This hotel is a great little place to stay in a fabulous spot between Nolita/ LES and East Village. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful - a big shoutout to Peter and Kristal on the front desk, who made me feel welcome. The only downside - the rooms are small and because of the location can be a little noisy - but for the price, you can't go wrong. I will definitely stay here again.

I chose this hotel because of the price and location which is near Mt Sinai Beth Israel hospital. It was a rainy day and the hotel was easy to find. It is located at a corner. You go up a short flight of stairs and reach the small lobby. Front desk ladies are very professional and pleasant . Lobby was bare bones with a small seating area and a stand with some NYC brochures. The room was pretty basic. Doors had a good lock. Our Full Bed was clean , pillows were nice, plump enough and fresh and the white bed sheets were fresh and nicely starched. Air conditioner was newer and worked very well and the bathroom was also very clean. It was a relief to come to a nice cool room with a clean bed after a long day of walking around. However it isn’t a luxury hotel. The paint job on the walls is fresh but is poorly done and one of the black out curtains had one hook missing so the edge was dangling. The closet had an ironing board but no iron . The coffee table had one mug and a couple of packet of instant coffee and cream but no coffee maker. Turns out you have to walk to the front desk and ask for the iron and coffeemaker if you needed one. There was a small lcd TV which was working. There were two clean white bath towels in the bathroom but no hand towels . At least the towels were clean and fresh. The floor , shower curtain and the tub was also newly scrubbed and very clean. Toiletries were sparse . One single bottle of shampoo. They were out of soap bars. I had to go to the front desk and ask for more towels and another bottle of shampoo which they apologized for but gladly provided. So, would I go back again in the future? Yes. For one night it is more than what I need. It is a clean basic bed and shower place to crash into after a long day of walking. If I had to stay more than a night I would bring my own soap and coffee maker next time.

The rooms and comfort are very standard, which is fine considering the usually cheap price overall. However, I must say the front desk crew (I personally interacted with Shelly and Nowshin) has been extremely helpful and understanding when having issues with comfort. They have been understanding my issues of noise due to the basement location of my room, and made everything possible to move me in a better option asap, always being very friendly and understanding.

Nice and clean. Friendly, helpful service! Will gladly stay here again! We asked about a place to eat for breakfast. The staff gave two great options and we had a nice meal. The location is very easy to navigate walking or taking public transit. Very good place.
If you aren’t used to a bit of noise it could be tough to sleep. But that wasn’t a big deal for us.

Be aware of extra charges!
Hotel didn’t have water or coffee, but at check out they charged a fee for holding luggage, water and coffee which they did not have to offer and I didn’t use. They wouldn’t let me check out or leave the hotel without paying a 17 dollars a day facility fee. Tv didn’t work in my room. closest parking was 80 dollars a day the hotel doesn’t have a parking discount like the other hotels in the area. It is cheaper for a reason.

This hotel is in the perfect location away from the tourist traps. Everything is walking distance such as Chinatown, Little Italy, SOHO, Manhattan Bridge, NYU, and Washington Square. If you need anything there's a CVS, Marshall's, and Wholefoods about a block away. We found so many great restaurants with amazing food. Must check out MINE sushi! It only took us 20 mins to get to Time Square to see the Lion King. I have to say that the staff here is amazing. After being here for 11 days, we got to know Amina, Shelly, Nowshin, Brittany, and Aaliyah. They provided great customer service, always greeted us with a smile, and provided great recommendations around the area. I was also working remotely and Aaliyah recommended that The Bean would a great place to get work done. We ended up going back there multiple times. We've been to NYC many times. We've stayed in more expensive hotels in the heart of NY where the rooms were smaller to PODS that made it seem like we were living in a closet and the employees were rude. This hotel has been the best spot we've stayed it so far. Also like the fact that you can't get in the lobby without a keycard or buzzed in.

We picked this hotel for the price / location; which were great. The service was great too with friendly, helpful counter staff, and free luggage storage with a ticket.
The trade-off is the small bed (but very comfortable!) and small room, fittings in need of minor maintenance (like towel rails, lights, toilet flush handle etc). And it didn't really feel very clean and fresh.

Noise: It was a little noisy with E Houston St right out the window, but we asked for the corner room and the noise didn't bother us. That location will always be a little noisy! The worst noise is from other guests in the hallways - with no sound proofing they sound like they are in your room!

But the location was excellent with a 2minute walk to 2nd Ave F train and supermarket above, walking distance to Little Italy, East Village, and nearby El Churro which we loved!

Space is limited; however, it is a cozy place to rest up after a long day in the city. The location is ideal (especially for the price) for those looking to try out iconic restaurants in the area. Staff was friendly and generous. Specifically, I originally
booked a Full; yet, when I checked in, the front desk, out of their generosity, upgraded to a Queen at no additional costs. The room was overall clean; however, on the first day, the bed sheets had some strands of hair and some minor stains. We requested the bed sheets to be replaced in which they were. The bed sheets weren't too much of a concern as the value for the location and the upgrade from a Full to a Queen overshadowed the bed sheets. I would return as hotel was cost efficient.

Hi danwynn77, Thank for choosing the Gatsby and for leaving a review. Thank you for also pointing out the issues you have with the sheets/linens. I will be addressing this with the housekeeping department right away, as it's far less than out standards. I am glad you were able to enjoy your upgrade and some of the perks of the LES. Please ask about our loyalty discount on your stay. We hope to welcome you back soon! Safe travels, Naleni M Manager

Terrible room in the basement without Windows. Any advertisement to tell you that. The room is tiny and with no Windows It Is really claustrofobic. The worst Is that no where you could understand that the First price was for this kind of room. The wifi in there , so in the room doesn't work well so you are even more isolated. Much noise. Bad hiting system. No USB charger

From JFK the fare was $57 plus tips. the driver did not use the tunnel (toll) as the traffic was light so we were able to cross the Williamsburg bridge and had a lovely view of Manhattan after dark.
