used. When meeting a house keeper in the hallway, she could always call me by my last name...this is how MO is unique and why I love MO! It reminds me that when I stayed in MO Shanghai, even Mr. Clements Hoerth, the general manager, would recognize me and called my name. It is simply amazing.
Dear _E2183JP, We sincerely appreciate you taking a moment to write about your stay with us at Mandarin Oriental, New York. It is wonderful to read how much you enjoyed the service our colleagues were able to provide you, though regret that you had issues while dining at the lounge. We look forward to welcoming you to our other sister properties and hope to welcome you back again on a future stay in New York. Warm Regards, Mandarin Oriental, New York Management Team

    Perfect Stay
We stayed at the Hotel and it was excellent. We stayed in the "least" expensive room, with views to the river, and even though the hotel offers more "luxurious" rooms and rooms with views to central park, this room was excellent. The views from the 47th floor were amazing. We arranged for the hotel to pick us up at JFK and the process went smoothly. Upon arrival our room was ready (we arrived around 11PM) Room service was perfect every time we used it The Breakfast is a la carte, no buffet (which for me its a better option) The views from the restaurant and the bar is impressive, with unobstructed views of Central Park The service in the hotel is top notch. I agree that the Mandarins in Prague, Paris and Munich are more "luxurious" but this hotel is an excellent choice. The location is perfect and the shopping mall in the first 3 floors provide a lot of options if you don't want to venture off or want an option for lunch that is easy.
Dear Besttravel_28, We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us at Mandarin Oriental, New York and the views throughout our hotel. We hope to welcome you back again soon on a future visit to Manhattan. Warm Regards, Mandarin Oriental, New York Management Team

Walking into the lobby of MO you're greeted with an elegant view, and smiling faces. We were warmly welcomed and assisted to our room, where the ice and champagne glasses were located per our prearranged request. After some challenges getting to NYC due to recent storm Ida's damage, we were at ease while enjoying a glass of bubbly and taking in the stunning view of Columbus Circle from the 46th floor (rm 4608) our room was impeccably cleaned, and turndown was a welcome amenity. (Many luxury hotels have yet to return to providing this service) evening cocktails and breakfasts were enjoyed at the MO LOUNGE.. again enjoying stunning views of Columbus Circle. Our 4 night stay was a welcomed experience as we slowly return to life pre-covid. We really appreciated the extra touches taken by the property to make us feel cared for and safe. From the hand sanitizer to the proof of vaccine required to enter MO Lounge. Long days at the US Open really made us appreciate the solitude and relaxing space of our room at night. A beautiful experience. Thank you MONYC.

Spent a few nights here. Rooms are nice in that typical MO style. Location is pretty great. On Columbus Circle. Easy access to subway. Whole Foods kitty corner from hotel for your organic food needs. Teenager lost a pair of travel pants here. What happened is that the pants must have got caught up in the linens (They did not put them away or hang them as I instructed them to do so. Teenagers.) when they were cleaning the room. Looked around the room and in the luggage. Couldn’t find pants. Notified front desk. Told us they would look into it. We left for our vacation. Two weeks later, we got back to the US. Hotel called me and left a voicemail that they found the pants. Got in touch with the head of housekeeping and they sent the pants back home, via FEDEx which must have cost them a bit. Nice touch. Booked through Amex. Nice breakfast (included). Views of Columbus Circle and Billionaire’s Row skinny skyscrapers and Central Park.

Great location. Food is not bad. Hotel needs to update inside interior and elevators. Gym needs more space and bigger dry sauna. Otherwise great staff. Spa was good as well. Great view to Central Park. Would definitely return in the future.

why do hotels add 18% to every bar tab and restaurant bill, HIDE IT, and then try to get us to ADD TWO MORE TIPS????!!!! it started during covid and it's still lingering. it's B. S. the NYC mandarin, which costs over $2,000/night, sneaks 18% onto the food tabs, and then leaves TWO blank lines for TIP and GRATUITY. i scratch my head at this – and mentioned it because i hate being nickel-and-dimed – and the restaurant manager didn't even apologize. "you can take it off and leave whatever you want". well, true, but only if you noticed that they slimed it in there in tiny print, well above the 2 - yes TWO - TIP and GRATUITY lines..! i'm a fan of great service and always tip accordingly, but force-placing 18% and they hoping i don't notice and leave ANOTHER 20% as usual???? B. S. STOP THIS PRACTICE NOW. or we won't be coming there any more, even though the sunrise views from the 54th floor were as good as anything i've ever seen. and please: maybe leave the nespresso coffee makers in the rooms, so we don't have to come down to get one..??!! yawn. i prefer the MO in lucerne, switzerland over this one by miles. perhaps the GM from NY needs to go see how hospitality is really done (and for slightly less money)...

