Location was fantastic. Plenty of great places to eat nearby and a Whole Foods Market just a block away. The in-room refrigerator was a great luxury to have and, admittedly, one of the top reasons I decided on this hotel. I saved a lot on food having that little ammenity available. Area was safe and fairly quiet. Room was clean, comfortable and although perhaps small for some it was perfect for me. The staff (desk and cleaning) was pleasant, efficient and happy to help. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed here twice in June and both times were great. The hotel is in the Chelsea area which is close enough to the popular tourist traps to be convenient but far enough to enjoy the wider pavements (sidewalks!) and leafier residential areas. It's very close to a lot of shops, restaurants, subway stations and buses. You don't have to walk more than a block to reach any of these. Yes, it is opposite building work that is taking place however there is no noise inside the hotel. It has very good soundproofing. The hotel has a breakfast buffet area with a lot of seating (there is an additional conservatory) and the food is excellent. Every morning, between 6:30 and 10:30 you have the choice of hot food (varies every morning but usually eggs, bacon or sausages), cereals, fresh fruit, breads and pastries, make your own waffle, tea/coffee/milk/fresh juice and more. The mini omelettes are fabulous! I am in awe of the kitchen staff. There are only two who manage to produce all that food and keep the place clean and well stocked. They do an amazing job. Yes, there are paper plates, bowls and plastic knives and forks but it's no problem. It's more hygienic after all. The rooms are a good size, the beds are very comfortable and there are plenty pillow options. Each room has a digital safe which is large enough for storing a laptop and there are so many USB ports in the room, I lost count. The bathrooms are good; plenty towels and good storage with a large mirrored cabinet. Housekeeping does a great job keeping it all clean. The hotel has a laundry in the basement which is very useful; there is a small gym, a business area and there are vending machines and you can purchase snacks and drinks near reception. The reception staff are all very helpful and friendly and the response to any request is instant. Very impressive. I highly recommend this hotel as a great choice whether for business or leisure.…
Although there is no evening dining on premises, staff had a printout of nearby restaurants, including ones that delivered. Breakfast contained a good variety of hot items such as eggs, sausage, waffles as well as fruit, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. The pressed juice was a nice addition!
This hotel has an excellent staff. They are friendly and helpful. There is a lot of construction currently in Chelsea but we heard none of it when in our room. Ask for a high floor - we had a good view and it was very quiet! There are several subway options within 3 blocks of this hotel. One is very close, just about 3/4 of a block but around two corners. This is hands down the best Hampton Inn’s breakfast I’ve had. The fresh fruit was actually fresh and plentiful. Numerous cereals, pastries, and an egg white omelette were also available. The price made this an attractive option for us and we are very glad we tried it! Manhattan is not inexpensive.
This is Manhattan, so rooms are small and spendy as you'd expect. The location was great to see the city...a good home base. We were there to see the city, not a room, so we were satisfied. Look it up on a map...if you are spending time exploring Manhattan, this is a great location to base yourself from.
