Small, boutique style B&B in Chelsea. My room wasn't big but pretty well appointed.-it was Immaculately clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Just recovering from a serious illness and found I didn't have the strength to carry my, not very heavy, bag up a flight of stairs, there was no quibble about helping me both up and down with my bag.... It is a Very nice place, very clean and confortable. It is Not very cheap but ls a good zone. There is a principal avenue near the hotel , and the Penn Station is very close, I think is a good option to stay , the bathroom is shared but it is very clean.

Spent 3 nights in mid July 2016 in the Paradise Suite with two Seniors & 3 teen age girls. Plenty of space and comfy beds and hot water for all those showers and baths! Relatively inexpensive for 5 folks and breakfast in NYC in a great location for all the stuff most tourist visitors do. Staff was wonderful - every... More

We seldom stay at hotels where bathrooms are shared but since we wanted to stay at the Chelsea area and there weren't that many hotels in that area to choose from, we decided to check this one out. We stayed for 6 days and as it turned out, there was only one time when the bathroom on our floor was... More

Really enjoyed staying here - lovely B&B atmosphere in an amazing location. The staff were so friendly and attentive too. The room I stayed in was clean and simple - the shared bathroom felt like it had been modernized recently. Would definitely stay here again!

Front desk staff is somewhat willing to help, but nothing happens; they just sit in their little cage being busy on the computer. The really ought to get up on their feet and try to satisfy the customers. At breakfast I had to ask for coffee, had to ask for yogurt, had to ask for spoons. It would have been... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Colonial House. The staff was wonderful. A special thanks goes to Jose who went out of his way to look up info to make our stay more special. The location was great as it was a block and a half to the subway. The inn is on a quiet street which is refreshing after... More

Nice hotel in Chelsea area, friendly staff, nice and clean rooms at reasonable rate. In middle of Chelsea district so no shortage of places to go for food and drinks and nightlife. It also has a great roof terrace for a bit of sunbathing weather permitting!

I have stayed at Colonial House for a number of years and it is my preferred place. If you want quiet, clean, and convenient, CH is it. The rooms are small, but I don't go to NY to stay in a hotel room. The shared bathrooms are kept very clean by staff and other guests. The WiFi was working only... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighborhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighborhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighborhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