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the poor service I experienced during my recent stay at your hotel. I had high expectations as a loyal customer, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short of what I had anticipated. Firstly, I would like to address the issue of early check-in. As a hotel representative assured me, I was promised an early check-in at 12 PM. However, upon arrival at 12:30 PM, I was informed that my room was not yet ready. This was particularly inconvenient as my flight had landed at 6 AM, and I was exhausted from the overnight journey. Furthermore, when my partner and I requested a late check-out, we were met with resistance. Despite our willingness to pay for an additional night, we were forced to vacate the room and pay for an extra night's stay. To make matters worse, the room was not cleaned throughout the day, despite the fact that we had paid for an additional night. This lack of attention to detail and disregard for our comfort was highly disappointing. Additionally, I would like to highlight the lack of advertised amenities at your hotel. The website clearly stated that there was a restaurant on-site, yet upon arrival, we discovered that it was closed. It is unacceptable that this information was not updated anywhere, leaving us without dining options within the hotel premises. As frequent travelers and members of your loyalty program, my partner and I have stayed at your hotels in Tokyo and Barcelona. However, due to these recurring issues, we are now considering removing ourselves from your loyalty program and seeking alternative accommodations in the future. I hope that you take my feedback seriously and address these concerns promptly. As a loyal customer, I believe it is essential for you to rectify these issues to maintain your reputation and ensure customer satisfaction. I look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will take the necessary steps to improve your services. Yours sincerely,

The hotel is in a good location and has excellent concierge. However it’s looking a bit tired and is very expensive for what they offer in the way of food. The plumbing was faulty and despite asking for it to be mended it wasn’t fixed during our stay. Lovely views from the bar area though

Deeply disappointing experience, starting from check in. Staff who have “never seen the gym” so couldn’t comment what it has, to a Fans of MO room upgrade that “is not available” (but I see on the website I can book the next category up?), breakfast maître d’ sniffling and sneezing with zero interest and telling me to “sit over there and wait” (5 mins) because no one was available to clear a table at 10:30am (do it yourself?). An excellent concierge desk, bellhops, and gym attendant sadly can’t make up for the other staff for whom any request is too much effort and takes far too long. The beds are quite firm but linen is nice. Bathrooms are spacious and amenities excellent but the shower nozzles are poorly labelled and hot water takes a while to arrive. You must ask for a Nespresso machine in the room. The Central Park views are INCREDIBLE. The prices on the website hid the actual room cost including taxes, neglected to mention “breakfast included” actually means a daily credit ($41) that doesn’t cover a single food dish + a coffee! I decided to make coffee in my room and was charged $7 for the milk. It would make for a splendid comedy if it wasn’t supposed to be a five star hotel. Overall a very poor experience. The tackiness and conniving pricing I’d expect of a lower brand, the unhelpfulness and poor attitude of staff I might expect of your average Eastern European B&B, but with the views of heaven. I would accept such outcomes at a price point 30% lower, but this was not the standard I thought I paid for.

Annual mother-daughter getaway to the US Open - best location and best hotel yet. Three night stay. Staff was incredible - door staff got us a car to the theater, fitness center saved my favorite snack, desk and housekeeping could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Early morning coffee/tea cart in the lobby. And the fragrance in the air throughout the hotel is amazing! And we were literally steps away from subway access to the tennis center - easiest thing ever. No more hotel experimenting - we'll be making this our annual NYC hotel destination for the Open.

Exceptional value. This was our second time at MO and I was expecting the same as last time but it was a cut above! We were only returning for the view but this time the staff were wonderful - they treated my toddlers like queens! From the front desk to the maids - every single one of them was worth their weight in gold. Our room was magnificent. Our experience was even better. If you compare the price to other family accommodation in Manhattan is far better. And it's perfect for families as you're on the cusp of everything and right next to the park. We can't wait to come back!
