The Gatsby is good if you're fine with a no-frills hotel at an affordable price in NYC. The rooms are small, clean, and efficiently designed. The front desk staff is friendly and accommodating. On the down side there is really not even a lobby to...More

We stayed over Nov 2nd, 2018 at this hotel. The room was small but very clean.
Beds were quite comfortable. It was a perfect location for us in the lower east side.
The lobby personnel were pleasant and helpful.
Our room in the basement was very small and loud. The street noise included the voices of people who walked by our window. We could everything they were saying. Street noise was pronounced. The room was the smallest hotel room we have ever stayed in.

Friendly and welcoming staff and conveniently placed for the subway. Rooms were small but had the necessary conveniences. Had a room on 3rd floor and could hear when traffic outside was noisy, but not too bad.

There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to
wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
