After doing a road trip this was the last hotel we stayed in and was by fast the worse!!! No sleep for 3 nights due to very noisy air conditioning unit outside window that could not be switched off. We were offered ear plugs and a 10% discount which was an insult. Since our return I have emailed several times and not had a response!!
Outstanding location, perfect if it is your first time in NY or you need to be close to TS, subway (1, 2, 3, N, Q, R, 7, S, A, C, E stations), Port of authority, Bryant Park, Central Park, etc. The staff was very helpful all the way! Everything I needed it was solved. Julie was extremely nice and always going the extra mile. The room was small but perfect to stay, I was there for a week and was very nice. It was room 502, at the front of the hotel so it was a just little bit noisy but I didn't mind. The bed is so comfortable that you don't want to get out of it. As I asked for a room at the front, when I arrived there wasn't any available so I got one on the other side of the building, 602 room (the pictures are from this room, I don't have any of the other one. The 502 room was a bit smaller but at the front) The restroom looked the same). The next day Julie got one room for me at the front. Everyday you have 2 water bottles for free, and 3 coupons, 2 for food in the city (burgers and hot dogs) and 1 for a drink in the tavern. Gleason's Tavern is the best. Breakfast is included and was always great! The staff was very nice and attentive. And the food is great! I would definitely recommend the Shocard to my friends! Thank you for making my trip so easy! I was traveling alone and it was perfect! Marcia I would just improve the block out curtains in the room.…
As a solo female traveler, i feel like it’s important to stay in a central place; Shocard’s location is perfect! In Times Square, close to everything, very nice staff, the room & bathroom were very clean, I would definitely book a room there when I visit NYC again.
I can’t believe this place has such high ratings. Location is great if you want to be in Times Square. My room size was decent although it was only me. But the room is dark and there’s this ugly brown carpet and strange wood paneling on the walls. It’s not a welcoming room once you’ve been out all day touristing or working. If you’re staying more then 2 days— spend a little more money and try for a better hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean.
Pros: relatively very cheap, great location, with access to the entire city. Nice design, clean rooms. I had good ac, don't know what others are talking about. cons: small rooms, we didn't mind. you are in new york, who cares if the room is small. You wont wake up to natural sunlight, as the entire street is filled with billboard light, so you have to use the curtines in the room. might here noise from outside, so if you are a very light sleeper you will have a problem. We didn't had any problems sleeping.
